Serval Vs Cheetahs in Serengeti

- Опубліковано 21 жов 2024
- Video taken by me in the Serengeti National Park(Tanzania) on 01 March 2009. It shows how a brave Serval Cat fights against four grown up Cheetahs and drives them away. It personifies that attack is the best defence.
i love how the cheetahs are more like "Wtf is this thing?" and then they just kind of look at it like "it looks like us but we can't eat i" type thing

Cheetah-Wtf is this
Cheetah2-Can we eat???
Ma6be its your kid
If it was a prude of lions it will kill him.
Or like checking if it's a cheetah cub
that serval has big balls to face those cheetahs
He didn't have much of a choice. If he ran, the cheetahs would catch him pretty easily.
all cats are brave
Yeah, even though they ARE the second fastest cat
Serval can run 58 mph it has a sporting chance if he gets the first Sprint..
Predators don't like to get hurt killing their prey . Even though the 4 cheetahs would win against a serval at least one of the cheetahs would end up with an open wound . It's not like a wild cheetah can say,"well I get workers comp".
Those cheetahs didn't want to attack that serval, they didn't focus completely in that serval, they thought: what a weird cat!
Exactly
No they wanted to eat it. This is a young cheetah pride. You see the white fluff on their back? That means they are very young and just have left their mothers care, a lot of these are probably brothers. Anyways, they don’t know how to hunt and are learning, and cheetahs don’t like animals that fight back. They are too fragile for that.
Im sure the serval made it just fine. Cheetahs wouldn't risk an injury/wound. And with wild cats it usually goes like this. The smaller the cat, the more fierce.
not really lmao
yea really ''lmao''
***** smaller cats are not really that aggressive unless they have to be in the situation they are in most of the time they withdraw
I could be wrong but if the serval took off the cheetah might look at it as a chase situation of which the serval wold clearly lose. Servals are expert pouncers, not expert sprinters, so they would clearly lose against a cheetah much less multiple. This is versus just sitting there and holding ones ground like "hey I'm not here to mess with you, but I am here and I will stand my ground."
Love both animals.
badmnz123 Versus a predator if you run you are dead. They will take you down. The only hope is to face the enemy.
The bad thing about being attacked by cheetahs is that you can't run away.
Those cheetahs are young & doesn't look like they will attack. They were just curious.
Herkus Kaminskas also the Serval is the second fastest cat on earth
Not sure why, but I sort of doubt that peregrine falcons are the fastest cats on Earth.
Soridan lmao
they were talking abour cats. Cheetahs are the first fastest and servals are the second
Pretty amazing watching cheetahs test the braveness of this little serval. I'm sure they had no intent to eat it but they're smart and would probably attack it if it turned tail. Amazing survival instinct by the serval cat, held it's ground and I'm sure the cheetahs realized that getting scratched up wouldn't be worth the tiny meal.
The serval has a very strong chance of escaping if the cheetahs had intended to kill. The servals rival cheetahs in overall athleticism
You have to be tough as shit to survive in the land of cheetahs, leopards and lions.
India used to be: tiger, cheetah, lion, and leopard up until the late 19th century. Imagine surviving there.
***** You forgot about tigers.
***** Haha nope. You can't outrun, outclimb, or outswim them.
Cheetahs are actually very weak, a hyena would cause more damage
@@sarban1653 They forgot about tiger's? TIgers dont live in africa
I agree with you. Not only are cats the greatest predators, they are also cute. I love their amazing eyes and beautiful faces.
Cheetahs are built to chase down at speed; they're not so good with potential prey that doesn't run! The serval knew that if she ran she would have no chance, so she did the right thing and stood up to them.
The serval is the second fastest cat in the animal kingdom
Serval is the second fastest cat but not the second fastest mammal. A gazelle is much faster than a serval and it still couldn’t outrun a cheetah.
Of course the serval survived without a scratch
+Vinit Bajpai Too bad we didn't get to see that happen :|
+Vinit Bajpai My Name is Innocentia from Aquavision TV productions, please send me an email at: innocentia@aquavision.co.za we'd like to license your video for possible usage in a show. Thanks
Kenneth Hosmillo serval can easily outrun those big cats.
Antonio T.E.A 😂😂 nah my dude. Cheetahs are still faster. The serval is second fastest cat
@@yiyatsen Nothing on land can out run a cheetah, nothing.
That's a brave Serval. Those Cheetas were not aggressive at all , the Serval was, which kept him alive.
Omg
I love this video. I'm a cheetah therian and my best friend is a serval therian. Thank you so much!!!❤
This video is very interesting. The Serval may be smaller than the cheetah, but you can tell by the way it protects itself, that it means business. The Cheetah, though bigger, won't risk a wound that could be life threatening. If you notice how the Serval is VERY quick/agile - striking out, and going on it's back, getting in crouch position, and then twisting about AGAIN. It serves a MUCH better chance at standing it's ground, than it would if it were to run.
There was no bullying , they just smelled it both curiosity and checking if it was a threat. But If it were lions, they are real bullies.
Hyenas are, they bully lions
Greatest Ever A lion could break a hyenas spine.
@@emilysunicornsplaysroblox4140 Yes, I've seen that happen when two male brothers came upon one of their siblings or their mother being harassed by a bunch of hyenas, maybe 15 to 20 and they were calling for reinforcements. The two brothers came with a fury rarely seen. They were going berserk I had never seen anything like that. Then on of the brothers did crush the spine on one and it was paralyzed and another one found its way into the lions mouth at the neck. The male was just walking around with the thing dead and hit had it by the neck. I really would love to find that clip.
Lions are awful. Assholes. Like hippos. Fuck them.
i was born in Tanzania but i've never have a chance to visit #serengeti but i hope next year i'll make it
The only cat in Africa a cheetah can bully
+H Scott They could, in a documentary, a group of cheetahs chased a leopard away.
+H Scott also in a Disney documentary a mother cheetah named sita defended her cubs against 4 hyenas.
+H Scott Theres an article of three male cheetahs, after they found the male leopard, they proceeded to stalk it and the leopard noticed the cheetahs and stalked them as well. When they were facing each other, they started growling and hissing at each other until the male leopard broke the stalemate and ran towards the cheetahs. Both cats fought and continued making sounds at each other until the cheetahs had to run. Both cats were injured.
+H Scott Hey! Cheetahs are not that weak, they are so underrated that some people think they could not even fight a single serval. If cheetahs were motivated and forced to fight, they could maybe just maybe injure a leopard or even kill one.
+H Scott I know that leopards are stronger and better fighters than cheetahs, but does not mean a cheetah is not built to fight it can't fight and injure something? Are male leopards made of steel or what? If no, then i don't see why a few cheetahs can't injure a leopard. Im sick of this already.
Awesome! Cheetahs are no fools and won't attack cratures that can bite and scratch. It must have been terrifying for the serval to be surrounded by four big and agile cats, risking to be attacked from any direction.. very good video
Cheetahs have been becoming more of a social cat which was never seen before 20 years ago.
those were young cheetahs and their mother
@@okparadaniel3255 the males actually do form packs as well helps them fend off larger predators who’d usually steal from them
Because there was no UA-cam 20 years ago.
SO WHAT HAPPENED ???????? Amazing footage , thank your for sharing it . But why did it cut off so soon?
Actually the Serval ran away after that and I was not able to film it.
this is insane this video should have way more views
That's one brave serval. Awesome cat!
Would be cool if part of the large bill you pay to go on safari they had some sort of adjustable phone holder so people could get steady shots. Otherwise, glad the Cheetahs seemed to back off when their mom came into the picture, hoping the brave Serval survived.
I have a savannah as well and he is fearless, never backs down and does not get intimidated.
The serval is lucky, cheetahs in general are not aggressive and light weight of the big cats....had it been a lion or leopard...☠️
Cheetahs could have harmed the Serval had that been the intent. The sub adults were curious rather than furious.
cheetahs aren't big cats and they're the second largest small cat after the puma
Had they had a mind to, they could and would have ripped it to pieces. Predators don't tolerate competition.
@@okparadaniel3255
"second largest small cat" is a confusing statement. I mean the whole thing is considering a mountain lion/cougar/puma are typically larger than a leopard...up to the size of a jaguar in Canada. Just that the whole message kinda implies a puma is on the smaller side of a large cat like a cheetah.
/да/да/ гепард слабоват/ 🐆 лео нужен
Great video! Hope the Serval made it out alive!
Thanks a lot. Yes the Serval made it out alive.
Did Darth Vader film this?
I hope the serval got away :'(
shinaz000 THIS.
+shinaz000 its a wild animal not a pet!!!!!!!!!
Yes he got away, its an agressive cat and his second at speed after the cheetah
shinaz000 nope, it died.right after you commented..not saying that it’s your fault..but also not saying it’s not your fault..
Amazing capture 🐆
Good thing these are kids. They still have their mohawks. This is just curiosity. Servals lucky. Mom showed up at the end but i think it was also just investigating.
Courage for the Serval cat standing up to four grown-up Cheetahs.
Absolutely True
Those were not adult cheetahs but young cheetahs and you can tell that they were inexperienced. What happened in the end?
Good video. What happened in the end? Thanks.
Thanks. The Serval escaped .
haha cool footage. funny Cheetahs don't seem to be as aggressive as other big cats, they seem more curious the anything
Scenes like this break my heart. Hate to see one animal out-numbered like that. Lucky for the Serval that it was not a lion pride.
@Expeditionwithbass I think that you can get a hybrid serval nowadays. Isn't an ashera cat a mix between a several and a housecat? They're selling them in many places now, but they are very expensive. The wonderful thing about an ashera is that it looks like a serval, but is tame like a housecat.
Servals are lil Cheetahs because the round black points and the speed they also reach about 80 KM/H...the same way Caracals are lil Cougars
fun fact: this comment makes a lot of sense because
1. servals and caracals are each other's closest relatives
2. cheetahs are in a family of their own but their closest relatives are Pumas/cougars/mountain lions/florida panthers and 40 other names you can call it
3. servals are the second fastest cat in the world
I remember reading cheetahs avoid confrontation because if they get hurt they can die from starvation since they really on their speed to hunt.
@Rayarena the cat breed you think of is the Savannah not Ashera.
I Love seval's and the person recording could yell at the Big cats !!
Servals are small cat. Why are they put at there live together with cheetah, leopard, and lion ? Can they survive ?
Nice video
So, how did this end? Did the cheetahs finally leave the serval alone?
which is the strongest amongst them?? caracal or cheetah??
I really doubt they were going to eat it... it looked like the serval had stumbled across them, rather than being found during a hunt.. and most animals won't risk unnecessary injury. They need to be in good condition to survive. I've seen a small cat chase a bear up a tree for that same reason. The bear knew it could kill the cat but didn't want to risk having it's eyes scratched out, etc.
So chances are the serval was ok.
Also the cheetahs were cubs (you can tell by their manes) and that might have been their first time seeing a serval.
Agreed. Cheetah are generally not aggressive like the other large cats, probably due to the fact they don't have the musculature. If the serval had the same encounter with a lion or leopard then things would have been very different.
For any tourist taking a camcorder to Africa, glue a small piece of foam over the mic please!
douglas mccullough hes darth vader, he cant help it
What's with the deep breathing? I'd like to know what his other hands doing?
I love it. The serval chose to fight rather than flee.
Versus a predator if you run you are dead. They will take you down. The only hope is to face the enemy.
Dan Kelly
Plus cheetahs love a good chase.
How did it end up there?
Where on earth did you come up with them running at 50mph? - My first response
Wow, even someone who has spent years learning about wild cats can learn something new. -Me, after doing a little research.
Now that situation is the very definition of a predicament.
1:42 - Serval : "My attack angle is three sixty - so stay off!"
lol i like that guy... the way he explains everything is quite intriguing :>
Cheetah: who are you?
Serval: I'm you but smaller
cheetahs are not aggressive felines, they do not attack except to hunt. They have no aggression of lions, leopards or hyenas. Their character is docile
The serval is a cousin of the cheetah. Both have even dispositions and neither are aggressive toward humans or one another. Female cheetahs are loners, but males live in small packs, called "coalitions." Though these guys are merely curious and welcome something to break up the boredom of the day, when the intimidated serval strikes out, they do a bit of halfhearted bullying of their own. Nothing serious, but the serval IS encroaching on their territory, after all.
The moral of the story: If cheetah's are showing interest in you, don't try to run away; just stare back at them until they lose interest!
did he go away?
I love all of them ! Lol very beautiful cats
Definitely agree
where is the rest of the video?
bully the little ones. What is a serval doing in that area?
The serval lived?
did he/she win against those?
I can hear the serval meowing at the cheetahs!
great vid
I know you aren't supposed to intervene in nature like that but I woulda seriously been tempted to try and scare off the cheetahs.
we are part of nature just way more advance that's stupid how ppl claim to just let things happen because it's nature
320Kad Yeah, But I want to be able to see Animals live, we can intervene, but I’m doing so sometimes we make species go extinct😂
Uhh..no..risking your life for a cat that didnt need ur help sounds pretty dumb just saying
4our, so you think the Serval didn't need help? I think you're the one that sounds dumb. How about if you were outnumbered and being attacked in the street? Oh it's nature, no one will help you.
@@zariisofficial cheetahs are chill
Servals are the best! I have two descendants of the African Serval (Savannah's) and they are the bravest cats I've EVER seen!! Plus they are super smart - just like the Serval.
Nice shot
Little did they know that they were being filmed by Darth Vader.
is the cat alive ?
imagine the cat going home and be like 'hey honey i just fought off 4 cheetahs'
wonderfull animal video !
thank you for sharing this wonderful video,
it wold be more beautiful if you complete it ;-)
It's a coalition of 4 brothers.
"You came to the wrong neighborhood son".
what happened at last?????
that hiss and the way he moves so funny :3
looks like somebody got outnumber, i felt like this once out of a club i must say
Makes me wonder what club you were going to..?
Could a 70 pound pitbull or k9 90 pound police attack german shepherd beat or have a chance against any off those cats ?
Bawali Gend kyu pange liya kare re?
So did the little guy make it to safty i hope so but doubt it. now to find 4 servals vs 1 cheetah for balance lol. jking but i do it survived.
That's a badass serval
@abdi1983 Serval's aren't really THAT dangerous to Cheetahs. These were four young, very curious Cheetahs. If they were to be four fully grown Cheetahs wanting to kill, that Serval wouldn't stand much of a chance. Serval's are less robust than Cheetahs.
So.. did it get away?
amazing
SUGOOOOIII
Cheetahs are merely curious about the Serval.. They aren't interested in hunting it or attacking it. The serval is naturally concerned and is just outlining it's boundaries.
what a great interaction
What a great video.
Whut is dis? Can we eatz it?
*swipe!*
Nope!
If you were born the day the video was uploaded, you are now 14 years old.
Can a cheetah defeat a leopard?
seems like the cheetahs were more confused at the fact it looked like a baby version of them but smelled weird lol
Cheetahs were actually curious. Their intent was actually not to harm the Serval.
top level defence against 4 cheetahs
It's better I die than to run
Big respect to serval.
Absolutely
Cheetahs are my favorite big cats because they are SO wise and domestic-like. They seem so "humane" in the sense that they don't come across as killing machines like lions, except when they are hungry. I think they are the biggest cat to still purr. Cheetahs also like Cheetos (sorry, they hate them.) The serval is a Cheetah Mini-Me.
Well said!
Servals sind kleine Geparden da sie auch runde Flecken haben und relativ schnell rennen können mit 80 KM/H , so wie Karakale kleine Pumas sind
im wondering why the cheetahs didnt eat the serval....is it cause they realize that its basically one of them? im sure the cheetahs will eat whatever they can get their paws on
What happened?
What happend next
Very rare ... Wow.
