    FJ40 V8 Modifications Walk Around
    This 1972 FJ40 is modified and actively hits some of the hardest most challenging trails.
    Here are some of the modifications:
    Vortec 5.7L with 50k miles from donor. Fuel injected with updated fuel injectors, painless wiring harness. 300hp off road tune, 3" exhaust with cutoit valve for full open of Masterflow
    Rams horn shorty headers.
    Custom air intake.
    145 amp alternator. Oil pan skid plate.
    -SM465 4 speed manual transmission with recent rebuild
    - New OEM fuel tank
    - FJ80 Master cylinder, Stainless steel hard lines throughout. Manual brake bias adjuster.
    -New Best Top soft top and doors.
    -Bikini Top
    -hard top, short barn doors, and Steel doors
    -5 New tires Maxxis Trepadors 40x13.5R17 Bias ply
    -5 New Raceline 7x8.5 beadlock wheels
    -Warn XD9000i winch with Factor 55
    -New synthetic winch line and Hawse fairlead
    - Metal tech 4x4 front fenders with uncut skirts
    - LED aux driving lights with integrated turn signals
    -LED Headlights
    - Tuffy center console with radio and all accessory switches built in
    -Metal Tech 4x4 full family Roll cage with integrated front seat cradle, grab handles and oh sh#t bar. Tied into frame in 4 locations
    -Man A Fre rear bumper with swing out cooler carrier and spare tire mount, 2 inch receiver.
    -Yeti 45 cooler
    -RotoPax and RollPax
    -H3R clean chemical extinguisher with H3R billet mount
    -LED reverse light wired for reverse activation and switch operated
    -LED tail lights
    -Custom exhaust tucked up high
    - Aqualu aluminum body, front cowl and windshield with lockable tailgate
    -Rhino lined color match interior, underbody and engine compartment.
    - 3 coats of heavy clear to allow buffing of scratches
    -PRP heated racing suspension seats with lumbar and slides on both sides
    -New 5 point harnesses with quick 1/4 turn release
    -Auto meter full gauge set
    - New Orion 4 to 1 transfer case with disc parking brake and twin stick shifter
    - AA transfer case mount
    - Custom built Toyota CV drive shafts front and rear
    - Rear suspension heavy duty anti wrap bar with Johnny joint and shackle to allow full suspension movement
    - FJ80 4.10 rear full floater axle with disc brakes, new calipers and pads. Factory locker with custom built cable actuator. Welded differential bash guard.
    -Fj55 rear 8 leaf springs for rear springs
    -Fj60 5 leaf rear springs for front springs
    -Custom front Shackle reversal in frame
    -FJ60 4.10 front axle widened 3 inches, cut and turned for 10 degrees of caster with axle brace moved to the top for clearance. Full Longfield cryo birfields and shafts. Cryo locking hub internals. New 4 Runner upgraded 4 piston front calipers. Aussie lunchbox locker. Welded Knuckle brace tabs and steering stops. Recent Knuckle seal reseal. High steer kit with New HD heim joints and double sleeved tubes. Full coverage front diff cover bash guard.
    -Mastercraft nylon Limiting straps front and rear
    -14" front Fox 2.0 reservoir shocks with custom hoops and
    -12" Bilstein 5150 rear shocks
    -PSC hydro assist steering box, high pressure pump, ram, cooler and reservoir. One finger steering in the rocks. Almost normal feel on the street.
    -Flexalite Black Magic electric fan on an immaculate original radiator.
    - Tilt telescope steering column with hd steering shaft and grant leather wheel.
    -Cage mounted 5ft highlift jack with a lift mate in the recovery bag
    - Full and complete recovery bag, Warn 3" tow strap, tree saver, snatch block air compressor etc.
    -Extended Poly bump stops front and rear
    - Metal tech front radiator hoop and stinger
    -Metal Tech Rock sliders
    -Full boxed frame
    -Tacoma Dual diaphram brake booster
    - Annihilate shovel
    -etc.

    Thanks bro, I am ekai alex . From Kenya. Turkana north west of Kenya. I have the same came car manufactured. In 1983.i call it monster. I am from most disadvantage but I Love my monster I am ready to make her beautiful. Her my angel. Help me go through her future. I am staving but I never let her go.

    Great job. Nice workmanship. What kind of radiator do you have? My 77 FJ40 with Chevy 305 just blew the radiator. I need to replace it, but so many options. I plan on replacing the old 305 with a 5.7 Vortex like yours.
    Your help is appreciated.

    What model PSC steering box and pitman arm did you use for the high steer. Nice FK40. I think I'm going to go with the fJ60 fronts and FJ55 rears like you did to lower mine. It sits too tall. Nice front fenders as well.

      Not surr on the pitman arm. PO installed the PSC. Has a high steering arm, abovr the leaf springs (protected)

      What size tire and engine in your 40? Lift?

      @@CruisingTheLand I am running 37" boggers with a 350 chevy, 4 speed with stock axails. The prob was not the ladder bar. Just know i need to upgrade. The boggers are old and rubber is not in The best shape. Plus was not running beadlocks. So with that combo i lost a couple of beads on trail. But the big prob was i was still carburated and the motor was running like shit. Got a new EFI and in process for new beadlock wheels and tires. Will be ready to go for next year.

      @@brianzeh7719 yes, the EFI is a big difference maker especially with all the approach angles and also altitude.

      I love it! Wont rust, I am in SoCal tho, so really no issue. Lighter too.

      @@CruisingTheLand I’ve got a 79 and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a rustier vehicle in my life. It spent its life in the rust belt and then it looks like it was stored in the ocean. I’ve got all the panels to rebuild but been thinking aluminum might be a better way to go. I’m not building a concourse just a good driver.

    How are you going to get that licensed in California. The DMV can be pretty strict.😔 Beautiful rig! I miss the back country of Southern California. I do not miss the 405 Freeway or the lack of freedoms.

      Why would it be hard?
      It is 1972 and smog exempt.
      It is registered and plated CA.
      Now my Diesel HZJ7e is another story....
