This is just in time. I can demonstrate but struggling to explain how to play very softly in the higher range, think the clarinet solo Pines of Rome third movement. It needs to be Super controlled, clear. Thanks for this explanation.
Oh also, my student thinks support includes biting, so of course we get squeaks or pinched tone. So I’ve tried to explain the fast air, corners in, but chin is still pointed “down” to avoid the bite......do you agree? Any other tips? Thanks so much.
Hmm, you could have them try playing some long tones with a double lip embouchure and coaching them to take deep belly breaths (I tell my students support comes from deeper in the body). A few minutes of double lip could help reset their air support and get the tongue, embouchure, etc, all working together correctly.
