@Guinea54 The most fascinating part about kung fu, and hung ga in particular, is that you learn these basics, and then you practice them, and you learn dozens of other tweaks and applications for the same move. So you just have to be shown a few basics, and practice them for a lifetime. It's just like anything else.
@Guinea54 the majority of kung fu moves are illegal in the UFC, that's why. Kung fu teaches to kick the groin, strike the throat, plus I think a lot of the joint locks are also illegal

I think kung fu is a great art. I just don't think its that effective in things like the UFC because it is so difficult to learn. Not many people can be real kung fu masters. Its probably the hardest martial art to master, that is why it might not seem as effective.
Guinea54 In reality it's all about power and chi, the unified concepts brought forward by martial arts to exemplify the worship of the power of the internal and human soul. I know this because I've trained myself in meditative exercises ( primarily Falun Gong) and can now strike steel on my shins and feel nothing :). Qi is real. Although you have to unblock all youir energy channels that have been blocked my material mass over the years for it to be wholly effective. And it's not just wind, (common misconception) it is power from the source. Only then is it useful in environments like the UFC such as the fighter Yi Long. That is why in the Martial World we talk about power coming from the "One Truth" or one concept uniting all, because it is practical and how things are structured. All things in life stem from the spurce including martial techniques, ambushes, smarts in combat, and even the ability to fend off gun attacks at a high level or to match it with ancient Xing Yi Quan (Mind-Intent Boxing), aka the ability to strike a poplar trer from one hundred paces away without touching it.
There are rules in any fighting. Real king fu has no rules. So it’s hard for a practitioner of the art to do anything. Real hung gar is if the hand is used to attack you, you remove the hand from the opponent!!!!!! So you can’t step into a ring and break someone’s arm or leg. Rules change the game!!! Oops. @zeprecht, In BJJ there is a lot of hugging, which is gay, as soon as the BJJ grabs the Hung Gar master the master would've grab him by the throat and rip it apart...

If you mean mma then some hung Gar and most clf would work and can be deadly since both styles are very powerful
