I’ve never seen Eddie Johnson in a car numbered anything but 57 until this. I never had the pleasure of attending a race at Southside, thinking it would be there forever and I had all the time in the world to do it. Sadly, it’s now joined the ever growing number of short tracks that have run their final race. This place has an incredible history going back many decades!

The reason it wasn't #57 was because it wasn't his car. If I'm not mistaken the car was owned by Hughes Family Racing, a husband and wife duo.
