I've never been in a coma, but when I've been in the hospital not responding after a bad seizure and someone is talking to me I do sometimes hear them. It's like a distant voice in a dream, and it's soothing sometimes. I'd suggest doing it no matter what, you never know if someone can truly hear you
As usual... ANOTHER great show, Doc'! The "feather-pen" (giant plume) joke is actually based on a very OLD sight-gag... Feathers have a stem that's relatively stiff, like hard plastic, and they used to carve them down to a somewhat narrow, flat tip, to use as a dip pen... That particular material catches the "bite" of paper and parchment, and causes vibrations to run up the feather... Most of the feathery fibers of feathers are stiff, and transfer the vibrations to air, similar to a diaphragm in a speaker... SO the wife complains about the husband's incessant writing in bed, and the sight gag shows an enormous feather (think ostrich or peacock) with someone just off stage using a saw or sandpaper next to a megaphone or mic' or something to project to the crowd... They really DO make some obnoxious noise for no more than a pen, and in a fairly quiet room, it can sound a bit like someone erratically rough-housing with sandpaper. haha In this "update" the punchline is Peter narrating whatever he's writing... Honestly... I don't know why they'd try recycling that joke. Not many people even know about the noise of feather pens... I rather enjoy dip pens (including feather pens/plumes) for Calligraphy and drawing... They give a remarkable amount of control to line thickness and weights if you don't mind some investment in colored inks... Long as we're here, Richard Hammond of "Top Gear" fame had a BAD crash that put him into a coma, and recently he talked about his experience in a dream during that coma... It's on YT, and I'd highly recommend anyone interested in "near death experiences" or "coma dreams" and the questions of loved ones talking to comatose patients to WATCH THAT... I don't know how much (if any) trouble you might get into trying to react to it, maybe with a few careful cuts to get through it in stages... just the jist of his walking... the build up... the turning point... and waking up to his wife yelling at him... BUT it might be worth a try. I know I'd like to hear what you had to say about it... getting a vid' or some clips to go at it from a patient's point of view... It's just a thought... ;o)
There's an episode where Meg gets Type 2 Diabetes from her binging stunts on live stream. There's also one where Quagmire tells a vulgar joke that ends with "PS, your vagina's in the sink." That part makes Peter laugh so hard, he poops his pants. And it keeps happening every time he hears the joke.
My favorite doctor was one I met when I was in the E.R. i was in cause I could not stop wretching and I had nothing in my stomach to throw up so it was just bile and some blood. They gave me some IV stuff and they put some kind of medicine into some apple juice and in my haze I told the doctor "No way there Dr Jones, Im not drinkin your koolaid." And my mom and the doctor are both trying not to laugh. He told me it was gonna have kind of a metalic aftertaste as well. I says to him as he leaves "Thanks Doc, I hope I made your shift just a bit better." When your a patient you want to have a doctor whos not too serious. You want them to be able to keep things light, especially in such a high stress job/situation
my dad (77) had an accident a couple of days ago when he ended up slicing his hand open with this saw thing (not sure what you should call them in English, it's not my mother language) my mother was in the living room when she heard my father shout "towel! get me a towel!" she went to him, wondering what was going on and he was there with blood dripping everywhere. he had a huge, open wound on his right hand. she drove him to the hospital where he fainted while the doctor was sewing the wound. it was apparently because my father is on bloodthinners and partly because of the shock. the doctor said that he was lucky that the saw didn't cut his wrist or something. this is not the first time that my father had an accident like that, when he was 11 years old while carving wood, he sliced the knife to his wrist and almost died from blood loss. he even had the experience where you see light and start go towards it. fortunately his mother found him and got him to the hospital in time.
Thanks for finally reacting to the glue-sniffing thing. Been sending you the vid for months, requesting you react to it so thanks for finally responding to my request, Dr. Wagner
Dr Wagner, your laugh is quite infectious. I love learning about the real life consequences of the injuries on Family Guy (and the other animated series you react to). Keep up the awesome work Doc. 👍
The drowning versus near-drowning bit reminded me of another unrelated, non-medical video I once saw. In which somebody was remarking about how electrocution is an often misused word for when people are shocked by electricity, because technically if you were electrocuted, it means you're dead. But people will usually say they were electrocuted in relation to any electricity-related incident.

Stewie was unconscious for more than a few days with that head laceration. Would he have died in that amount of time with no treatment? I'm assuming yes. -Younger Bro
I'm surprised you haven't talked about the episode where Meg works at a funeral home. There's a scene near the end where Chris donates his face to a woman who lost hers to a chimp attack. It's pretty funny.
I also know the issues caused being skinned like that. What actually kills the victim when the skin is removed in that fashion is hypothermia because one of the functions of skin is to regulate the body's temperature.
seeing stewies brain made me nostalgic for my open brain surgery to remove a tumour i had 3 years ago, i played chess with a nurse the entire time and they were very helpful when i asked for a photo using my professional camera, i have that high resolution image of my exposed brain framed in my office

One time my son slipped on a rug that was on a marble floor at a relative's house and hit his head really hard. My mom snatched him up and everyone was surrounding him and talking about if he was breathing, bleeding, etc. Meanwhile I can't see and am freaking out wondering why no one is saying anything about going to ER. I guess he just had the wind knocked out of him and maybe mind concussion but it was one of the scariest things! Over 20 years later and he is fine but I still sometimes have nightmares about him getting hurt while being watched by a family member.
I like your trauma videos from the different cartoons. Keep up the good work Doctor 👨⚕️👍😁 You know that a new game of Mortal Kombat will be released soon? Will you make a video about injuries from this game?
2:44 I fell down a flight of stairs once. I don't know how or why, but I think my foot went down a second step without me noticing, and as a result, I slipped and fell down the stairs. Luckily, nothing was broken. I fell and almost immediately got back up. I was sore for a few days, but nothing major was hurting. Although, it might've been because I did a bit of a tuck and roll when I fell, I don't really remember as it happened so fast. But I do remember that I was roughly halfway down the stair when I tripped, and I had a big backpack on my back which helped cushioned the fall. Funnier still, was the floor I landed on was made of a marble-like material. But like I said, I wasn't hurt, just sore.
In the episode, "Lois Comes Out of Her Shell," Stewie adopts a turtle named Sheldon, but the turtle pulls pranks around the house, like replacing Brian's whiskey with flat Diet Coke, and replacing Meg's sleeping pills with Alka Seltzer. Meg swallows a bunch of them whole with water and says, "People are gonna miss me when I'm-- BUUUUUUUUURRRRRPP!!!!!!!"
So, I actually have an interesting triaging question that you may be able to answer in a future response video. I realize that triage is probably more in the realm of nursing, but how would you go about determining if a patient needs to go to the trauma center? Would it be the case that you attempt to stabilize the patient first in the ER then rush them to the trauma center, or would they immediately be sent to the trauma center? I realize that there would also be a lot of variables at play, I just thought that it would be interesting to learn about.
I've huffed glue before, and I hated every second of it. I felt like my head was about to explode. Fortunately it wasn't anything severe and I was fine the next day.
