I actually got chills with Hubert’s lol idk why but it felt so genuine, like it was an actual apology letter from a real person. Really good voice acting.
I love how some have romantic undertones, some are questionable and some just make you go "Yup, this is definitely written by them". Maybe the reason cyril isn't playable yet is cause lysithea didn't teach him to write properly yet
I'm a little sad that Alois wasn't playable because I really love the dude . He may have dad energy , but he's definitely big brother material especially when him and leonie and byleth talk about Jeralt being their father in a way
Hubert's is absolutely lovely tbh. I like the characterization he was given in this game, it makes him much more relatable & likable than before with the added context to why he does what he does & an interior look on his softer side he tries to pretend he doesn't have.
2:32 Hubert could become a storyteller with how smooth his voice is, I'm glad he got a lot of attention in characterization 5:28 Petra is Black Eagles best waifu, maybe it's because of her broken english that I find so appealing or the fact she's trying her best in the worst case scenario for her country. Plus she's literally an amazonian princess basically. 7:47 Mercedes is Blue Lions best waifu, her sweetness could make anyone go obese. Love her hair too. 11:48 Marianne is best Golden Deer waifu, ever since she proposed in Three Houses she's had my admiration for her courage.

The closest thing to S-Supports in this game. And it kinda makes sense, actually. In Three Houses, S-Supports only happen when the war actually ends.... and since the war is still ongoing at the end of this game, there's no chance of going beyond A-Support with anyone.
Well in Awakening and Fates you could S support at any point really; but the reason here is that a famitsu interview with the developers said they didn't want to offer romantic supports because people were protective of their Three Houses Byleth S supports; which I can understand, because in Japan, self-insert characters are HUGE. As a result, they decided not to go romantic with Shez, though of course some of the letters can read flirty or romantic depending on the character in question, such as Dorothea as an example. I am sure development time had something to do with it as well, since they'd have to write S supports for the appropriate gender and the like; but ultimately it's a nice little touch that shows you had an impact on these peoples lives, even if not necessarily a romantic one.
Man that just sounds so freakin stupid. I didn't think they'd get rid of S supports because of Byleth shippers. Like why? You're still playing as a self insert and Byleth is their own character now so who cares? Damn that pisses me off so much.
@@tomo8940 it’s possibly a cultural thing. Byleth is huge in Japan. Any attempt to replace them might have resulted in people not buying the game there.

I wouldn't call them S supports or endings, but its a little nod to the fact that maybe your character of choice regards your Shez as special to them, whether that be romantic or platonic.
I loved the endings for this because it stays true to the character of being a Merc . In that way Shez is a truly unique character because they can serve anyone and still be someone .

Ingrids is nice. It’s nice how it recognises and focuses on your importance as a friend to both her and to the group as a whole. Hers and Rodrigues are similar in tone in that respect in how they mention the others a lot.

I love them all they truly reflect and let us know what is inside their hearts To see what lies beneath them through these letters is a joy and glad that Three Hopes came to reality and their voice actors really nailed and brought out their vulnerability amazingly
What I like about this is the fact its basically along the lines of love letters or just earnest admiration/thanks for the MCs actions. It gives you that warm tingles.
@FazFaz it actually depends whether she's underground or up in the surface. If there's a map where it's cave-like, then she's happy, if the map is an open area, then she's sad

At the end of the A support between shez and ashe was a huge cliffhanger which i hoped would have been concluded with his letter here but no mention of it :(
Ingrid and Dimitri is a very underrated pairing in terms of friendship or romance. It was great, though sad, to see him react so powerfully. But yeah, Shez's down to earth nature really helped the Lions sometimes given their propensity for grand gestures of defiance.
Damn I didn't expect Catherine's letter to make me teary eyed. How she says she'll gladly support you with whatever path you take as long as you wear it proudly. The feels man. Also the one with letting go of something you love hits way too hard. It's painful to let go of things you love dearly, especially when it's about loved ones.. it hurts not saying goodbye but it also hurts burdening ourselves with grief and regret. Life's too short to wallow in grief all the time, instead we gotta lift our head held up high and continue with life. Remembering them for who they were and how they were loved, I think it’s a good way of honouring someone. I think they would want to be remembered as not as something of a sad memory but rather someone who loved you with all their heart. P.S i didn't mean to make it so long but it just hits me too much on a personal level .
Honestly I got the Catherine letter by accident, I just wanted her skill cause she was pretty darn strong in my run, but being honest I find myself warming up to her a bit (the reha simping can get annoying however)
Yeah it really fits with her character as well, since we know she is ready to take down anyone who stands against her, no matter what, even her best friend Christophe. I feel like she was reminiscing about him when writing it
I think that's the longest Lorenz has ever gone in conversation without saying (or writing) his own name. It's unfortunate I couldn't get that letter in my playthrough; he had a terrible accident in a Record Keeper mission replay the minute he joined my team. Bad luck, that. Unavoidable.
Randolph's final letter: "My friend, we came a long way through this bloody war. We fought many opponents and came out on top for Edelgard. As a Bergliez, anything can happen in a man's life. If anything bad should happen to me, look after Fleche and Caspar. I only look forward to a friendly contest for you and I. With love, Randolph."
Dorothea's letter is so sad. This war really broke her. Was it worth it? Sylvain is as much a bro as he ever was. Never change, you! Well, except the skirt chasing... I wonder if happy Constance actually wrote down the "Hahahaha!" Sad Constance's letter is bittersweet. She still has intense self-loathing, but she's happy you accept her.
Balthus: "I hope you don't mind my working it off the old-fashioned way...as a gigolo. Yep! Use me as you see fit! Tell me who to wreck and I'll wreck 'em!" Phrasing, Baltie!
In Hubert's letter, "rest" would actually be written "wrest". Although the thought of the recipient of his letter giving him the Jigglypuff Down-B experience so thoroughly he confessed his inner feelings is somehow just as fittingly amusing.

In SB I gave mine to Hubert because I found him so much more interesting than I did in three houses, and the letter is a great final touch! More romantic than any S Support haha
Do you think the dlc is going to be the Three Houses timeskip, but I this universe? I know this timeline is 2 years after the academy, but I wonder if Shez will return in like 3 more years. I thought it was weird that we didn’t get the Three Houses costumes as a new game +, or unlockable, but maybe they’re saving those costumes for a future story?
I like to imagine a scenario for f shez and flayn where shez is helping flayn sneak out without seteth noticing and when he does notice, flayn and shez just continue to sneak out slowly while locking eyes with seteth before just booking it.
Or recasted. Remember only the English VA died, not the Japanese VA which is what probably going to matter for something like not having lines for Ferdinand von Aegir in future content

@@FazFaz Eventually it might be translation error... I already caught a few along with unexplainable changes when playing with Japanese voices. Like description of one shield makes it sound like it will make your attacks less effective against fliers(While I assume it's meant to say it will make their attacks less effective on you...) or adding a "joke" where there was none during one conversation between Shez, Hubert, and Edelgard... possibly the JP letter was just something like "After the war is won" without specifying the side, but localizer decided to be creative... without thinking about it beforehand.

Though I can't guarantee I will notice changes, since my knowledge of Japanese is very limited, I just can notice most glaring things like the aforementioned dialogue in JP being: Shez:"You mean... Those Who Slither in The Dark, right?" ( I can clearly hear Shez saying: "Yami ni Ugomeki Mono" being full name of them in Japanese) Hubert:"Correct."(Clearly saying: "Sonotori desu", which means just that) In ENG it's randomly turned into: Shez:"You mean uh... the slithery people, right?" Hubert:"Absurdally phrased, but correct." It's an out-of-nowhere change, and is kinda stupid considering in every other situation before Shez has no problem remembering the full name of them. Either way though I'm sure me, and a lot of other people who prefer to play with JP voices will be very happy to have a video of them reading the letters! :D
I think it's meant to be for the player; you know, like a meta-y way of having the characters congratulate you for beating the game or something like that.

@@FazFaz i gave mines to byleth and during GW’s final boss i got a glitch where i used divine pulse as soon as phase 2 started and cause of that he’d endlessly repeat the animation subsequently killing him… oddly enough he retreated instead of dying tho. and thats how i got my shez letter 🤦🏾♂️
@@chickenstrips5138 I once encountered a glitch where I would use Divine Pulse as Byleth, somehow they would endlessly repeat the animation, forcing me to restart the battle. It could just be related to Divine Pulse itself
I happened to pick Dorothea almost on a whim, and since hers was pretty unambiguously an S-support letter I thought the others were too. Boy was I wrong. Bit of a weird choice tbh, though ending routes with a “to be continued (except probably not because there’s no sequel or DLC)” was a weird choice as well.
I think it does work better to have some sound flirty/romantic if it fits the character (Dorothea as you mentioned) but it wouldn't really work for everyone since arguably Shez doesn't get as close to them as Byleth did.

My favorite is Ferdinand, Jeralt and Byleth, especially Byleth since she/he experienced a new life because she got friends they care for.
I've always wanted to hear Marianne's, and it did not disappoint. I absolutely love hers and Mercedes' letters. They're both so kind.

Although the thought of the recipient of his letter giving him the Jigglypuff Down-B experience so thoroughly he confessed his inner feelings is somehow just as fittingly amusing.

Do you think the dlc is going to be the Three Houses timeskip, but I this universe? I know this timeline is 2 years after the academy, but I wonder if Shez will return in like 3 more years. I thought it was weird that we didn’t get the Three Houses costumes as a new game +, or unlockable, but maybe they’re saving those costumes for a future story?

Hubert, Dorothea, Felix, Mercedes, Annette, Marianne, Holst, Yuri and Constance's were the best ones. Constance even does 2 laughs and shifts personality lol.

@@FazFaz Eventually it might be translation error... I already caught a few along with unexplainable changes when playing with Japanese voices. Like description of one shield makes it sound like it will make your attacks less effective against fliers(While I assume it's meant to say it will make their attacks less effective on you...) or adding a "joke" where there was none during one conversation between Shez, Hubert, and Edelgard... possibly the JP letter was just something like "After the war is won" without specifying the side, but localizer decided to be creative... without thinking about it beforehand.

@@FazFaz It would be really cool! Though I can't guarantee I will notice changes, since my knowledge of Japanese is very limited, I just can notice most glaring things like the aforementioned dialogue in JP being:
Shez:"You mean... Those Who Slither in The Dark, right?" ( I can clearly hear Shez saying: "Yami ni Ugomeki Mono" being full name of them in Japanese)
Hubert:"Correct."(Clearly saying: "Sonotori desu", which means just that)
In ENG it's randomly turned into:
Shez:"You mean uh... the slithery people, right?"
Hubert:"Absurdally phrased, but correct."
It's an out-of-nowhere change, and is kinda stupid considering in every other situation before Shez has no problem remembering the full name of them.
Either way though I'm sure me, and a lot of other people who prefer to play with JP voices will be very happy to have a video of them reading the letters! :D

Shez is also the least common since it requires keeping that op whistle all the way for no good reason.
I think it's meant to be for the player; you know, like a meta-y way of having the characters congratulate you for beating the game or something like that.
@@skyscavenger7732 that makes sense, as the devs said they didn’t really want shez being anyone who could replace byleth in the students eyes, but a meta letter to the player is a cool idea.

@@FazFaz i gave mines to byleth and during GW’s final boss i got a glitch where i used divine pulse as soon as phase 2 started and cause of that he’d endlessly repeat the animation subsequently killing him… oddly enough he retreated instead of dying tho. and thats how i got my shez letter 🤦🏾♂️
@@chickenstrips5138 I once encountered a glitch where I would use Divine Pulse as Byleth, somehow they would endlessly repeat the animation, forcing me to restart the battle. It could just be related to Divine Pulse itself
Okay but for being the scariest and most ruthless vampire-looking character in the game Hubert's was surprisingly wholesome

I happened to pick Dorothea almost on a whim, and since hers was pretty unambiguously an S-support letter I thought the others were too. Boy was I wrong. Bit of a weird choice tbh, though ending routes with a “to be continued (except probably not because there’s no sequel or DLC)” was a weird choice as well.
I think it does work better to have some sound flirty/romantic if it fits the character (Dorothea as you mentioned) but it wouldn't really work for everyone since arguably Shez doesn't get as close to them as Byleth did.
@@AtheAetheling that is a very good point. Though I am still left disappointed the devs refused to completely follow through on their own timeline and just stuck with keeping it all open ended and vague.
I picked Shamir for my Golden Deer and Dorothea for my Scarlet Blaze. Imagine my surprise when I found out they had the same VA 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
