@@thoughts9856 Unique specialists, removal of classes, and the 3rd person executions make it feel like MW2019 And you already know the unique operators and executions are going to be marketed like it too
Another thing I haven't heard many people talk about: sound cues. In BFV, despite its faults, sound worked well. You knew a V1 was coming, you could hear an MG42 around the corner. But more importantly, every single faction had verbal callouts you could hear as an enemy. Playing on Fjell? The Germans are going to be yelling up a storm in the houses at B flag. Iwo Jima? Can't tell you how many times I've heard the terrifying voices of squad after squad of Japanese soldiers sprinting towards me. In 2042, what will there be? You hear your own voice in the room next to you? The same callout by the same specialist repeated 8 times as you try desperately to figure out what the hell team they are on?
One big plus for 2042 is that the "main" game is just a third of the content we'll be getting - Portal with all of the BF3, BC2 and 1942 is going to be one of the first things I dive into!
What they need to do is makes the skins for the specialists different for each team, have the US wear the standard desert multicam uniforms, and have RU wear the OD green tan camo gorka jackets, I believe this example would make target identification way easier in the future
The Specialist system really does strike me as the sort of thing a clueless publisher or design lead foisted on the dev team because they thought it was cool and/or thought it would make a ton of money like it did for CoD without understanding how it was implemented or why it worked. Because otherwise I cannot understand how this even got past the idea stage.
Why it worked for cod was more simply we know they often did random shit so we just accepted it and no one really fussed over it especially since in a visual sense anyone could be a literal walking rainbow in bright skin and weird colored gun. HOWEVER battlefield was always a more serious game as of guns and uniforms and the realism of these unnamed soldiers dieing for their countries and bringing in this preset named person destroys it entirely and is no longer uniform and also notice how in hud you dont really know who you are fighting just red and blue, no China,Russia,US specific uniforms just faces
@@Blue-mr7fe also because Call of Duty is a more run and gun, live and die oriented game. battlefield is slower and relies on team play and situational classes. the gameplay and formula of battlefield has been hammered in for years, and for DICE to all of the sudden throw it all out the window in favor of specialists is worrying
I've been SO hyped about this game for months now. Especially after they said that they were going back to the roots of Battlefield this time. Unfortunately the beta was not what I had expected. It felt more like a superhero arcade shooter than a battlefield game to be honest. I'm also very disappointed with the new specialist system. The classes are the backbone in battlefield, and now they've taken it out, along with several other key battlefield features. The result is no team play. Everyone just goes lone wolf. Why would anyone select a repair tool when they could carry a rocket launcher instead? Because you can't carry both anymore, so naturally no one will be repairing you anymore. The new specialist system means that there is no predictability anymore, because as you said, anyone could be carrying anything and you can't plan ahead. By taking out that strategic element the core game experience is degraded. Hopefully portal will be good. I just don't understand why they essentially redesigned the whole main game and now all that remains of the true core battlefield experience is just a side-mode..
The total lack of teamplay is what made me drop the beta after only 2 hours. It's a result of the specialist system and the ability to spawn on any squad member. They need to also bring back spawning on squad leader only, because this really keeps squads together.
"Especially after they said that they were going back to the roots of Battlefield this time." LMAO! Were the hell you heard that nonsense from? buddy, you just got finesse from that statement. Specialists contradict the core idea of "everyone has a role." The Identity of the battlefield. Their nothing "going back to it root" from that.
Ah, glad to see you enjoyed my video, thank you for giving credit! Great video btw, I too really hope to see many of the changes you discussed. Hopefully they will make some sizeable changes; but, I'll admit I'm not holding my breath for it.
@@Entropic_Meat_Machine Yep, dice/ea fan fucks keep straw manning arguments, lying about how its only a small vocal minority hate specialists, crappy memes insulting people who hate specialist's, ignoring valid criticisms and solutions people have made, etc etc.
@@NtJk Nope, the people who had criticism I seen them put out detail ways that operators could be introduced and fixed to fit battlefield, while being attacked by ea fanboys about how there the vocal minority and that battlefield changing is actually good, cause reasons.
@@aaronlaughter6471 In my experience, the people who gives good feedbacks are usually drowned in new. In hot, it's either extreme fanboyism defending the developers direction or extreme hate from one-lined posts, like "it's not battlefield!, it's hero shooter now", and not actually useful criticisms. I'm still kinda glad that DICE is still addressing the specialists issue affecting the squad play, like in BFV, they managed to find a middle ground between their own ttk changes and the old ttk that the fans want, i hope they can find the middle ground in the specialists system that can be accepted by the fans
@@NtJk Indeed, my concern comes from seeing this happen with Halo, Halo 4 changed to be more like cod, the hardcore fans hated it yet where told by the same "fans" 343 where trying to get into halo there nothing but haters and change is good etc etc.... Then Halo 5, from them adding jump jets and boosts, to making the game feel like the cod's with advance movement, and hardcore fans hated it (add to the deceptive marketing pissing people who might have liked it off)... And now, with Halo infinite, 343 changed the art style back (I do hope they keep some of there style as well, halo wars 2 showed both styles could work together), the flights we had are so fun, and unlike 2042 beta, felt like it could come out today, I haven't seen people excited for halo like this sense 3... And all it took was for 343 to listen and give hardcore fans what they wanted and to stop doubling down, something dice cant seem to do.
Spot on, honest, clearheaded analysis of what’s going on in 2042. It is much appreciated especially in comparison to the “this is going to be the best Battlefield ever “ super hype from the fanboys. The plus system is a problem, you seem to be the first Battlefield UA-camr to come to that correct conclusion. 10 specialists at launch with the promise of more to come? All of a sudden i fear I’m going to be playing a conquest version of Apex.
@@lusvinalpirez3633 I guess I’ll piggyback off of what Dave was saying… because it’s Battlefield. A team based/squad based war game. If it was a game that was every man for himself I’d have no problem with it. But if I’m on a team where most players want to be the flying squirrel guy or the grappling hook guy (and who knows, maybe even the cloaking device guy) and nobody’s dropping ammo or heals then that becomes a problem. My fear is that after years of DICE warning not to play lone wolf that they just created a game that does exactly that.
@@GS-vb3zn I understand y’alls pov. Like og players of the franchise I think they are purposely headed in a different direction though that maybe isn’t necessarily a BAD direction but its different. Because im pretty sure there is gonna eventually be a br in this right? Maybe they want to focus on that more.
The wildest part that gets me is how profoundly absent of graphic design they seemed to have incorporated into the game. Graphic design is the visual communication of information and yet they just outright neglected to bake in ANY visual info elements. It's absolutely wild they did this and even wilder that no one seemed to push back at any point across playtesting.
It was too dificult to design 2 diferent specialists with the same skills ,to know that the Russian Boris is diferent from the American "Boris". But Dice is a small studio as we all know, with a small Publisher behind them and they didnt get ANY help from 2 other studios to finish this turd...
100% agree with everything you said in the video. The more I think about it, the more disappointed I am. This game was it... it has to be it. The franchise needs it. And I fear the worst- another "flop". It's up to DICE. As long as they LISTEN, which is apparently incredibly hard to do, things can be fine... but after BF5, I have absolutely no faith in them.
I think they could implement a passive for the classes like lock on faster for engineer compared to other classes if that makes sense make it a little detrimental to not run the actual class with a specialist? But who knows I hope it will be fun only time will tell though. Just remember it is ea lol I dont remember a good launch for their games
I kinda want BF5’s customization, yeah it wasn’t that accurate. But at least everyone was different. BF5 wasn’t the most accurate game, but. A lot better Vanguard. The outfits, the option to change how your gun operates, for example. Giving the gun a bayonet, or making it belt fed, was pretty cool. And being able to make your gun look different, with rags, leaves, medals ( we don’t talk about the ivory ones ), all gave every soldier their own look, their own feel. All helped your soldier, feel like your own. Not just some “specialist”. Even in BF4, where the guns cosmetics were just skins, and even without outfits felt good, like you had your own soldier.
I felt like 5 took it way, way, way too far tbh. Especially early on. A ww2 game with rainbow haired pirates wearing fonzi jackets and whacking people with bats just looked dumb no matter how you slice it.
@@noneed4sleep64 It's still kinda dumb. Junk like the Fonzi jacket for the US is still in, and I don't care how you slice it, the female soldiers were a pants on head stupid idea and looks and sounds completely out of place, especially in factions that in no way in hell would have allowed it. Even in V I find myself listening more to the language of models running around than looking at them, since they all look like a fucking mess devoid of anything that could be construed as an actual uniform. Because 'Santa in a pimp suit' is really easy to tell what his nationality is.
@@shadow7988 thing is as silly as the outfits got they still had enough of a distinct hey these are the Germans or the Japanese silly outfits that you could tell what they were
What really makes the immersion of fighting in a War in Battlefield games for me is different factions and soldiers speaking in different languages. I loved it when in Battlefield 4 I spotted a helicopter and the player proceeded to communicate with his team in russian. Battlefield 1 took this concept and completely nailed it. Multiple factions with atleast 5 different languages fighting each other and their player model were authentic enough that it really felt like you're fighting in a war between nations. It gives me goosebumps every time the Ottomans or Italian soldiers speak to each other in their mother tongue. That concept is completely thrown out the window in Battlefield 2042 which is a tragic downstep of previous titles.
BF3 and BF4 were ok but they weren't as good as bad company. In those games even the announcer spoke in the language of their military and they killed the immersion for me when BF3 and BF4 opted to have the announcer say you captured an objective or spotted an enemy in broken English. BF2042 is still a downgrade though and i would have liked to have the specialist speak English and Russian depending on what team they were on as it makes no sense to speak English when you are communicating with the Russian army
The specialist system is great, it will be really cool to fight a lobby full of meta-lord sweaty McKays grappling around the map while I run around requesting ammo because few will take the ammo utility. Great fun!
Easiest fix: All operators have randomized appearances and their names are callsigns for what class they represent. Just redo the names and make the faces generic and the uniforms unique to whatever class you select.
BF2042 - Fixes and Balances, Game Mechanics and Visuals ▪︎Battlefield Fundamentals▪︎ - Faction Uniforms 1. US No-Pats: Tan Gear and American Camos. 2. RU No-Pats: Black Gear and Russian Camos. - Class Roles: Specialists divided into Assault, Engineer, Support and Recon. - Primary Weapons unrestricted by Class Roles. - Secondary Gadgets restricted to Class Roles. 1. Assault Gadgets Example Resupply Box, Grenade Launcher, Smoke Launcher, Underbarrel Shotgun 2. Engineer Gadgets Example Repair Tool, EOD Bot, AT/AA Launcher, AT/AA Mines 3. Support Gadgets Example Medical Bag, Claymore Mines, Mortar, XM25 4. Recon Gadgets Example Radio Beacon, PLD, SOFLAM, C5 Explosives - Ammo count is too low for primary weapons, give us the standard combat load from BF3/BF4. - Spawns limited to Main Base, Captured Objectives, Radio Beacons, Team/Squad Vehicles and Squad Leader. ▪︎Missing Game Features▪︎ - Advanced Movement: Backwards Prone, ADS Leaning, Crouch Running, Swimming/Diving, Combat Roll, Grenade Throwback and Large Explosion Knockback. - Squad Reinforcements: Squad Leaders get a Call-In Menu in the Commo-Rose. Calling in Reinforcement Assets require Squad Points gained from Objective Captures and Teamwork Actions. 1. Scan UAVs 2. EMP UAVs 3. Artillery Barrages 4. Smoke Screens 5. Cruise Missiles 6. Supply Drops - First Person Takedowns. The transition from First Person to Third Person and back during Takedowns is disorienting and less immersive. - Buildable Fortifications and HMG/TOW Emplacements would be beneficial for large open maps, that need cover and for long range engagements. Resupply Stations near Objectives for Ammo and Vehicle Repair. ▪︎User Interface & Heads-Up Display▪︎ - Loadout Menu: More customization options for weapons. 5 Attachment Options = Optic, Barrel, Laser/Light, Underbarrel and Ammo Conversion. - Plus Menu: Add Laser/Light to the Right Slot and move the Ammo Conversion to the Center Slot. - Missing HUD Features 1. Scope Zeroing 2. Nearby Friendly/Medic Indicator When Downed 3. Vehicle/Aircraft Directional Indicator for Driver/Gunner 4. Lock-On Warning/Direction 5. Damage Indicator 6. Squad Wipe Indicator ▪︎Vehicles▪︎ - Vehicles need more weight to them and ground traction, they slide and float everywhere. The flight models for aircraft are janky. Vehicles/Aircraft movement need work. - Reintroduce Mobility Hit and Mobility Kill from BF4. - Attack Helicopters: Give the Gunner a Laser Guided Missile as Secondary Weapon for Anti-Tank. - Transport Helicopters: Increase number of passengers for the Condor/Hind from 2 to 4 (8 seats total). - Scout Helicopters: Buff the Miniguns against Infantry. Increase number of passengers from 2 to 4 (6 seats total).
I really think Portal is where 2042 is going to shine, you can disable 2042 soldiers and just use the classes and soldiers from BF3 as a way to get around specialists, and you can even change movement system to fix all the problems 2042 has. I'm not sure if you'll be able to disable the plus system but I would be surprised if you couldn't. Base 2042 may have some problems, but I think Portal will give players the option to play the game how they want.
I actually like the freedom of loadout choice, and the specialist system. But i agree that everyone looks the same... they could at least give different uniforms or specialist versions to different teams... that would help by a lot.
What if every squad was only allowed one specialist to aid the squad and the other 3 go back to the classic system. I think the community would take that a little better than constantly seeing the same specialists everywhere
I'm worried and on the fence so many bad reviews about the game videos of refunds. I'm a former COD fan I don't even touch my COD games anymore, not even installed because of BF5.
8:22 the thing is they can easily bring it back because the class and faction specific models are in the game. Except only bots can use these, for example the Russians were wearing some sort of UCP pattern while the U.S. were wearing an OD green uniform. The classes were distinct such as Medics having blue gloves, Recons had no helmets but wore goggles, support were wearing heavy armour and had big ammo packs on them, and the engineers were wearing lighter armour and had rocket launchers. So I’m sure DICE can easily reimplement the classic system back.
The lore states that the faction the soldiers fight for provide them with weapons and vehicles. So it wouldn’t be too far fetched to also say that they provide the soldier’s uniforms, and then give specialists uniforms for either side.
I think it would’ve been better to just have the specialist abilities at your disposal in the classes but allowing you to make your own soldier with team specific gear kind of like bf5 that way you could ACTUALLY BE special and unique compared to the other players.
If you hadn't provided the name and date in the top left corner, I honestly wouldn't have been able to tell the difference between Battlefield 4 and 2042.
The funny thing is that specialists are already marked as designated classes based on their traits (i.e. Assault, Support, Engineer, and Recon). However, it's practically useless since it doesn't do anything to limit a specialist's capabilities, but instead just serves as a nametag. So if DICE were to actually put those designations to use by creating limitations, it would definitely balance things out a bit. (Side note: This is far-fetched, but maybe we could get a 'Classic' version of A-OW with traditional classes at our disposal. That'd be cool.)
I really hope they will take this feedback seriously. I mean, almost everybody is complaining about it. I feel like selling more skins can't be reason why they did it because skins were already a big part of BFV. But let's see
I like the BF series because I am just a soldier. If I get blown up by a tank or gunned down by some sniper. I just respawn another cog, 1 piece of a larger battle and I liked that. The new specialist system bring personality, which isn't what I want. If we get personalisation why not with preset faces and maybe some gear diversity for the class appearance you can purchase on the online store.
We can definitely thank Rainbow Six Siege for becoming the hit "Specialist Operator" game that inspired CoD and Battlefield 2042 to go the way of their own type of "Operator". With BF2042 going deeper by giving their specialists, specializations. Much like the R6 Operators. But like, light, because at least with R6, the Operators are limited to one to three primary weapons, one or two secondary weapons, lethal or nonlethal throwable, and their special equipment that can actually make or break a round. That and their weapons are potent at certain ranges and it pays to use cover and some semblance of dynamic entry tactics. Additionally only one operator can be picked (except Recruit, who has no special gadget), so you won't find a whole team of Caveira or a whole team of Sledge, or a whole team of Buck... Once an operator is picked by a player, it cannot be picked by any other player. Battlefield is just too huge to be doing this specialist thing. And CoD was at least humble enough to not go with specializations and just stick with Operators for that nice unique mixture of flavor and skins to play with. And with that diversity of operator AND skin design, no two of the same operator looks the same in-game(Don't get me wrong, I have huge problems with all three of these games): -R6 tries to be both arcade-type (much like CoD) but limiting the movement and life expectancy of certain operators by also trying to be a type of "mil-sim". There are some certain operators that are next to useless in game (Warden is one of them, where everything he has is magnified better by everyone else, and his only real benefit is being a 3 Armor, 1 speed Operator, but even that's not saying much to certain others). And in the reverse, there are operators that are just so damn good that they're often blocked from use in ranked games. Games are also not matched well (we really start to see this as R6 became popular, and CoD and BF wanted a piece of that pie in competitive gaming) as you can be a casual player with a match against people who had gone ranked, and have much more expendable time to invest in the game... -CoD has been going through this weird phase after MW2019. While 2019 was amazing for the CoD franchise, revitalizing an otherwise aging franchise that everyone had assumingly written off after CoD: WWII, it brought new life to the gaming community and fan base... And then it decided to port all three of that particular generation of games into one massive game port. Increased the size of GB memory needed, and of course, hid all the different game functions (Multiplayer, Co-op, and Singleplayer) behind download walls that could take minutes to hours. And then regular, near daily updates to the game to fix constant bugs and issues. R6 did not have this problem. BF also did not have this problem (at least until BFV). The fear now, with MW2022, is that they may try to do it again. They've already ported 2019 to 2022, and there's issue and suspicion they may try to do it again. Whether they learned their lesson of UI from 2019-2021 is irrelevant as people didn't ask or want it. -BF has been hitting a rut and driving itself deeper into it. BFV, regardless of the politics, clearly showed that it was about profit and making a political point at the higher ups level, rather than serving a loyal fan base. Especially after the nostalgia high of BF1, where people felt a revitalization to the franchise after several years of BF3 and BF4 and people feeling it begin to stagnate. (BF3 and BF4 were definitely the high point of EA's battlefield franchise, and DICE really showed what their system was capable of). But we see this fall apart right around the time that Medal of Honor and Medal of Honor: Warfighter comes out, with DICE at the helm of both in regards to multiplayer (and not doing very well at all). By BFV, people were beginning to see the cracks. BF2042, despite its visuals and its gameplay, just seems like a hollow attempt at pandering, rather than a genuine, from the heart, return to the soul of BF. What made it more ridiculous is that they had decided to cut out Single Player, under the excuse that it was no longer relevant and people wanted Multiplayer based games (which hurt its overall sales turn out)... But I think the Beta release and criticisms of copying CoD AND R6 with Specialists (Operators) and Specializations, rather than maintaining the tried and true flavor of faceless, class oriented troops (Sniper, Assault, Support and Medic), really doomed BF2042. It makes it worse because they also didn't learn their lesson with Firestorm, and wanted to try, again, with a new Battle Royale game. Granted their legacy feature of incorporating famous classics (like BF3, BC2 and 1942) was welcomed, many people (including me) felt the game was lacking in any serious life or flavor. Booting up the game, I found that there was only two modes: Conquest and Rush. Two game modes I'm typically not fond of simply because my experience is always that infantry only becomes really good at dying all the time. Vehicles act in such a manner that is well beyond the "Suspension of Disbelief", up to and including how seemingly invincible they are to all except the most concentrated of fires, and because they followed the same matchmaking formula as CoD and R6, you'll have low level players set up with high level players, and it can become incredibly one-sided. Whatever their efforts were, it seems that its causing more misery than fun for the casual community. Its essentially gate keeping people who just want to have fun, by having this not-so-subtle favoritism towards people who have plentiful free time to spend grinding away at the game for rank locked items that otherwise most people could only hope to get with MONTHS of playing. Fair isn't the term I'm looking for. What I am saying is that they've made it impossible for people to enjoy the game when there's no barriers between level groups, thus killing any desire to actually WANT to play the game, for people who have those precious moments to do so... They will spend their time elsewhere... The Devs don't understand this, they don't see this. But then wonder why player counts decline after the initial 6 months. They're all presuming that everyone has no 40 hour work week to attend to for bills and payments... (Sorry for the Rant, but this is a frustrating observation that I'm seeing after having played video games for nearly 20 years, all the way back to when Army Men (3DO) and Medal of Honor were popular back in the 2000's before CoD and BF came into the scene and radically altered the playing field with their multiplayer and story campaigns respectively).
Isn't there an option in Portal to change to the older class system? If so then it's already in the game for them to get rid of specialist in the main game too.
Inb4 the most popular post launch op is Boston Dynamics Atlas with an extra trait for a gadget, both of which give general bonuses to movement and weapons handling
before even watching the video, I hit like. Just for the Title of the video. Genius dave! on a real though, that's very accurate. I miss the plane gameplay and rage... unfortunately we won't get many of those vids about 2042, with how jets are at the moment. lol
It's like the clone wars lol why cant they just have a avatar u can fully customise and keep it separate to the specialists and classes also why have characters if theirs no story to follow ?
What do you think about the infantry healing and vehicle auto-repair (starts automatically after 15 sec.) in terms of teamwork and design? Without a medic, rezzing is rather fast and player auto-heals relatively quickly (relative to the many other combat games). With a medic, the rezzing is almost instant and player just heals even faster. Is the medic very valuable or needed? Vehicles do not need to evade much or to find a moment to self-repair. // I find it reduces immersion and tactics, but I am not a Battlefield player so (I play Planetside 2 [great game], Squad, Post Scriptum, Hell Let Loose, played ARMA 3 King of the Hill, etc.).
Why can’t a large game creator make a game that is realistic and accurate. Make that their focus. Rather than pleasing the very young crowd with modified gameplay that makes things easier for them to win. It’s sad that devs rely on creations that they can rinse and repeat and monetize to the max. I know this seems like a means to an end here but I’d be very happy to be able to login and play an expansive REAL as can be war game that is exciting to play. Without Silicone Valley caring about their pocketbooks. Just my 2 cents. Great video!
The CLOSEST thing to a "specialist" should be a "hero", like in the Star Wars Battlefront games. But even like that, it dosen't fit into Battlefield. The "Class" system was good from the start and didn't really need any "improving"
It is weird to me how they said they are going back to classic battlefield yet remove classes which every classic battlefield had hopefully they actually add them back or at least make it so equipment is locked if they don’t want to bring classes back because did anyone notice that they had class presets in beta like medic ect yet you can pick medic preset then choose a rpg they should lock the gadgets into those classes at the very least but who knows with dice if its not broken they try fix it
I told you they would fuck it up, enthusiast are no longer in control of game decisions. Now the one making the calls are people worried about diversity and gender issues.
I agree with all you said, except I quite like the PLUS system. Picking your gun DOES influence what you are trying to do during that spawn. Are you fighting CQB on the B flag? Grab a shotgun or SMG. Are you trying to snipe people? Grab the bolty. I don't think the ability to add and remove scopes alters the area of effectiveness of a gun all that much. The gun still handles relatively similar (i.e. you will never turn a Vector into a sniper). The scopes and devices just add a bit of a buff and let you be flexible with the areas you fight in, and for that I like it. You are 100% on with the specialist system. That's definitely a problem that needs addressing, and they aren't going anywhere. Hell, the core storyline of BF2042 revolves around these specialists, think of all the storyboarding the team has already done, that they would have to throw out the window if they were to just completely rid of it. Its not going to happen. One more thing I think that needs to be talked about is how difficult and inconvenient it is to revive people. You can barely see the prompt, its the same key as swap weapons, and it takes way too long and leaves you so exposed, and you can't move around while you are doing it, leaving you a perfect stationary target. If they want to go this revive route, I would honestly rather the BF5 revives, cause at least those were easy to do, and your head moved around a bit so it wasn't THAT easy to just headshot you, just press E and forget, and looked cool. The BF2042 ones are just a death wish. If they're not in perfect cover, you can just forget picking them up. I think that's a big reason why it felt like people weren't reviving. Personally, I played Falk and TRIED to play as a medic, getting revives, but it was way too difficult. 9 times out of 10 I would fumble, switching weapons with the downed guy, trying to find the revive prompt then die, or I would initiate the revive, stand completely still, and just die that way instead.
The problem isn't the specialists. It's just the way they are presented. Battlefield 5 had multiple of the same characters as well. The only difference are there uniforms.
The specialist would make more sense as NPC/Ai's(what ever you wanna call em) that you can call in for x amount of points to like defend a certain point. But with everyone running around looking the exact same makes them even less special & to the point where they are generic clones of each other. If they want to keep specialist they need to make them have different character models depending on what side they are on. Cant have US army looking enemies while on the also having US army looking friendlies. It makes literally no sense. Why DICE out of all the games have come to this conclusion is beyond me. Feels like they are just trying to chase that Warzone microtransaction money pit. Which so far seems to be the case. Might just cancel my pre-order at this point tbh
@@venar4248 Cause i have pre-order every single BF game since BF3. Gotten easily over 4K hours into all of them & plenty of fun. I'll prob get 4k hours of fun out of BF2042 also.
so idk. i didnt had any problems seeing who the enemy is and who is friendly. the hud works. And yes, i ratter not have speciallists, but i also ratter have free costumizible classes so i can play how i want. The most hype for me was to know i chould technicly choose anything and mix it together. Also, i BF 4 you chould also play a Medic but Pick a DMR which a scope. Which maybe is not the same like a Sniperrifle, but damn close enough. Sooo... I whould have liked it to have those "Speciallists" as your Character Avatar ingame, but you choose your stuff and also your trait. But yea... killing your clone over and over again is kinda weird....
I totally agree with everything you've said in the video .. spot on analysis 👌🏻 .. it's like they're always trying to invent the wheel over n over again when they're making a new BF game . Stick to the core experience please .. that's what makes a BF game BF !
Obviously they cant just take the specialists out but what about faction specific color schemes? RU is green tones, US is tan, some other faction is black? Would that work. Personally I dont have any of these issues with the game that most people are talking about but still want it to be the best BF it can be.
I´m on the same page about specialists. Also, not sure if you would all agree, but I kind of hate the new change weapon attachements and ammo while alive, it feels super arcady. I know BF isnt rly a realistic game like Squad, but it was far more realistic always than for example CoD, now its not and I hate it.
I hate it, if I play battlefield, I play as a medic or supprot and help the team, I have a hard time seeing myself do that in 2042, in all battlefield what would happen is "frontlines" would organicly happen, and thats where support classes would go to help, with the openness and how the beta I have a hard time seeing this happen again.
The fact that dice is doubling down and saying the next battlefield game is going to be a hero shooter just proves dice and EA are garbage and don’t care about the community and what we the community want or about balance
I liked BFV customization. It may have been a pre name pre set character. But you can dress them how you see fit. Honestly I just prefer character customization..
Battlefield 2042 feels more like COD's take on Battlefield than a true Battlefield title. So many design choices are downright confusing, removing the class system is just removing part of what makes Battlefield Battlefield. I can already see this game dividing the community even further than Battlefield 5 in terms of driving people to play older titles that feel more like Battlefield. Battlefield 4, 1, and even 5 are going to continue to see life in their servers. This game was the exact opposite of Battlefield 5 for me. With 5 the reveal trailer turned me off pretty heavily but the beta brought me back in once I saw how good the game felt, the gunplay in it was on point. With 2042 the reveal trailer promised a return to those "only in Battlefield" moments and drew heavy homage to Battlefield 4. Then the beta came and I couldn't play more than a few hours because it didn't even feel like Battlefield.
I liked how Elite kits worked in Battlefield 1, I think specialists would be better suited to that mechanic. Then they would actually be special, and each one in that kind of system could have it's own upgrade tree and small loadout customization for variety. It would still allow for monetization with skins. I dont like the free form loadout, this isnt call of duty, it's Battlefield.
I 100% agree with your thoughts. The game design of this entry feels deeply flawed. It needs to be delayed for another year. This is gonna be a disaster launch
You talk about the loss of identity for classes in 2042, but this was started in BFV with character customization. But you could still at least tell factions, even with the special characters being unique and usable on any class. But yeah, otherwise I’m really not liking how this is looking. I had hope for 2042, but this specialist stuff just kills it for me. Maybe I’ll play it on sale.
I agree with the notion that both teams should have their own “versions” of the same specialist just so we distinguish friend from foe. What I’m not agreeing with is to lock the guns to different specialists or to disable the plus system. I think since we are already being forced into the whole specialist thing than we should be able to make a load-out that suits the specialist in different scenarios. Also I kinda want to mention the alleged op wall hack ability. I don’t think it’s going to be that strong as some people may think. In apex legends there is a character that has kinda the same ability but it never feels unfair to play against him. I know this isn’t apex or cod but still I think this will freshen up the game a bit. This might be a unpopular opinion but hey opinions are like a** holes everyone has one of them.
Feels like so many design decisions in 2042 were not an upgrade to the classic battlefield formula rather trying to mimic MW2019

Battlefield 1 had the best differentiation of factions.

What they need to do is makes the skins for the specialists different for each team, have the US wear the standard desert multicam uniforms, and have RU wear the OD green tan camo gorka jackets, I believe this example would make target identification way easier in the future
No take the specialist class out the game for good
Nobody asked for specialists in the first place. It's just so they have something to sell.

I knew I'd heard it before. 👍🏻
"Especially after they said that they were going back to the roots of Battlefield this time."
LMAO!
I think you've got a good point. For me, battlefield always was about being a faceless soldier in a big war and not being a hero in a big war.

I'm still kinda glad that DICE is still addressing the specialists issue affecting the squad play, like in BFV, they managed to find a middle ground between their own ttk changes and the old ttk that the fans want, i hope they can find the middle ground in the specialists system that can be accepted by the fans
@@NtJk Indeed, my concern comes from seeing this happen with Halo,
Halo 4 changed to be more like cod, the hardcore fans hated it yet where told by the same "fans" 343 where trying to get into halo there nothing but haters and change is good etc etc....

Spot on, honest, clearheaded analysis of what’s going on in 2042. It is much appreciated especially in comparison to the “this is going to be the best Battlefield ever “ super hype from the fanboys.

BF4 was really satisfying after 2042's beta.
If even Jesus, the messianic son of God himself, prefers playing an older Battlefield game, then there is no denying that 2042 is gonna be awful.
Great fun!
Easiest fix:
All operators have randomized appearances and their names are callsigns for what class they represent. Just redo the names and make the faces generic and the uniforms unique to whatever class you select.
They don't care about the original fans anymore. This is for the young crowd that grew up with micro transactions and hero shooters.
BF2042 - Fixes and Balances, Game Mechanics and Visuals
▪︎Battlefield Fundamentals▪︎
- Faction Uniforms
1. Assault Gadgets Example
Resupply Box, Grenade Launcher, Smoke Launcher, Underbarrel Shotgun
2. Engineer Gadgets Example
Repair Tool, EOD Bot, AT/AA Launcher, AT/AA Mines
3. Support Gadgets Example
Medical Bag, Claymore Mines, Mortar, XM25
4. Recon Gadgets Example
Radio Beacon, PLD, SOFLAM, C5 Explosives
- Ammo count is too low for primary weapons, give us the standard combat load from BF3/BF4.
- Spawns limited to Main Base, Captured Objectives, Radio Beacons, Team/Squad Vehicles and Squad Leader.
▪︎Missing Game Features▪︎
- Advanced Movement: Backwards Prone, ADS Leaning, Crouch Running, Swimming/Diving, Combat Roll, Grenade Throwback and Large Explosion Knockback.
- Squad Reinforcements: Squad Leaders get a Call-In Menu in the Commo-Rose. Calling in Reinforcement Assets require Squad Points gained from Objective Captures and Teamwork Actions.
1. Scan UAVs
2. EMP UAVs
3. Artillery Barrages
4. Smoke Screens
5. Cruise Missiles
6. Supply Drops
- First Person Takedowns.
▪︎User Interface & Heads-Up Display▪︎
- Loadout Menu: More customization options for weapons. 5 Attachment Options = Optic, Barrel, Laser/Light, Underbarrel and Ammo Conversion.
- Plus Menu: Add Laser/Light to the Right Slot and move the Ammo Conversion to the Center Slot.
- Missing HUD Features
1. Scope Zeroing
2. Nearby Friendly/Medic Indicator When Downed
3. Vehicle/Aircraft Directional Indicator for Driver/Gunner
4. Lock-On Warning/Direction
5. Damage Indicator
6. Squad Wipe Indicator
▪︎Vehicles▪︎
- Vehicles need more weight to them and ground traction, they slide and float everywhere.
Attack of the Clones is my least favorite prequel.

I would rather have them postpone the launch again and get rid of specialists
I fully agree, upto now this game is ignoring it's own legacy to become cod.
I think a lot of players will try to play the old style. Medic, engineer, support, scout... but these new models of players are confusing.
Everyone looked the same in bf4 no one complained
8:22 the thing is they can easily bring it back because the class and faction specific models are in the game. Except only bots can use these, for example the Russians were wearing some sort of UCP pattern while the U.S. were wearing an OD green uniform. The classes were distinct such as Medics having blue gloves, Recons had no helmets but wore goggles, support were wearing heavy armour and had big ammo packs on them, and the engineers were wearing lighter armour and had rocket launchers. So I’m sure DICE can easily reimplement the classic system back.
They even used that armor in the trailers too
they could do that, but then they couldn't sell skins...

They absolutely can, they did it in BF5
The only thing I like about the new system is a can run the bad company medic with an lmg.

The lore states that the faction the soldiers fight for provide them with weapons and vehicles. So it wouldn’t be too far fetched to also say that they provide the soldier’s uniforms, and then give specialists uniforms for either side.
I think it would’ve been better to just have the specialist abilities at your disposal in the classes but allowing you to make your own soldier with team specific gear kind of like bf5 that way you could ACTUALLY BE special and unique compared to the other players.
how did you activate the flashlight after equipping it?

Hardcore coming years after launch
And with that diversity of operator AND skin design, no two of the same operator looks the same in-game(Don't get me wrong, I have huge problems with all three of these games):
-R6 tries to be both arcade-type (much like CoD) but limiting the movement and life expectancy of certain operators by also trying to be a type of "mil-sim".
SSeems likely to me that the point of the specialist system is for EA to sell you specialists :P
Exactly.

Isn't there an option in Portal to change to the older class system? If so then it's already in the game for them to get rid of specialist in the main game too.

Why pre order in the first place? Stupid decision anyways...
It's not necessarily Warzone, but more so APEX....
There is no strategy, no teamwork and having all the specialists look the same looks flat out stupid. I miss one of my favorite franchises.
I feel like the specialists came about because dice thought the wacky heroes from BFV should have their own game
Did everyone forget COD used to have a class system? They scrapped it and went to "pick 10" or whatever, and it was all downhill from there...
They need to do what battle field 4 did and change the character model in general but keeping it the same concept
I'm guessing this game will not be ready for prime time until sometime around May or June of '22.
Just check out the settings sound effects on bf and cod and tell me the difference !
they should just delete all the equipment except for armor plates since no one will pick anything else anyways..
I want the generic 2042 regular military soldiers(you know, the AIs' character model) become playable again
I think global weapons isn't going to be that much of a problem.
I do think they have to lock gadgets class specific. That solved 90% of the problem.
I totally agree with everything you've said in the video .. spot on analysis 👌🏻 .. it's like they're always trying to invent the wheel over n over again when they're making a new BF game . Stick to the core experience please .. that's what makes a BF game BF !
The problem is not specialist, it's the fact that they are not faction specific.
Obviously they cant just take the specialists out but what about faction specific color schemes? RU is green tones, US is tan, some other faction is black? Would that work. Personally I dont have any of these issues with the game that most people are talking about but still want it to be the best BF it can be.
By far that not a big problem lol, the game design is. You don't seem to get it.
@@SpeedKing.. I obviously dont, I had a lot of fun in the beta idk
06:30 how many times this annoyed me is that a enemy no friendly ..........................................
The fact that dice is doubling down and saying the next battlefield game is going to be a hero shooter just proves dice and EA are garbage and don’t care about the community and what we the community want or about balance
Seems more like the core game was built around Hazard Zone. But I don't care, I'm looking forward to playing a modern BF title again.
If it was up to me they would have to run it by Ranger Dave before they do anything.
Bfv type 2a: when everyones super no one is
Begun the clone war has.
When mama not happy, nobody's happy
I think they adopted Apex Legends system and incorporated it in 2042.
They could've just done it so it's like Battlefront 2 and when you accumulate enough score you can choose a specialist character.
Elite Trooper Kits were such a cool system and the same goes for Behemoths. Why on Earth did those mechanics never return.
just gonna be in portal from day 1
I tried playing without HUD and it sucked until I switch to Battlefield Portal
I'm sure that will the full launch the game will be much better
I 100% agree with your thoughts. The game design of this entry feels deeply flawed. It needs to be delayed for another year. This is gonna be a disaster launch
I do not want specialist class in the main game
You talk about the loss of identity for classes in 2042, but this was started in BFV with character customization. But you could still at least tell factions, even with the special characters being unique and usable on any class.
But yeah, otherwise I’m really not liking how this is looking. I had hope for 2042, but this specialist stuff just kills it for me. Maybe I’ll play it on sale.
You guys played the game months before the rest of us and kept quiet about those issues until the open beta.
Nondisclosure Agreements can be a bitch
This will be the first battlefield I haven't bought on release since bad company 2.
I can't buy this mess.
I hope they take the game out the store and redesign it, then rerelase it next year just like CDPR did with Cyberpunk
You predicted the outcome perfectly in the beta. However, due to a couple of OP specialists, the diversity is even worse .
I stick to Battlefield 1 for now, gorgeous game and lots of fun!
Here’s the 128 players you’ve all been waiting on battlefield for !! one small thing though , it’s not battlefield anymore…
