Unintentional ASMR - Face painting for Dia de Muertos in Mexico City

- My friend had her face painted on the street before we attended the Dia de Muertos parade in Mexico City.
I suddenly found myself surrounded by so many tingle inducing artists so I decided I had to film my friend having her make-up done.
This was not very well planned and shot with a long and heavy lens with no tripod, so please excuse the very shaky footage. I also had to make a number of cuts when other people moved in front of my filming position (the street was very busy!).

Your friend must have found that incredibly relaxing. Thank you for filming and uploading this, it’s very therapeutic and relaxing to watch (and interesting too from a cultural viewpoint). I’m sure your arms were sore by the end of filming it! Great video! 👍
Thanks Yvonne, yes we both really enjoyed the experience. The artist was very talented, I wish I had her details to give her a shout-out. It was a heavy lens, so yes I did get a little tired, next time I should bring a tripod!
True ASMR I’m back again to say this is literally my favourite asmr facepainting video. I don’t know why you don’t have more views or subscribers as it’s the best there is (in my opinion). I think most of your views is me. 😂

I am pleased so many have already seen the video, but maybe it wasn't as popular as I hoped so I haven't gone out to film anything else, but it does always cross my mind and I am sure I will film something else on the street again.
I live in a tourist town, so on the street I regularly see portrait painters, spraypaint artists, shoe shiners and jewelry/watch repair... All of these give me ASMR as the right time and I should probably pluck up the confidence to ask if they would be happy for me to film them.

There are a few times she’s shaking like hell but the lines come out perfect… HOW!!! Like not in a mean way but as someone who used to paint and shakes……. 😭😭😭 I couldnt do that

How does this usually work? Do you tell them specifically what colors you'd like and then they just kind of surprise you with a design? This looks like so much fun I'd love to go some day!
Most of the artists will have a catalogue of face designs for you to choose from and then you can add extras like sequins etc.
All of the designs on paper looked great, but we walked around until we found an artist who was actively painting a face that looked really good.

I like this video, but it's like the camera man said, "Hold on, let me move to make sure we *never* directly see the brush on the skin."
It gets better the longer the video goes. Like I said, I actually _like_ this.
Yeah, the camera work takes a lot to be desired. I didn't plan this so I was hand-holding a Canon 70-200 f2.8 L lens and a Canon 5Dmkiii in a really crowded environment. If I did it again I would definitely try to pick up some better shots.

@@true-asmr I can tell you were doing as good as possible. I really did mean that it *seems* like that. I didn't mean to be a butt hole about it either. :( One of my favorite things is face painting, so I was happy to see this video.

No, not at all. There are lots of artists all along the parade route. Normally around 100-200 pesos depending of the level of detail. Take a moment to look around and choose someone who seems impressive. Get there early to avoid having to wait too long.
If you come this upcoming novemeber or the next one i recommend you to go to the Downtown of Coyoacán area, is really pretty there and you will find painters for around 6-8 bucks. Also typical desserts like churros with choco, hot choco and a lot of nice roof bars to enjoy the view. My girlfriend is American and she loves when we go there. Right now its closed but in theory by november it should be opened already.

I'm impressed how good it turned out and how affordable.
I would have charged $15. (USD). that is a lot of time and makeup.

Instead of painting for the sole reason of profit, these ladies paint for culture. They want to take their time and make it look as good as it can
Too Slow??? That is a lot of work... but she needs to charge more for our time and all that makeup... That makeup is expensive, if you use the good makeup.
