You uploaded the video for Blue while I was finishing the video for White. You’re doing a public service with how good/quickly uploaded these videos are, Jim!
I dont even play MTG much anymore. But rest assured, I've been so ready for Jims reviews to drop, lol. Thanks for all your hard work man its much appreciated.
i really like fear of isolation, since the return to hand is part of the casting cost (can't be interacted with outside of an on-board passive, and im not sure one exists that would even effect this). uninterruptible self bounce would slot right into the orzhov pixie list
Regarding Mirror Room // Fractured Realm, the Fractured side is better than a panharmonicon. It doubles ALL triggered abilities, not just ETBs. Upkeep triggers, combat triggers, etbs, death triggers, unlocking doors ie. the left side (I think).
Little late here but wanted to say I played a few limited games with Unable to Scream and that card seems nuts. The one mana shut down a scary creature (including abilities) makes this blues best removal spell that also triggers eerie.
The Oculus looks like Murktide in a lot of ways, but it reduces dependence on instants and sorceries by so much. There's a comparison to Delver vs DRC to be made. Giving you the flexibility to run it in a non-spell slinger build is huge.
One interesting thing about the Grimoire: unlike other lich effects, they can't make you lose by removing the Grimoire, so you could just bounce/destroy it in response, e.g. they attack with enough damage to make you discard your hand, before damage, bounce the Grimoire.
Okay now im really excited to build around vendrells grimoire, and also throw in a 4 of duelist of the mind and proft's memory, that may be very powerful.
Looking forward to Unable to Scream, I run a lot of Generous Plunderer in a Jeskai Human deck and converting my opponents creature into a 0/2 no ability artifact creature is awesome. Also one mana removal is also awesome.
I think unable to scream or one of the rooms will end up being the best commons for blue. Like last set, blue has some great uncommons but they just cant print a good common blue creature to save thier life.
Considering we have Nightmares in this set, Elementals in Bloomburrow, and Dinos in Ixalan, I reallly hope a return to Ikoria is in the cards in the near future.
17:01 funny you say that when Kor Skyfisher has been a mainstay in white creature decks in Pauper 😂 I think a lot of Pauper players would've liked Fear of Isolation to be a common too but it is what it is
Okay some quick scryfall search for nonsense you can do with Grimoire: Psychic Frog + Feast of Sanity = Draw/discard your whole deck and ping them to death Peace of Mind = For {W} turn one card into three Heartwarming Redemption = Discard your hand and draw twice as many cards Greed's Gambit = Draw 9 Horizon Chimera or Sheoldred + Laboratory Maniac = Instantly draw your entire deck and win the game
Glimmerburst looks excellent to me. The 4 mana draw 2 is mid without scry/surveil but the 1/1 token can either gain 4+ life or trade with a 2/1. When you think about it like that it starts sounding like a great deal. Becomes even better with eerie. It's like a pauper version of Shark Typhoon lol.
Central Elevator/Promising Stairs….. 8 unlocked doors to win the game correct. Each Enchantment room has two doors that you can unlock. Meaning 2 per card if you unlock them. Am I wrong?
Unwilling Vessel looks interesting, since its death trigger does not specify what counter. so some random +1/+1 counter should also count, even a stun counter if very weird stuff happened before.
OK so in this infinite house world, I get where the monsters are coming from. But like, the humans have to be born and raised and stuff right? Wouldn't there have to be a city somewhere?
They either were from Duskmourn before the house took over or they’re from other planes and got pulled or tricked into entering the house from the outside.
@@scottserage9022 Interesting theory. I figure they're unexplainable random secksy white 26 year olds warped in by bad art direction choices. Which is totally fine by me.
Marina Vendrell's Grimoire turns Stifle and Consign to Memory into fog effects. It also effectively costs just 3 with Archway of Innovation because for once the cost is 5 generic and 1 blue. I'm not saying it's broken, but something tells me it's way stronger than what it looks like. Imo 1 copy in all decks that use Stifle/Consign anyway for Lotus Field, Pact of Negation and Nulldrifter is 100% worth it. It also sort of gets around the emblem of the new 3 mana red creature that prevents you from gaining life for the rest of the game.
Whoa, seeing the new set reviews spooked me! Woot!

Thank Nicole for getting them up so fast!
@@JimDavisMTG Is Nicole the same Nicole that does @MagicArcanum with Ryan Gomez?

Mindskinner and Syr Konrad is the stupid jank that I’ll definitely be trying in historic.
Love how on top of the uploads you are. Great dedication
going to marathon these. thanks for the insights, Jim!
The Mindskinner + Sunspine Lynx to make Mindskinner actually deal damage seems like a hilarious meme deck!
Love the thematic shirt for the review!
“Cursed Windbreaker” was my nickname in college
Side note: leyline of transformation into the gremlin lifelink card in limited 🥸

If only there was a mechanic in Standard built around saccing artifacts and enchantments (bargain)
PS: another difference is that you can still lose to milling, so you can't get too crazy with the card draw
you can also flip coveted falcon and give the artifact to your oponent, so they get the bad effect
24:53 Does Pirahna Fly synergize with any survivor effects?
30:11 I think The Mindskinner is an insane blocker. It's a removal magnet, but still
Great set review as always. My one pet peeve though is when Jim calls bad, janky cards "commander cards." They're still bad in commander 😂

Comment for engaaaaaagement. Love the channel
Hell yeah!

I think u/w and u/r are the two decks I'm most excited to draft this format.
16:08 this card can just be a 3/2 with flash in limited. The floor seems pretty high to me.
Entity Tracker would be pretty good in a [Eriette, the Beguiler] themed deck, card draw for casting those aura's in blue, not a bad deal.
Considering we have Nightmares in this set, Elementals in Bloomburrow, and Dinos in Ixalan, I reallly hope a return to Ikoria is in the cards in the near future.
full set review. great Job Jim!
Oculus would go perfect in a Helping Hand/Recommission shell imho, would be fun to try with Mentor also

You're probably right about Floodpits Drowner in constructed, but it would be cool if it saw play.
Okay some quick scryfall search for nonsense you can do with Grimoire:
Psychic Frog + Feast of Sanity = Draw/discard your whole deck and ping them to death
Peace of Mind = For {W} turn one card into three
Heartwarming Redemption = Discard your hand and draw twice as many cards
Greed's Gambit = Draw 9
Horizon Chimera or Sheoldred + Laboratory Maniac = Instantly draw your entire deck and win the game
Queza
Very excited for the set
Wouldn't it be cool for the butterfly emblem in the middle to change color according to the rarity of the card currently shown?
Yes that would be cool, but also very difficult to implement
I’m gonna guess Overlord of the Floodpits for Best-in-Show.

21:46 wait for Ali to build around it haha
Does manifest dread works with spells? And if yes, how?
Bloomburrow B2M hasnt ended for me yet 😭😭😭
Will blue be restored to n it's former glory
Will this sleeper pick finally be the redemption for the slither wisp debacle of 2020.
That’s a lot of Flash.
HIT THE BUTTONS!
I think bomb common should be manifest dread- o- war.
Is it just me? I’m on an iPad and everything is blurry. I can’t read the cards.
Tale of Tamiyo is awful… I hope I’m wrong, but that thing seems like hot garbage in almost any scenario

Question, if a room card is copied does it make a copy with both sides fully unlocked?
You have 0 rooms unlocked. Rooms must be cast to be unlocked.
@@Icious82 Good to know, thanks.
blooooooo
Glimmerburst with caretaker’s talent???
I wish, but when you consider the typical layout of a UW caretaker control, you can include pretty much just deduce and talent.
@@MCKejml yeah deduce is just better
