Here in the UK streets often don't have a house number 13. I realised this when I sold Avon many years ago & couldn't find house no 13 on my allocated streets. 13 is considered an unlucky number.

Hello, I wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your organizing tips! I made the canvas bags for all my circular needles that you suggested from Amazon. Great tip! I divided them for example, the US 1 by 9 inch, 16 inch and 24 inch so 3 bags for US1. All others are just by needle size. I did that because I use US1 for my socks mostly. I them put them in a basket that fit them like a filing cabinet. So easy and neat. I also tools some tips from you on organizing your go bag and other supplies. Love the light bulb tip. You’re so good at that thank you!

Week after week I watch your organizational skills. The note taking, journaling and goal orientation. Although I admire your planning skills… it’s so not me. Then it came to me, it’s the teacher in you. The need to teach a fixed amount of information in a fixed time.
    Being different is good.

I’m very interested in your personal take on necessary and/or just nice to have knitting notions/accessories/tools discussing what you find you use most, least, and why etc. I really enjoyed Wool Needles Hands UA-cam video on this subject and she included discussion of a major purchase that totally didn’t work out for her and why.

One more comment... I have a theory about your slip stitch pattern on the socks... while the yarn/needle combo might definitely be a factor, I would say the repeated dark stripes in the pink one so close together might be contributing to the appearance of the slip stitches disappearing. Your completed socks don't have too many darker stripes...they are mostly bright with just a few darker stripes, so the slip stitches show up more. It might be worth it to get another colorway that has lighter stripes in the same base from the same dyer as the grey/pink colorway and try it out on different needles to see if it's the color or the needles. Then you would know for sure if it's a yarn base/needle combo, or just a visual effect from all the dark stripes.
The grey/pink combo is super cute though and they'd make great vanilla socks even if they don't work out for the pattern!

When I joined all my Granny Squares with that method, I used my lap desk to help support and elevate the blanket. My Scrappy Crochet blankets, aka Granny Stripe, has 300 stitches across. Depending on the length of the yarn, I might have 3 changes in that row. My scrappy crochet blankets are meant to use every last bit. My knitted advent or scrap blankets are more structured in color placement and numbers of rows. I think of my Scrappy Crochet rows or C2C (corner to corner) as a free for all.

I'm also going to the Knitting in the Hills Retreat! This is my first time going, so I'd be really interested in your tips for preparing for knitting weekends. I'm probably going to Hill Country Weavers tomorrow to pick up the yarns I need for one of my classes. The new location is great - it has a lot more space and last year they built up the back yard and patio area so they have lots of nice outdoor seating. And it's right next door to Radio Coffee and a Veracruz All Natural truck, which are both fantastic. On Saturday mornings when the weather is nice I go to the open knit group that meets on the patio and then go next door to Radio for tacos and an oat milk latte, it's the perfect combination ☺.

Congrats on 30k subscribers!! So happy to hear you loved the Ethiopian food. It’s sooooo good!! I always get tibs and a veggie combo. I tried it for the first time a few years ago after moving to Silver Spring, MD. Sounds like you and Kent did it exactly right, especially without any guidance! My husband’s parents did missionary work for years in Ethiopia and love the food, so it has become a tradition for us to pick up Ethiopian and have a family dinner with his parents a few times a year. There is something so cozy and social about dipping your injera into all your different options. I still have no idea when I see it which one is which, but I am always happy to go in blind and just dig in because the spice combinations are sooooo good. It’s like having chips and dips as a main meal buffet, I love it!

#question What inspired you to try designing any of your patterns? Was it a yarn, a particular object, or an idea?
In regards to your Ethiopian dinner, they do not use utensils but instead use the “spongy crepe” to eat communally from from a single dish. The “spongy crepe” is actually Ethiopian bread called injera (in-jeer-a). Because you mentioned liking spice, the traditional spice blend for Ethiopian cuisine is called Berbere and it does have some heat to it.

Hey, thoughts on your sock pattern. The reason the pattern don't show up as well on the new yarn could be that the bigger contrast between the stripes take away from the patterning. your eye automatically "catches" the color contrast and not the subtle pattern.

Well done, Natalie! 👏 I’ve seen others post their advent throws/blankets (like Cozy Memories) but I like yours SO much better because when each color is separated by the contrasting solid, the colors really shine!! Question: I have very thick and long hair which causes hats to ride up over my ears when I move. I've tried adjusting size and ease but the problem persists. I've had this problem with store-bought hats as well. For this reason, I usually wear headbands, but they don't always provide the warmth I need. The hats I do make are for my daughter who loves slouchy hats worn for fashion and not function. Do you think the Musselburgh hat would be worth me trying? I really want a warm hat for golf on cold Colorado days.

It's hard to know if it's just in camera, or also in person, but when you show your bright stripey socks the slipped stitches do not show much on the darker colors or the light pink and other light colors. Mostly they stand out on the bright colors and you don't really notice them receding on the light and dark colors. Your new yarn is 100% pink and a dark color and I think the slipped stitches are just not showing up well on those shades and therefore not showing up much on the entire sock. Might be different in person though.

I just did a regular cast on and used the end to close the hole at the top.
