Love this. I have always admired Miss Penny, beautiful, smart and just so self-assured - representing us so beautifully! Thanks for inviting her I'm from Bermuda and Ms Commissiong's aunt and uncles lived there making a big impact including playing a key role in desegregation of our country. Was cool to hear about Miss Bermuda's support during the competition.

I was beyond thrilled to see Janelle crowned Miss Universe 1977! I believe the lst runner-up thought she would be announced the winner, but everyone was in for a pleasant surprise when Janelle won! So glad to know that she is doing well with her life today!

I think Janelle's 1st Runner Up assumed she won because @ that time the media pushed white/blonde women as the 'STANDARD' of beauty & no one thought any woman of colour stood a chance of winning hence it was a PLEASANT surprise😲NO wonder all Western Media houses went WILD when Penny won & wanted an interview with her. VERY DESERVING winner she was & she's still beautiful today.
