Re Hanna phosphate/phosphorus ...I think you missed that there’s also Hanna’s ‘ULM Phosphate’ which compared to their ‘LR phosphate’ checker is the one that’s actually ‘certified’ for ‘Marine’ use (from what Ive been led to understand anyhow) Cheers 🍻
In case anyone is interested actually the API kits are the same. If you buy them individually they come with separate cards for fresh and saltwater. For cycling both marine and freshwater and for general freshwater testing the API kits are totally fine. The Salifert kits are my go to otherwise. Nyos is trash in my opinion.
It is best to pick a test kit that you like, that you feel comfortable using and is readily available to you and stick with it. Does it has to be as accurate as an ICP? not really, as long as it is consistent and not too far off and your corals have adapted to these conditions. Remember , consistency=stability.
this video is my fault isn't it? LFS has salifert kits but I think I'll order a set of tests from you guys after I finish eating just as a thank you. P.S. that live rock I got from you guys is awesome it's got a couple tiny featherdusters that made my day after the sand settled.
I test one's a week but I test kh 3 times a week I been keeping my tank 9.0 kh cal 450 mag 1550 I use hanna for kh I like it works good don't like it for cal any of the test kit you have I used and have better reading the dogs birthday is 8/19
Of the non “checker” kits the quality of the parts even down to the dropper bottles of all the kits you have shown (including the Nyos ones ) is poor (cheap & Nasty) compared to the Red Sea kits - and yes I have used them all and have got at least one of each make at present as a double check if I doubt a reading 😏
Not of content really but still, you are always straight on point. Love that! Whatever the content straight on point and blunt truth. Keep it up!
I'm thinking Diggs was born August 26th! Thanks for the great content!
Hi, I use Aquaforest test kits, but I've also used API test kits i don't agree what you said they are not garbage they are a good basis indicater.
Hanna says that there are instructions in the Nitrate checker for obtaining higher readings.

I test dKH every morning but my tank is still young and I’m still adding corals

Happy birthday Digz🐕
just a question, does the test kit for fresh water (KH / P / NO2, NO3 etc) work also for salt water or they are different ?
They are different if March has no time to let you know.
