I genuinely like how this feels so much more honest and less forced than the previous two keynotes.
And whatever special training Mark's been taking to come off as a regular normal not-abnormal statistically average human is clearly paying dividends.

It's because he is trying so hard to convince people to adopt VR headset like we adopt smart phones. VR devices may become super advance but will never have the comfortable user experience like smart phones.

Thank you Facebook and Google soon for making these events live. It feels so much more interactive and has a lot more hype around it. So lame Apple doesnt do this anymore.
He's no Steve Jobs!! But this is almost as good as Apple's Crazy Expensive headset for a fraction of the price.
Apple's is mostly just for movie watching with 4k, imagine watching interstellar in front of the photo of a black hole
Zucc is preaching to the choir here for me, I'm already fully aboard the VR train and I've held off on buying a Quest 2 for years because I was waiting for the Quest 3 (I already had a Quest 1 and didn't feel like Quest 2 was enough of an upgrade to buy a whole new headset), but Quest 3 legitimately feels like a generational step forward. Day 1 purchase for me without question, especially at that price!
I know the quest 4 is most likely gonna come out, but I'm still going to be mad when it does (yes, ik I could just sell the quest 3 if I have it, but still)
also while it seems near perfect, the tracking for hands and controllers seems off unlike the quest pro, and they also don't have face/eye tracking like the pro, which is disappointing. I wouldn't mind the faster drain with both when I could have the battery bank accessory. Lastly, the controllers are still reliant upon double AA's instead of being rechargeable, which is not excusable. I wish at least that the lower end model had more space, or that the higher end had pretty much all of these features here included, I don't care about whatever "free" months of subscription they have on that. If they want to give people more value for that, let us pick 2 games for free or something.

It's been around in the Quest Pro for almost a year. Apple likes to pretend they invented everything but they're almost always playing catch up.

The glasses idea is the same that came out with the Amazon Echo Frames that integrate Alexa and they're on the third gen now. The future could bring up to merge the smartglasses with VR visors offering a new perspective of ordinary life. The Quest 3 came out so close to the next Black Friday deals that i'm thinking about waiting for the basic model price to go down but it's not easy to resist

@@owenehrlich I thought it was because they couldn't come up with an actual working product at the time, I was always looking forwards to it, I mean people use smart watches and smart accesories all the time, if a pair of sunglasses integrates seamlessly without making a fuss It might work unlike something attached at the side of it.

I'm not saying this isn't intriguing, but when it's whittled down to highlights, it's easy to tell how the same section of the audience is there to "WOOO!" and hype things up for the rest of us, and it is kind of hilarious.
It’s not prompted. The audience is comprised of Meta employees, and this usually happens even during internal events. Some people are just more vocal.

But I’ve had a Meta Quest 2 for a couple years now; it’s been fine for the price, but I haven’t found anything about the Metaverse itself that is particularly WOO-worthy.

Actually it is advancing much slower than it did ten years ago. It has taken so long to get to this level of AR and there is still far to go.

I think that they're trying to give specific, more realistic personalities to each AI (my guess). If you talk to ChatGPT, it's basically just a very friendly scholar, but it doesn't have its own lingo or quirks or anything like a friend might have.

Extremely doubtful that happens. Meta tried to put ads in paid quest games and those games died immediately as a result. Ads will be part of other app, but they will not be that intrusive, because Meta isn't a stupid company. They want these devices priced for everyone

I'm a low level quest user I only cared about the device being 40% lighter, quest 2 gives me a headache if I go much longer than 2 hours oddly sitting down is even worse than standing
It's not lighter. It's 40% thinner. The wieght is the same, but this model is redesigned to be more comfortable
