Really enjoy the commentary..... Gold Run was my home back in the day... '50s. Lots of good memories.
Garry, I use 2-3' of 100 lb mono fishing line attached to the bottle around the neck then attached to a 12oz fishing weight with the brass wire in it that way it doesn't move in the current. It's always floating right next to you when you are working. A little extra weight to pack but no more bottles floating away with gold in it!

Love your videos! Went panning for gold in Alaska after watching your panning video. I was working in SE Alaska as a CT/X-Ray tech since Aug 21st, and just came home to Florida. What a beautiful experience I had!! I found gold the first time i panned City creek! It was 4 little flecks, but it was gold! Thanks for your inspiration, and hurry back to the creek you were at for the placer gold, crevacing. That is so cool seeing it, you do well on the videos! Seeing this three years after being posted. That boil hole with big iron relics, possibly up stream a lode mine mill site? Might be worth a look see. That Cabin Site your were told about, back in the BFO detector days? Are you going to pack in a light VLF with good ground balance?

They’ve inspired me to do a little prospecting myself, and since I live within miles of the general “mother lode” strip of the Sierra Nevadas, I’ve been accumulating and fabricating tools and doing some planning for some prospecting by next week. Gary I scuba metal detect in Michigan for jewelry/coins, hunter safety orange duct tape works great on equipment. It fades in a couple of years but it's easy to apply. Great video

Great video as usual.... my sister has lost her snuffer bottle as well... we put rocks or weights in it .... we both bought the Bison Bottle Bandit 7cm carabiner on eBay to clip the bottle to our belts when sniping...haven't lost another bottle yet...

Do what I do with the snuffer bottle and take the top off and tie a shoe lace round the neck into a loop then put the top back on.use the loop as a slip knot and put it round your wrist or if your not under water just wear it like a necklace.so make sure that the lace is long enough.👍😉
Boss you really would benefit from a 12"x 1/2" cold chisle. Sure makes quik work of them narrow cracks!

I'm still finding too much current in the areas I want to be in. .I use that bright Blaze Orange Gorilla Tape around my sniper bottle for easy visibility... Hi Gary I enjoyed the video big time . It's been a busy summer for me over in the UK prospecting and sniping and haven't had the time to watch your vids ....just too much editing etc.. Anyway, the dark nights are now starting to draw in and your channel is now a great way to catch up on things over the pond so to speak. I think you have now made your mark on youtube as an "Authority " on the subject and good on ya fella.

I pretty much copied the gear setup that Gary uses in other vids. Not the diving suit like in this one. I went up far in northern parts of Sweden where gold is situated. Guess if i looked dumb when i got there and the bedrock whas about 1 m down below ground at its best! Dense vegetation and pinetrees made the 1400 km of driving of no use. Creeks where packed with boulders carried there by glacial ice i guess . I would have been better off prepared with a caterpillar , chainsaw and boxes with dynamite! Well i have 11 months to prepare for next summer. I still enjoy Garys vids .
Gary, as usual you have provided great content coupled with awesome video skills. I have a couple of questions.
1. Have you ever tried magnetizing your sniping tool? I do this so when I get to the bottom of the crevasses, if I have magnetite on the tool, I make sure I snuffer the crack out real good.
2. What is the make and model of your digital scale? Mine just crapped out, and needs to be replaced soon.
I'm not to impressed with my scale, I have only had it a couple of years and its starting to have glitches every now and then. If they didn't cost so much I might think about buying a bunch and do a review on them. hum - food for thought.
A Few strips of red electric tape makes the snuffer easier to spot.
I've watched all of your videos, and love it when you go sniping!
On a side note, what do you think about that pointed thing that looks like a spearhead or arrowhead? I couldn't get a good look at it, so it could be the finial of a post on an old iron fence!.. lol

I have seen some very large pieces come out of Colorado, I would do a little research you may be close to a nice area.
Last time I went snipping I was left holding the bag. Oh, that was snipe hunting. Nice gold. The water looked refreshing. It's hot here, think I'll go to the Gratiot river and lay in it for awhile. Maybe some gold will find its way into my pockets. Thanks.

Just watch one of your videos you were doing tailings behind the old bucket dredger I know some spots that are by bed rock out in an area about five years ago I worked a spot just like that I just didn’t know how to get that Fine gold out I would find it did know how to separate it

I am up by Chico, about 80 miles north of you. You can prospect all most anywhere on national forest land except where someone has a claim.

Where do you get the longer tube for the snuffer bottle?
The snuffer I use comes with a long tube. I get them from Keene Engineering.
I have a place not too far from where I live here in Wyoming it's Bedrock canyons in the river looks just like the river that you Prospect in mine in I was just wondering I found a big flake there one day what do you think the odds of finding a big nugget would be
bedrock holds the Gold pretty good check the area for what was found in the past

What do you do with the lead that you find?
When I had the store open, I would melt it down and make diving weights out of it. Now I make fishing weights out of most of it.
Usually buy the time other people get there, I'm the guy fishing. I beat them to it.
