►A LITTLE ABOUT ME: I'm Dean Wolfe, a mostly self-taught Canadian guitarist/composer/multi-instrumentalist/singer/producer/performer. I started out as a full time musician, on the road at age 17-19, then went part-time ever since, holding 'day-careers' like chef (red seal papers), spiritual health care while raising a family. As a producer I've made hundreds of my own songs for media and award winning documentaries etc. I've been in several bands including a prog/jazz fusion act nFuze, playing International Jazz festivals and jazz clubs. I mostly abandoned the prog genre in the '90s but have returned to it now with vigour 30 years later. My own prog band was rejected by record labels as "too progressive' in the late 80s, so i explored grunge, pop rock and alternative, alt-folk / acoustic fingerstyle guitar and ambient electronic as well. Recently i found shoegaze and lo-fi as well. I have a home studio that is ramping up for lots more music so stay tuned.

I really enjoy that somebody out there is doing prog reviews. Thank you. I noticed in your reviews there is a band that has not been reacted to yet. The band is Pallas. They are absolutely amazing. So if you are willing to give this band a try, listen to The Cross and the Crucible or To Close to the Sun just to start off with. I believe you will be completely satisfied with them. Again thank you for your time.

Very cool to see these guys getting some recognition, very excited to see that, along with others that might get missed, like Sleepytime Gorilla Museum (check out their second album though), and the Swans (not prog, but who cares; I've never managed to meet anyone else who digs them) and Fate's Warning. Also, your discovery of Kansas was really great to watch. (Kansas' Two for the Show is one of the greatest live albums ever; if you have a chance to hear a live version of a song you've reacted to, I strongly recommend it.) Thanks!
But I'm also really surprised, lest maybe I missed it; you've really only once reacted to Van der Graaf Generator ("Darkness")? But actually, I'm going to recommend a song from their lead singer's massive body of solo work: "A Louse is Not a Home." Peter Hammill is certainly one of prog's not-to-be-missed greatest singers/lyricists, and I'm often tempted to think that "A Louse is Not a Home" is maybe the greatest prog song ever. I know, an extreme claim. Van der Graaf Generator's live album ("Vital") is another all-time great live album, along with King Crimson's 40th anniversary USA (the one that includes Fracture and Starless).
But never mind that. "A Louse is Not a Home" please! Just be sure to follow the lyrics. Thanks for all you've done and do.

Hey Dean. Really cool review. Makes me want to play the album and listen myself. You can ask for no more than that. All the best. Dave

Thanks Dave. I'm actually pretty new at album reviews so likely I'll get better and better at them. It's very different than live reactions. Thanks for your input.
