Since I had to work so much on such piano heavy songs I was given 2 days to learn this and ended up sight reading it at the concert and almost cried
This song makes me tear up.... a year ago I was in 8th grade and played this song with the best of friends... It's been so long... I haven't seen those guys again, but this song takes me back to all the happy memories I had with that jazz band and how this song was OUR song. The (my) trumpet solo makes me feel proud that I was ever in that band. Thanks you Mr. Hundley.. Jazz Band 2017-18!!

@@sarahscogin9059 it fits better as a stand-in for tenor sax since there's almost always enough trumpets in a jazz band; I've been playing clarinet since we have no tenor in our jazz band and it fits it really well

If you have the drum set sheet for this it provides a groove that stands alone and fills in for the other percussion. I'm playing it in our band without those other percussionists and the interchange between kick and toms with ride cymbal 8th notes does the job.
I love how even if you're not a soloist, you still get to fucking vibe, this song is just hard to not dance to
