I bought 8 of these when they went on clearance. It sucks that the project was cancelled. I was hoping that MEP Toys would release the Shock Trooper.
Unfortunate that this figure had to be cancelled due to them, having issues with the tightness of the joints, and so on, not to mention the company owner, deciding to not renew the license, I was awaiting these
What these are, essentially are QC rejects, as the factory that was producing them was having issues with joint tolerance as far as I know and, unfortunately, they never moved to final production or ironed out any of the giant problems, so these are the samples that were produced and unfortunately yeah they’re not gonna get any better, they’re technically sold as a model kit just to make sure that people understand that this is not a Finished product, it’s close, but it’s still a little ways from being so
Fantastic! Too bad MEP Toys couldn't keep the license.
I have 2 of these on my desk and am really impressed with the quality. Especially at such a low price. Yes they need glue on the joints but it does not impair the ability to pose them. Not wanting to do anything irreversible I used conventional glue on the legs, rear and cannon mounts. I didn't notice the instruction sheet so just used the C shaped clip, it works just fine with the booster mode.
thanks for your honest and great review!!
Thank you for making this
I got 2 min into the video and I already bought it. it's about time this little guy came out.
same here lol i can work with the joints being loose but i wasnt going to pass up the chance to getting at least a couple of these as soon as i saw they were a thing 😆
I had 3 of these on preorder with BBTS and it was canceled. I had assumed the company went completely out of business. Will go pick up a couple now.
I remember seeing these for preorder on BBTS and now they're no longer listed :(
Yes, because the joints were so loose, the manufacturer pulled them from retail. Instead they were sold directly via the MEPToys website for less money and a disclaimer that the joint tolerances aren't good and you're going to need to do some work to really enjoy them.
Great to see a review again
I just ordered two of them, I mean for that price why not.
Well, considering all we had before was that red toy that ended up being re-released as that exossquad thing, That people think that all those old toys are worth like, three hundred and fifty dollars used online, and that the the original scout never looked anything like what we saw on the show, even with this being as big of a mess as this is, And I am used to a lot of absolute crap in the past from harmony gold and toynami and all the terrible handling and shows and other gouging HG has done to this property over the years, It's still worth getting this just to have something that actually looks like an Invid scout on my desk. Which is saying something.
You are right, we just need to glue those hip joints to the body, however, I tried CA glue, Tamiya model glue, and epoxy, but none of them would stick to this type of plastic. Still for display it's a great sculpt and a pity Meiccoms couldn't complete the Shock Trooper. I reached out to them for advice on glue and they kindly replied quickly, but didn't have any other solutions.
I put super glue on the peg, let it dry to make the peg a bit thicker, and then reinstalled the leg later and that worked until I pulled the leg off and put it back on again.
A mighty review for a -meh- MEP toy. 😏
It is unfortunate that they didn't release the Shock Trooper.
So is he done making Macross/ Robotech collectibles? He should go back to making figures like the Breetai figure and do other characters.
Where is your B2FIVE ride armours review?
Oof, that's going to take a while. I took them out for the first time as part of this review but lots of toys in the backlog ahead of them.
Super dissapointed by those lose joints. Always wanted an Invid Scout and Shock trooper and the other Invid mecha. Also would love to see a proper Bioroid troopers from the Southern Cross Robotech.
in Robotech titles, it is 'Robotech - 'The Masters (series)'. "Super Dimension Fortress Southern Cross" is the original Japanese show name, transliterated into English (a bit of an... odd show to "localize and edit" into 'Robotech' ).
☺ a Bioroid properly sized to any of those 'Masters' era mecha (from the past or new ; like the Sentinel Riobot "Mospeda", "Alpha fighter" ).
The one toy I always wanted as a kid and we never ever got, and we still have never gotten it, Is the enforcer. And to be quite honest, considering how much money there is to be made here. It is absolutely absurd that nobody has figured out how to make toys to exploit middle aged people's childhood Nostalgia. Like, can you imagine if we had proper, sexy sera model and mecha ? Or rook bartley, who actually looks like rook bartley on A properly colored cyclone?? Good lord. 😂
@@provisionalhypothesis Would so love the enforcer or that one that Corg had
That is 1/48 scale? They were that small?
Yep, official stat is 2.5 meters tall so the Scouts were indeed tiny... but Mospeada was inconsistent in how everything was portrayed
Harmony Gold will more then likely complain about it and rry to sue the company.
It's officially licensed so no worries there!
@@ScorchedEarthToys I was just saying, because they're known for causing trouble.
