Just found your channel and liked it. Good video on the H5. I agree on your outlook concerning paying so much more for a larger engine that in the woods you will never need. It looks like you live in West Virginia, which I think is a beautiful state.
Followed, I’m curious to see your comments after some longer use! I have the same HD5, use it primarily for snow clearing in Winter and some light trail riding in Summer at my cottage. I like the larger tires, my biggest complaint is the current 11” ground clearance which puts me uncomfortably close to a few rocks on the trails I take.
Best “all around” tire is non directional… directional tires rip stuff up too bad.. they work better forward than reverse… can get into trouble like that…
Nice video. I have a 2020 Defender hd8 with 27x11x14 in back and 27x9x14 front, question is, do i need spacers in order to get 30s? also, are your tires tubeless? Thanks
@@lifewiththehamptons2191 I ended up with Tusk Terrabite tires, they look great, I could have gone one size larger. My canam runs smoothe and so much nicer than those junky Maxxis.
Your trails will end up like mine. Two big ass ruts from the tires spinning going up the hills. I have the same set on my hd8. Best to put it in 4x4 low and creep up the hills. Good thing we have a dozer to repair the trails. Really tears up shit when I have a bed full of cracked corn for feeders.
@Life with The Hampton’s I wouldn't lie to you. If you can find a set of the big horn 2.0 from an hd8, you should buy them. They worked well. I just wanted a little more clearance for going over water bars, and I don't want a lift kit. I have enough problems getting to corn feeders now. I would be flipped over with a lift kit.
Wheels and tyres look noice, but right after you showed us the proof of these new shoes...you decided to flip us off? (I know you meant two wheel drive) Here in the EU (Ireland) if you do the two or peace sign, with your folded fingers facing yourself...that means f-off. Good to know if you come over the pond.
Oh Wow. I didn't mean any disrespect. Sometimes its shocking how a peaceful gesture in one Country can be offensive in another! Thanks for letting me know!!
Nope I gave you 4 minutes and the time to type a comment. That's 4 minutes I will never get back. Why would anyone buy a flat land machine for hills. SEE YA

Western NC. Born and raised here!
The terrain is extreme, to say the least. Thanks for subscribing!
I've been to western North Carolina it is beautiful there.

A good set of tires makes the vehicle!
Are you still liking the tires
Looks like your going to need all of that ground clearance after climbing that hill a few times

No spacer needed

Any chance you could make a video of your flareside driving. I really like the exhaust on it!
I am awaiting a brand new built Trans for it as we speak. Once I get that installed, I will absolutely be doing more videos on it!
Several videos and UA-cam shorts are posted after the new Transmission install

i quickly found out you are 100% correct. Only one or two trips up a trail, and its already rutted

How’s the belt holding up now?
I’ve heard going big and heavy darn near requires a clutch kit and wider and tougher belt.
Sold this SxS right after this video was made.
I have had 2 fully electric side by sides I have been modifying
Hello i have a question on your defender hd5 these 30 in tires do they scrub when u turn sharp or going up an down them hills i think you in advance
@@cecilturner758 they do not rub at all, even at full wheel lock.
@@lifewiththehamptons2191 thanks for letting me know I very much appreciate that information
Hi - do the tires rub when you fully turn the wheels left or right?
Not at all
Bigger tires and wheels add unsprung weight to a vehicle. This causes loss of horsepower and puts added strain on axles and drive train!
This is a compromise, I will gladly take!
