It'd be cool to see you do a fanfic of the Star Wars sequels based on Lucas's outlines. You really know your stuff and understand the essence of Star Wars.
Return of the Jedi is my favourite Star Wars film and it has my favourite film-ending of all time. The dark Lord is defeated, Anakin is redeemed, all the friends of the Rebels join the party at the end…even Obi Wan and Yoda who are dead come back happily alongside Anakin! Everyone seems to want dark or brooding or bittersweet endings, but ROTJ completely did away with all that and just gave us one of the nicest endings I’ve ever seen! This is why I can’t consider the sequels canon. Force Awakens absolutely broke my heart with how cynically and cruelly it destroyed this ending, and the rest of the Sequels were just numb after that.
I have thought of something that really pisses me off about the sequels. In The Force Awakens, and the trailer, Kylo says something like 'I will finish what you started' to Darth Vaders mask. The line is just totally wrong. Anakin/Vader didn't start anything, it was more like he was a victim to the whole situation. Surely he went along with the plans of the Sith and must have believed in them, but ultimately he redeemed himself and realized that one thing is more important than power, and that is family.
The fact the sequel movies didn’t start with a shot of r2(the individual telling the stories) should tell everyone that the sequels are trash made by people who don’t know dick about Star Wars.
It's certainly great, the Original cinema ending that is, those Special Editions aren't canon to me personally, I just feel great comfort looking at my copies & knowing that this is the original film, everything I see here was possible to make back in the 80s, I'm seeing that exact same film, no Jedi rocks, no weird sarlacc beak, no Vader unnecessarily saying "No!" This is the original, Endor is free, but the war has only just begun, Luke's not yet a Jedi Master, he's just a Padawan, only later becoming a true Grand-master of the New Jedi Order, no Reylo, no Jar Jar Abrams, just purely how Star Wars ended before 1997
I can totally agree, it feels like there is need to be more, but if you think about that it's written that way, that it must end there. There are few show that are made the same, I can only think of Legend of Aang and Gravity Falls(wich is bit ironic, if you know what I mean), both of these, along with Star Wars was palanned well foraward, and all of these stories feel as a finished thing when you watch the final, but in the same time you feel there must be more, thats what I call art, and only a few shows can make it, and it makes theme countlessly rewatchable.
I think that in 1983, it was a great ending. But it became the perfect ending after the context of the prequels, the music changes, planets, and of course, Hayden playing Anakins’s ghost.
There was nothing wrong with George's dialogue. People really need to stop with the gaslighting and dogma, it's really annoying and frustrating. And yes this is a perfect ending to a perfect story 💯
I'm glad I watched all films in chronological order when I first got into Star Wars. I definitely would've loved the films if I watched them in release order first, but I know I made a better decision watching them in chronological order.
I mean I'll be honest I don't really care what others think of Hayden showing up as the Force Ghost of Anakin in Return of the Jedi, I think it is awesome to see him as Anakin again and I definitely preferred him showing up as Anakin as compared to the other actor they had in the role. To be fair too Anakin wasn't really really old by this point anyway so having Hayden reprise the role to appear as Anakin does make sense seeing as Anakin was what late 30s early 40s?
There’s a quote from the 80s talking about the sequels though and he talked about sequels since filming a new hope. In his 80s quote he said the last three would be the last stanza of the prose poem and would be about generations and learned experiences of life
It was Luke being an old man Jedi passing on his teaching to the next generation. A Ben Kenobi type. It would have been a organic extension of the originals, and what Luke learned from his conflict with Vader and the Emperor. What Disney did doesn't make any sense. Not just for Luke but for Han and Leia as well. None of them progressed as characters or grew post ROTJ some even regressed. Others became cowards and losers.
This move lost me at 7:29 when he compared this ending to Return if the King. ROTK did *NOT* have a long drawn out ending. If anybody actually paid attention to the film/novel they would understand this. The STORY doesn't end with the downfall of Sauron or Aragorn's crowning. Those are important elements of the story, but the entire LOTR was FRODO'S story not Aragorns. LOTR ends when Frodo's journey ends. That is when he boards the ship to Aman.
In my opinion, while ROTJ has it's issues, it's probably the second most perfect conclusion to a story I've see put to film. The first one being the Return of the King.
Lol I never noticed the storm trooper on Coruscant haha. I want to see more Coruscant post-Palpatine. I'm guessing there was lots of riots like what we see. I hate that they refuse to show the full end of the Galactic Civil War.
The only thing I would disagree with in this entire video is watching them 1-6. Flashback Order is definitely the way to go: 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6. Seeing Luke walk into Jabba’s palace and force choke the two Gamorrean guards right after seeing Anakin’s fall to the dark side really highlights how closely Luke is treading to the same fate!
start crying once vader turns back to the light and don't stop until the credits roll. the celebration music and hayden are both wonderful editions in my book.
I know there are those who don't like the fact that Lucas replaced Prowes with Hayden. But it makes sense from a supernatural point. Anakin's ghost is supposed to show how he has returned to the Light Side and that he is the good man he used to be whole. The last time Anakin was good and whole is when he was younger. Also how your spiritual form looks does depend on your mental picture of yourself. That's Anakin's.
Personally, based on the technology available at the time the "directors cuts" were made, I would have preferred seeing Sebastian Shaw (adult Anakin) merge into Hayden Christiansens version of Anakin in the final scene rather than deleting him completely - imagine seeing the older version transform into the version that was still dedicated to the old Jedi beliefs as his life essence transmogrified into the force.

There are only George Lucas's Star Wars, the rest of the Star Wars is an abomination. The ending of Return of the King is something truly magical, it puts a smile on everyone's face and paints a tear at the same time.
I don't see how you can compare the Pyre in ep. 6 to 1 - In ep. 6 it marks the end of the epic fight of this trilogy & the Perfect music sets it to a chilling level. Lucas could not repeat it. Ever. 1:22 - the celebratory moments are from the 1997 version, which is inferior & mostly unnecessary
It's meant to be a cyclical closing note to the saga. In Ep 1, Anakin watches his father figure and the ideal Jedi (Qui-Gon) burn on the pyre, but at the end of his journey now he becomes that father figure to Luke, and also fulfills his potential as the Chosen One. In the story of the whole saga, Anakin lacked a proper father figure but then, by choosing to save Luke, was able to become the father he never had, and so takes his former father's place on the pyre.
The ending of the movie is the thing I liked actually, it's so much working up to it that, to me personally, always has felt so disappointing in a way. After the incredible movies that came before, to have half the movie spent on Jabba, the most unnecessary, risky and convoluted plan ever, a dumb death of Boba, and unnecessarily killing a Rancor, ALL in favor of making Luke seem cool, when in reality if you really look at it, it did the exact opposite... Only to then have it followed up with the final EPIC conclusive battle with the Empire on the ground... Be decided by a bunch of teddy bears where Wookies would have been THE single most perfect thing ever and have made that battle 10 times better. I'm sorry, but it just still disappoints me that the only good parts of ROTJ are the space battle and the part on the Death Star. 80% of the movie is just disappointing as hell. But that's to me, that's just my opinion. And I don't hate the movie by any means, I just think it's the worst one, considering the absolute promise and potential it had and threw away almost completely.
Return of the Jedi is the perfect ending to the Star Wars Saga there was no point on making a sequel because the story is finished we have a happy ending when Disney trilogy happens it take away every achievement of characters of the saga make it pointless.
The ending, in my opinion, was at it's most perfect in the original special edition of Star Wars in 1997, it had the old Darth Vader, as he turned to the good side right before his passing, remember; Anakin was the one who killed Palpatine, and saved his son. And it does not include the, uh.. "Weesa free", that was included in the DVD special edition with the younger Ani, which I find both ridiculous.
4K/HD treatment Redone CGI No Naboo celebration Re-arranging of some footage? "Old" Anakin spirit reinstated As Luke and Leia rejoin the celebration, Qui-Gon joins the other Jedi spirits Perfect!
For anyone who unirronically enjoys the sequel trilogy, I'm just going to assume that you are probably someone who is very young (like gen alpha) and you first got into Star Wars with The Force Awakens. I respect your young adolescent viewpoints that the Disney sequel era is or was your childhood introduction to Star Wars and if you find any meaningful stuff in those movies that resonates strongly with you then more power to you. I can't take that away from you. But to everyone else, DISNEY JUST HAD TO F*** IT ALL UP!! I mean come on! If ROTJ was supposed to be a "fairytale ending" and if George didn't necessarily wanted to do a third trilogy, then why even commit to one in the first place? Many OG and even some Prequel fans can probably agree that kind of endpoint for the original trilogy heroes in the sequels is something that probably should've never been shown in a fairytale/fantasy ending. Even if that's what Lucas wanted, to have Luke become another Yoda-like figure and have Anakin's grandson turn out like him, people in general I don't think want to see that kind of future as an official continuation of the saga.
This question just hit me: how is it possible that all the plantets celebrate simultaneously with the heroes? Because how would all of those planets know what happened? Dont say live stream because it should take a longer while for the galaxy to find out😅
The 1983 ending was better. While it is a victory celebration it does not show the libration of the galaxy. It leaves something for the future. Sure a fatal blow has been delt to the empire, but there is plenty of fighting to go. Yub Nub s the perfect song that fits the Ewok environment. Again leaving the future with penty of adventures to go.
No shade against Hayden, but over time I find myself disagreeing more and more than Anakin's force ghost de-ages 25-ish years. If he de-ages, why not Obi Wan?
Hayden being there was nonsense, no hate but one actor playing Anakin in one scene and another in the end (who's too young to play him at this time anyway)? Then why not replace Sir Alec Guinness with Ewan McGregor as well? Oh, it would be disrespectful to the late Guinness? How about the guy who played Vader in the "help me take this mask off" scene? Wasn't his removal from the force ghost scene disrespectful to him and his memory?
RotJ is the perfect ending. There is no reason for a sequel trilogy, even from George. The core story is (for me) films I-VI plus TCW. Everything else, either from the Legends or Disney is just extra.
That moment where Luke cremates Vader's body is my favourite scene in the whole saga.

And I don't hate the movie by any means, I just think it's the worst one, considering the absolute promise and potential it had and threw away almost completely.
yo, is this the first time you’ve done a video with your voice
the movie feels too real. it takes you in. you experience the emotions of sadness and happiness. and that's how you make a film. not CGI.
I love the song
The end was amazing. I have really cried that 😭😭😭
Why do I keep seeing your polls?
The “sequels” are Jar Jar’s death stick induced hallucinations.
Hey conner can you review miss anthropony
They totally killed the best story ever created
“ *the emperor doesn’t get cloned-* ”
It’s confirmed. The Disney sequel trilogy isn’t canon, maybe it’s just a dream. George Lucas said it himself.
If George made 7 8 and 9 it would be cool to see them adapted into lego Star Wars the skywalker saga
There is a contender, v for vendetta
But watching 1-6 will give you a much higher emotional payoff
4K/HD treatment
Redone CGI
No Naboo celebration
Re-arranging of some footage?
"Old" Anakin spirit reinstated
As Luke and Leia rejoin the celebration, Qui-Gon joins the other Jedi spirits
Perfect!
8:57 Well, THE EMPEROR DOSENT COME BACK TO LIFE didn’t work out.😂
For anyone who unirronically enjoys the sequel trilogy, I'm just going to assume that you are probably someone who is very young (like gen alpha) and you first got into Star Wars with The Force Awakens.
Dont say live stream because it should take a longer while for the galaxy to find out😅
There is no Easter Bunny, there is no Tooth Fairy, and there is no Sequel Trilogy.

I miss the yub yub song at the end of the original RotJ before the special editions came out.
The original ending was perfect; the Disney-fied ending, not so much.
a perfect ending to the video 10 minutes flat couldn't be more perfect
You’re a W
The 1983 ending was better. While it is a victory celebration it does not show the libration of the galaxy. It leaves something for the future. Sure a fatal blow has been delt to the empire, but there is plenty of fighting to go. Yub Nub s the perfect song that fits the Ewok environment. Again leaving the future with penty of adventures to go.
Unknown to all, somehow Palpatine returned
I would have preferred Princess Leia Forgiving Anakin at the end of Return of the Jedi
No shade against Hayden, but over time I find myself disagreeing more and more than Anakin's force ghost de-ages 25-ish years. If he de-ages, why not Obi Wan?
Then somehow Palpatine returned
Hayden being there was nonsense, no hate but one actor playing Anakin in one scene and another in the end (who's too young to play him at this time anyway)? Then why not replace Sir Alec Guinness with Ewan McGregor as well? Oh, it would be disrespectful to the late Guinness? How about the guy who played Vader in the "help me take this mask off" scene? Wasn't his removal from the force ghost scene disrespectful to him and his memory?
I prefer the original theatrical ending, forest moon only.
Vader pov it's a little hot in here wait what aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!
And then Disney came along and made all of this pointless
RotJ is the perfect ending. There is no reason for a sequel trilogy, even from George. The core story is (for me) films I-VI plus TCW. Everything else, either from the Legends or Disney is just extra.
Darth Vader is not the main character no matter how much George wants to retcon that
It's a perfect ending because Disney didn't do it.
for me, RTOTJ made me want to see more Star Wars. TLJ makes me not want to watch any more SW.
I am glad that I stopped Star Wars for Volume 1-6
What if Vader was just sleeping
The.... Or this?
How do you know it's perfect? It still might get improved again.
Where the story ended for me.
