I was attending NYU when they filmed “Hair” there and I saw them film this song in front of the actual Waverly theater. I had no idea who she was, of course, but I was so bummed when they cut it from the movie. I so wish it would surface as an extra.
How adorable. I worked with Annie several times on readings and showcases of plays by my late friend Ed Kelleher back in the 70s. Annie told me that she didn't mind that "Frank Mills" got cut from the HAIR movie so much, but that a reprise of I believe "Easy to be Hard" at a picnic scene before they tried to spring Berger was a really lovely moment. Pity none of the exclusions are on the bare-bones dvd.
OMG I love her voice! When she's singing in OITNB first season I was shocked! And now I remember to her! I saw Hair (film/musical) when I was little! She's fantastic! :D
Hm, still only two women whose three performances of this secret Hair favorite of mine sound right to me: - Original Broadway Cast singer (deepest apologies to her for her name escaping my memory, dammit) - Annie Golden in Forman's Hair - Annie Golden here in this heartwarming performance. Man, she's conveing so much here, a true old school professional in the best possible sense. Kudos for the upload !!!!
Yeah, Shelley Plimpton was the original Haïr Frank Mills singer, to this day for me no one has achieved her performance, and I would add that not even the musical instruments (and arrangements) they used at that time have been excelled to this day.
My husband and I just got around to watching her episode of High Maintenance, and then I shared this video with him (he didn't know her from Hair). What a stunning performance!!! No one else's performance of Frank Mills comes close to the quirky pathos of the song as Annie delivers it. After watching this video, we watched a few videos of Annie's band The Shirts. She's simply incredible. :)
Dewdrop? DEWWDRROPP!?! Anybody remember that bit with Annie and Rodger Bumpass? Hysterically funny and poignant as well. But yeah, this is a brilliant rendition of this song. I wasn't sure about it for the first few seconds, but by the middle of the second verse I was oblivious to my surroundings. Captivated.
Pardon Me being too lazy to find My Hair Album and try to see who the original person was who sang it on the album. Is Annie Golden the one who sang it ???? I just figured Her age may be about right, heck, Im 66 now and was about 14 when I bought the album.
Well, orange is the new black is a show about a normal woman ending up in prison. Norma is also is also in the prison and she plays a very quiet, lovely woman. But if you really want to know more about the show its on Netflix
Does she have any children? For the last 10 years or so, there is a young lady I she every so often on movies that looks just like she did in, The movie Hair. The girl is the spitting image of her. Any one know anything?
My goodness. She performs this song so beautifully. So much nuance. And the way she shifts her vocal quality is absolutely masterful. WOW.

@@fedtho Fun fact: Shelley Plimpton & Keith Carradine are the parents of actress Martha Plimpton
Yeah, Shelley Plimpton was the original Haïr Frank Mills singer, to this day for me no one has achieved her performance, and I would add that not even the musical instruments (and arrangements) they used at that time have been excelled to this day.

Not criticizing -- just curious -- is this video and audio of this clip out of sync or is she lip-syncing?

+Karl Marx Perhaps I am aging myself, at 43, but who is Norma and what is OITNB? Please?

Just listen to Shelly Plimpton. The original from the 60's
She was in the movie version of Hair, wasn't she?
Sophie: Yes, she was.
Yes Annie was in the movie but sadly the song was cut from the film in the editing process
