The smallest plane I was on (Athens, GA to Atlanta, GA) was a 12 passenger prop plane. I prayed all the way looking at those props spinning.

i always say that yeah more people die in car wrecks than do plane crashes... but at the same time, more people survive car wrecks than they do plane crashes
That last joke feels frightening real. Surprised they just ask people what they weigh and trust them.
I also believe they put in _less_ fuel the heavier the passengers are. Fuel has weight, too. They don't need a lot to get from A to B, so to save weight they'll start to cut back from a full tank if their passenger group is too heavy.
I don't mind flying in principle. But I do mind the bad food and hours in an uncomfortable seat where I can't stretch because there's always a dang cart in the aisle selling stuff or serving the bad food!
Won't be getting on one these days.

Asking for a person's weight is so the plane can be balanced. Seriously. There is a small airline in Hawaii, Mokulele Air, that flies between Maui, Oahu, Molokai and perhaps one of the other islands using turbo prop 15 passenger planes.

just started seeing this guy on yt and funny part is there was a woman who lied about her weight when asked when boarding a small plane where balance is very important .. she was like 250 lbs and they asked how much she weighed and she said 100 lbs so they asked her to step on the scale they use for luggage to get her real weight... someone posted the video on tiktok and people were either angry they embarrassed her or angry at her for putting everyone at risk.. from tik tok went to news channels and they put it on yt lol .. no one wants to risk having anything go wrong because some lady is toooo vain to say what her real weight is. lol..
