- The investigation revealed that a nefarious Chinese internet company had established up to 76,000 fake websites, targeting consumers in Europe and the United States. These websites masqueraded as reputable Western brands such as Dior, Nike, Lacoste, Hugo Boss, Versace, and Prada. They offer discounted products while actually defrauding users of their personal information.

@@glennjanot8128 there's a story in my country couple of years back. this lady scanned a qr code to install .apk for a cleaning services app. she booked a cleaning lady through the app, and when transferring the money it returned an error multiple times. then she tried with her husband's bank account and it failed again. that's when she realized something was up and checked the bank. turns out both accounts has been cleaned of money, her and her husband's. the entire operation was a scam.

Not really my parents had their identities stolen from them by one of those skimmers they can steal data. Before the new cards came with protections for them. But anyone who opens links or scans random qr cards can be scammed as well this can happen to the best of us.

Crazy I encountered those scam e-shops. My father constantly spammed me on messenger with links to those shops saying "Buy me those shues from this site" I was saying this shops is most likely a scam and to stop browsing these.

@@antdog8888 Yes and if you're doing it on your phone you have given out all the names, numbers, emails and any other personal info you have stored there for your friends and loved ones and it makes me glad to not know you or be your friend. When you download their app you give them permission to access everything including your contact information lists and access to all kinds of other accounts on your phone. You have also agreed to have malware downloaded on your phone or device whether you realize it or not because I'm sure you didn't read the fine print. Nothing comes that cheap without there being a serious catch, including the dangerous materials many things are made out of from them melting down and reusing poisonous or dangerous materials.

it's funny that people still believe that law enforcement will call them for a crime, if you are indeed broken a law and there is a case opened, police will show up in your front door or in your work place...
unless you reported the case yourself, law enforcer wont give you a call to talk about an on going case, particularly if you are a suspect...

How does a college student have access to 1 million yuan? Soooooo, guess higher education isn't that great there either.....Stupid and greedy are worldwide, not just confined to one group or country. Honestly, I just can't feel bad for any of them.....This is like when my mother bought boxes of beanie babies talking about the money she'd make selling them. SMH
She was a model, so the money would probably have been part of a company card, they might have also gained access to family accounts or work accounts via her phone. If they drugged her to remove her pin/unlock, she may have no memory of consent or transfers either.
I think the China censorship might have bitten her quite badly, as Dubai/UAE is a known sex slavery/trafficking location for decades. Dubai is the modern equivalent of Epstein Island. UAE is also unlikely to arrest or extradite criminals, even if it blows up internationally, and a lot of JP Morgan / Epstein associates live in UAE countries, including a lot of US/EU politicians
There's also a lot of models paid to travel, where they're used as prostitutes. Lots and lots of IG models get free tickets to Dubai to 'promote' hotels and cars, sic. If they complain or don't comply with health checks or refuse their host, they get sent back.
She's lucky she arrived back at all. A lot of agencies also act as fronts, as they use the modelling agency as a scouting service for prostitutes. They are also bribed or coerced, and various modelling companies are also drug runners, pimps, slave operators, etc. because of the local UAE laws that protect locals, and allow trafficking / non-extradition.
Quite a lot of models are invited over to Dubai, and anything goes. torture videos, organ harvesting, "oil shieks" that steal passports and entrap/enslave women under false/forced marriage, selling women to russia/china into sex slavery are the other common outcomes.
Keep the free gifts if they send them and throw that QR code in the trash. Actually better yet, post it in a scam baiting forum and let them all have fun spamming the scammers
