After my Maen (17th century Dutch for moon, I am Dutch myself) Manhattan 39 Ultra Thin, this absolutely is gonna be my second Maen watch. Although Maen is a Swedish brand, it is founded by two Dutch guys.
You know, I hadn't really appreciated how great that watch was when I looked at it before. That's a real banger and I might need to sell a couple watches & get one. I've been working on slimming the collection down. "Leaner & meaner"
Good call. I'd consider it especially with the bracelet but the lugs are just not coherent with the design. I in fact bought the watchfinder collab with the Maen so I do like their watches but can't stand the lugs.
Maen just mated a Polerouter (or more precisely, The Smiths Trans-Global PRS-54, from whom they copied the color options) with a Raymond Weil Millesime Moonphase.
Wow! The watch is gorgeous! The brutalist square angles are very mechanical look. The dial detailing is superb. The look from all angles reminds me of viewing the F-117 Stealth fighter. If I could afford one, I'd choose it over many 36mm offerings for a small diameter watch. Love the bracelet too.
If you want a lovely classy 36mm for €1100 you can get some lovely older Omegas and such on auction websites. I wouldn’t buy a microbrand at this price
Some viewers may not be. I agree , I wouldn't spend that much on a micro brand either. Only my opinion but don't like the look of this watch at all. Has a feminine / ladies vibe to it.
It's a lot more complicated to get a vintage watch. There are tons of poorly maintained older watches with mix and matched parts, non-original or even replica parts, damaged dials and hands, over polished cases, worn-off plating, low quality bracelets, etc.
Maen just mated a Polerouter (or more precisely, The Smiths Trans-Global PRS-54, from whom they copied the color options) with a Raymond Weil Millesime Moonphase.
Personally, I really like this. My GS quartz 37mm has fairly long lugs and it would be a bit too small with shorter lugs.I don't have anything that looks like this either.
The lugs - uff. On your small wrists they stick out and the bracelet is free-floating. That aside, a moonphase is one of the most useless complications especially on a tiny 36mm dial. Along the same lines, sector dials were a thing and make this tiny dial even busier. Remove the moonphase and sectors, make the lugs fit the watch and small wrists, maybe add a date and it might actually be a nice watch.
Beautiful dial. I don't mind the lugs that everyone's complaining about but I don't like that crystal raised up so high adding to the overall thickness. I also don't like Maen's habit of charging a large percentage of the base price to have a display case back. I love my Maen 37. The display back and decorated movement weren't available when I ordered mine but, if they were, I probably wouldn't have ordered them because they added 400 euros to a watch costing 700-800 or so.
Why would they put those lugs with a dial diameter like that? If you're making it classic-sized, make the lugs that way too. This feels awkward now, a small watch that feels large for no practical reason at all.
Usually I like Maen's designs but those lugs kill it for me. Also, I wonder if Maen's quality control has improved. I bought one of their watches a few years back and it was pretty bad. The power reserve was maybe 8 hours, for instance.
It doesn't make the best impression when the review of a watch is also a sponsored video from the same manufacturer. In such a case, would you really talk badly about the watch if you didn't like it? I mean, I'm happy about the review. I like the watch. And I'm happy that you've got such a great sponsor. But I still find it a bit difficult.
She points out that its made out of 316l steel, which is pretty standard and then says 316l is also used by Tudor. Well that might be correct, but she really tries to push the watch by doing remarks like that...😅
I’m unsure about the design. It could grow on me or be better appreciated in person. I get that Maen could have more success with a unique design rather than being overly similar to existing options. I’ve been considering a moon phase, but given it would be more of an occasional wear (a few days a month near full and new lunar phases) a quartz would actually make sense.
A far cry from the days of the Hudson, a “Swiss Watch” so bad it put me off the brand for life, 10 second lume, a crown that wouldn’t screw back in, time keeping well outside the advertised +- 30 seconds a day. I hope the quality of the recent models has improved in line with the price. Looks like the components are still made in China.
People mention the lugs in the comments because you already talked about them in the video. Else they wouldn’t have noticed. Of course, being a man I might not know anything but I think it looks pretty cool.
watch business was killed in the early 2000s by a mobile phone business, nowdays most people i know up to 30 years old either wear a smartwatch or dont wear any type of watch at all
My Gosh, pointing out that the watch is made out of 316l steel and then referencing Tudor is just so pointless. Almost every brand uses at least 316l steel, its nothing special, but you really seem to try to push this watch by referencing Tudor😂
I don't like the lugs too much as they resemble the king seiko's ones. There is a great moon phase watch made by christopher ward but unfortunately it's 39mm...
This is a personal taste matter but I don't like the lud design. Of course, if I try it on my opinion may change but for now, maybe it would've looked better with curved lugs. The Globemaster and Muhle Glashutte watches sometimes have this problem too.
I would like a moon phase watch and this is really appealing actually. Aaaaaaaand it's 36mm... Oh well! Plenty of watches out there anyway, but I like what I've seen from Maen. One to keep an eye on for sure. Thanks Jenni!
@@DirtFather407 I'm happy for you to have 36mm or even smaller watches, that's great! They're just not for me (no matter how you may insist that they are). Maybe don't get started telling other people what they should wear? That's not great IMO.

The dial designs are beautiful, but the lugs aren't. I feel this was meant to be a larger watch, and this was the result of shrinking it.
Good call. I'd consider it especially with the bracelet but the lugs are just not coherent with the design. I in fact bought the watchfinder collab with the Maen so I do like their watches but can't stand the lugs.
I just cant get friendly with the lugs on this one. The dial and case proportions are just too elegant for those beasty things.
Hugo, is that you??
Maen just mated a Polerouter (or more precisely, The Smiths Trans-Global PRS-54, from whom they copied the color options) with a Raymond Weil Millesime Moonphase.
This is pretty spot on. All they are missing is an adventurine dial.
Thank you for calling out the dome crystal, I agree it should be flatter given the diameter
Very stylish and interesting with design from Sweden it's ultra cool and the moon phase is fabulous.
It' an exact copy of a 50 year old King Seiko. The only change is the day-night ('moonphase').
Those lugs are unfortunately very off, dial is nice though.
Nice review and clean shots!
Top notch at an affordable price. I may get this as a self xmas present this year 😂
@@jin8684 Unfortunately that is impossible for the first shipment of this watch will be starting from may 2025. That’s how it goes with micro-brands.
$1000 ain’t affordable lmao might as well save up another $1000 and get an older rolex

I have a King Seiko with similar looks and they’re great
The King Seiko is way better though :).
Case looks similar to the smaller king seiko that has been released recently
It looks really good. A bit different. Thanks for the review as I wasn't aware of this brand before this.
Wonderful review!!

Watch design is cool❤
Very good review 🙂
Beautiful watch!
Thanks Jenny, for showing this. Just another timepiece I don’t have to buy!

There appears to be a poorly finished bottom right hand case shoulder, looks dented. Very odd case proportion to bracelet.
yep. Proud of my watch brethren. Impeccable taste and good eye sir.
@@steelsteez6118 thank you sir.
Wonderful watch
That's a really good looking watch. Looks high quality too. I'm much more impressed than i expected to be
Is it possible that you make a review of the TW STEEL watches?
Awesome ❤
Beautiful watch
I own a Hudson and a Greenwich GMT. Nice watches
nice watch, another nice moonphase is from MU:N
Definitely a cut above the Tissot PRX. The movement alone is in a different category.
Ironically, I would have liked this in smooth-sweep quartz. Would be nice to pick up the watch and know the moon phase is correct after a week or two.
Beautiful ❤
nice review
Yeah it’s anything but elegant. It genuinely looks off proportions wise.
yep. Proud of my watch brethren. Impeccable taste and good eye sir.
Nice dial lugs don’t really work with the dial and only suited for a small wrist should of had 40mm option at least!

Beautiful watch but, apparently, your idea of an "entry-level" watch is way different than mine.

Such a beautiful watch but way too small for my 8 inch wrist. 42 or even 41 and i'd be buying.
