Lovely job, but I didn't learn anything new. I was hoping you could explain how to get an accurate width to ensure that the wrapping is tight. I find that there can be as little as 1mm between fitting and loose!
Thanks man! I ruined the leather grip on my longsword and wanted to know how to do it properly... plus now I can change the boring black grip to something fancier.
THIS IS AMAZING. I know its just a little handle, but what's amazing is your generosity in sharing your craft with others! Thank you!! My grandfather is no longer around to teach me this valuable skill, so I am lucky there are those of you who don't mind sharing🙏 What is the string/leather you use to do the actual "sewing"? ...if that's the proper term.
I immediately thought back to my high school days in geometry class when I came to this question myself . But THIS method is way more accurate than any circumference method . So you can suck it mr. geometry teacher . UA-cam comment section got my back
the handle turned out great. though if you need to do more work there are better ways th thread your needle. if you pull the string through a half inch or so, then pass the needle through the center of the string twice at a quarter inch apart. slide this up to the eye of the needle. pull the excess string through the eye, then pass the needle the rest of the way through the string. this will give you a better thread for leatherworking since it leaves no knots to get hung up on. (you won't need to widen the holes with an awl)
Not really into the whole ASMR thing. But that's a darn going gig setup you got there. I too was spirited away in the night as a child by elves who taught me the art of leather crafting.
I want to wrap securteer handles. They’re not cylindrical and i don’t know how to work out the width I’d need to cut the leather. I’m guessing 1mm thick veg tan is suitable. Given that you want a tight fit and stretching the leather ,how did you work out the width just on a simple cylinder wrap?
Scrap leather strip, wrap around to overlap, scratch the spot, unfold and measure. Make the piece slightly smaller, but only slightly. I'd go thicker than 1mm for most uses. If you want it tighter after lacing, wet it. Also one step he didn't do here is dampen, let rest, then tap down the lace area with a smooth object (like a hammer with a smooth head or a steel pipe) in order to smooth out the stitch area.
Making my own cane and this was a game changer!
I really enjoyed this one. Such a small piece of leather made, made such a big change.
Lovely job. Leather is so nice to work with. 👍🇬🇧
Very cool! I might try this as a knife handle wrap! Thanks
need to know so info like calculating the width of the leather to make sure the sewn area is tight. the spacing on the holes etc.
I've learned more watching your channel than I learned in shop class.
Extremely informative without saying a word. 👍🏼👍🏼

Yes, and that one will definitely rotate.
Loved the drone footage at the end really makes the video keep up the good work me good man.. Thumbs up
Very nice and relaxing video. Lovely handle.
pretty proud of the new clamp purchase aye!
I was so satisfied and even turned up my volume for the asmr but then at 1:29 💀💀
Thank you. This was a wonderful and well produced video, I cannot believe you’re not incredibly popular yet!
Thanks so much, just out here grinding! 🤙🏼

Do you recommend treating the axe handle before you wrap it? If so what do you use to treat it?
Beautiful!
That was satisfying
Payton Nieves thanks man!!
Thanks for the video. I want to do this with pens! 😀
That was cool
Donald Cerrone doing crafts , nice video I subbed because there's a lack of bs

Probably a waxed linen in this case although waxed nylon is pretty common
Yaaaaaassss!!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
lol ?
what is this stitch called? I want to replicate it for a handle and I need to know how to finish it off!
Baseball stitch.
You did not use glue to wrap the leather why ? It might move.
Very nice, thanks.
Thanks for watching it!
What is the tool you used to make the holes in in the leather?
Rainbow Nation I believe it’s just called a leather punch. You can get some leather crafting kits on amazing for pretty cheap.
Also, one might call it a stitching awl:)
how did you get the measurement around the handle???
I just took a string and wrapped it around the handle and then took the measurement of the string.
Masking tape is my method, wrap a strip around the handle, one cut across the tape, peel it off and measure your now flat band.

Awesome, thanks for that information. Do you by chance have a link to a video showing this process, I can almost picture it all in my head. Haha

Jesus christ you cringy guy haha

Chefalo?
I DO NOT THINK THE GUY CAN TALK????????
In other words…cut leather, punch holes, lace it like a pair of shoes. Voile.

Not gonna hold!!😑
It’s been holding great for 2 years now. Please explain why it wouldn’t?
Less asmr, more "tell me what you're doing".
You’re the one who literally clicked on the video and it says in the title “ASMR”.
You hid main techniques for stitching. Wasted my time.
Your very welcome! Thanks for watching. 😂

Very nice camera work
Thanks man!!
