This was helpful to me, thanks. My biggest issues are with the hose and electrical connections. Each one has a trick to it and if you don't know the trick it can slow you down. I bought my 2011 in 2013 with 18K miles on it so I know that the plugs were never changed. In your case, the give-away are the white wire ties holding the wires on the driver's side of the intake manifold. The original ties are black and clip into holes on the bracket beneath the bundle. The white ties indicate that someone has been in there before, probably to change the plugs. Oh well, won't hurt anything except your wallet to change them again!
BTW, my check engine light has come on after changing the plugs which most likely means that I disturbed a hose enough to cause a leak. Anyone else have this problem?
@@elibaierI am about to do the same thing... Today..... Ordered the Parts you linked to in this video (Picked up a Used 2011 SRX with 140K Miles... Runs Great, but have no history on services... So YOUR VIDEO made it easy to understand!.... Just wanted to say THANK YOU!....
@@elibaierFinished up the Job, Thanks to your video and the Car is running like it was given a second life..... went from 20mpg avg to 25mpg.... Highway driving i hit a whopping 530miles to the Tank..... Those Coils with OE Sparks not the NGKs (questionable Authenticity reviews made me go OE)....BUT!!!! Regardless.... This Was an amazing UPGRADE and I recommend those coils and your video made it simple and easy.... (No left over parts lol)......
It’s very hard to do… my advice is to find a local mechanic and avoid the dealerships if at all possible. I’ve had really bad experiences with the local dealerships.
Hey bud...well the far back left side sparkplug under the manifold(i think thats what its called) the silver metal thing, to which the Left far back spark plug is under...well thats what I wanted to know, how you removed it? Over all i think i got it...will give another try tommorrow, I got all 5 spark plugs replaced , without having to remove anything...thank you tiss all🤣
@@elibaier Not trying to tell others how to do their thing. But I work on the principle that if I have to tear down to a certain point, I might as well replace some of the things (such as gaskets) so I don't have to do that tear down again in the near future. About to do another spark plug change on my 2012 SRX with 207,000 miles on it and still going strong. I've felt a little occasional shudder, not sure what it is, but since this vehicle has paid for itself several times over, I figure I'll change plugs, injectors, coil packs and all the gaskets involved to see if that makes it run smoother.
@@verohandymikewhat was the outcome? For the life of me I didn’t hear or see the engine he was working on. I just bought a 2011 SRX 2.8 Turbo. Any suggestions?
Need to torque the intake manifold bolts and tighten bolts in a patern
That is correct! Thanks for mentioning that!
I'm scared

Very true!
Gap on the spark plugs????
The gap is usually between 0.028 in and 0.060 in, but the ideal gap is provided in the vehicle's manual.m - in this case 0.044 in. Hope that helps!
Eli how is your Caddilac with the NGX Plugs? I was curious... since it has been a while.... Can you do a follow up?
I’ve had no issues! It’s been running great!

Congrats man!! That’s awesome to hear!!!
Was you having a misfire?
No, no misfire. It probably would have turned into one shortly after though… I’m getting ready to do it again soon for my 150,000 mile tune up!
@elibaier just bought a 2011 SRX how should I choose a reputable service department. Thank you

Did you get it?!?!
Plz keep update , love to know everything about srx
You got it! Have you checked out my most recent videos about the SRX yet? I love this car
Did it sound rough at all prior to plug replacements? I noticed you said "that's the culprit" when you saw the bad plug.
Yes it was running a little off
The proper procedure, even for a DIY'er, is to remove the intake manifold completely so you can also replace the gasket at the same time.
Nice to know. Thanks!
Thanks for the info!!

What size is the ratchet to get the coils out. Nobody mentions that one
Jesus, just fucking try a couple different sockets, not that complicated or hard to do, people find any stupid reason to whine and cry
unknown..
how hard is it to take out the back three coils do i need to remove throttle body
I didn't. Left it attached to intake.
He’s right
Does anyone know the firing order.. 2011 srx 3.0L
I never could find that info
VERY helpful! You've given me confidence that I can do this and save some money. Thanks!
You can definitely do it!! Best of luck!!
How did you clean out the dirty spark plug/coil bucket?
With some rags
A 1 1/2 inch(approx)
PVC duck taped to end of vacuum cleaner hose.
That’s a great solution!
Did u change any gaskets?
he should have ....
Yes, it just wasn't shown in the video
