I actually happen to be a white gentleman that was born in Texas and I live in Central Florida right now. I spent 11 years with a Colombian woman who was amazing but her and I couldn't see eye to eye. But I can tell you that I have a very open mind and a very open heart. Especially when it comes to food :-) you did a hell of a job. Something pretty simple but a lot of people have been taught how to do this now I don't know the way to do it like you do! Shout out to you! Sorry if this come and didn't make much sense I've had a couple beers today :-) I'm actually in the process of
Pressure cooking curried oxtail. Not sure if you had that but I'm a taste I'm right now it's almost as good as curry goat. Anyway you're a sweetheart and thank you for the video!
If you don’t have a metal handled pot and aren’t down to melt yours (not that you’d have done that I hope) you can totally just ball up foil large enough to make a mold on its own. Works in a pinch.
You shouldn’t cook food touching tinfoil though. It’s really not good for you. It’s much safer to wrap the tortilla around a stainless steel pot. The reason is that the aluminum will seep into the food when it is cooking, and that will pass through the blood brain barrier, which can cause Alzheimer’s later in life.
BEST VIDEO on this taco bowl I have EVER SEEN!! Not all that babbling, straight to the point. Easy instructions and easy recipe. Can't wait to try this. Thank you
I used some smaller ceramic bowls and covered them with foil because I only had small tortillas. Organic coconut oil, little salt, pepper, garlic salt and 400 degrees for 8 minutes!!!!! Perfect. Thank you all the way from New Hampshire!

tip... oil the bowl to stop the shell sticking. I discovered that first attempt and had to wreck the shells to unstick them, but baked tortilla wrap coated in olive oil is super yummy all on it's own and is great for dipping. Who'd have guessed?
Well done, I love taco salads but always ordered them out because I don't like store bought taco shells either. Now I can have homemade shells and so easy I thought they were deep fried another concern and now I see they can be baked.....cool, thanks for the seasoning tips too.
Yesss I have everything but the shells that you buy but now I'm going to make my own. Just bought huge tortillas earlier and I'm so excited to make my own. Whooo hooooo
Just what I was looking for. We're havings Mexican Food Night for dinner and I just wanted something different than our usual burritos, tacos & tostadas. I wanted to know is there a reason you don't combine the meat and beans or is it just a matter of layering or your taste? I just have a habit of mixing my beans and meat (especially with leftovers cause its easier to heat up). If its an issue of the integrity of the bottom of the shell is what I'm curious about. But I'm eager to try this. Since we're Mexican, I'm used to this kind of food all the time but I have never even tried to make a flour tortilla shell because I wasn't sure how good it would be baked (I don't want to fry it since we're frying tostadas/tacos) but this looks good and looks like it'll hold up just fine :D Thx!
Awesome tip… Thanks for the video! I’ve been simply using corn taco shells, warming them up in the toaster oven, and then crunching them up in my taco salad, but they get kind of soggy and limp pretty quick. I was just thinking about how are used to love the flour tortilla shell that was deep-fried at Taco Bell with their taco salad (I don’t know if they make them anymore or not… I stopped eating meat 30 years ago, so that’s how long it’s been since I’ve had a taco salad at Taco Bell lol). This might not taste as good as a deep-fried flour tortilla, but this will have to do because I don’t have anything to shape a flour tortilla into a bowl shape, nor can I afford the amount of oil required to deep fry one! I will say one thing though… This is a tip for you since you provided a solid tip for us: It isn’t good to eat food that is cooked with tinfoil touching it. The reason why is that the aluminum will seep into the food, and that actually crosses the blood brain barrier. This can cause Alzheimer’s disease later in life. I would try to stick to shaping your tortilla around a stainless steel pot.
Pretty smart idea , Ive been searching the dollar store for the chalupa she'll maker but I'd have to buy 4 for everyone to eat at the same time😂😂😂 I might just ball the foil up & try my luck I don't have 4 pota with metal handles so....thanks
You need to soften it in order to shape it… I’m sure that this could easily be done by simply putting the tortilla in a frying pan with a lid on very low heat very briefly, or if that doesn’t work, you might consider putting it in a metal steamer in a big pot with a tiny bit of boiling water underneath for a little bit. The only goal is to soften it up a little bit. I realize your comment is five years old, but this might help others who come across it.
best thing i learned from this was the homemade sour cream drizzle method. i mean that with 100% respect, as using a disposable plastic bag appears to be by far superior than using a plastic bottle to dispense it, then having to clean the damn thing out. pretty freaking simple, yet so...genius! i have spent way too much time thinking about how much better i could make things if i could only apply sour cream without a spoon or bottle.
I don’t know where you live, but here in America sour cream also comes in a soft thick plastic type of container (similar to a squeezable toothpaste container, only much larger), with a lid at the bottom of it which contains a nozzle/dispenser when you open up the lid. It’s a tiny bit more expensive than buying it out of a solid plastic bowl container that you spoon the sour cream out of, but it’s worth it for more than one reason. Not only is the dispenser part of it awesome, as the dispenser is designed in a genius fashion so that the sour cream keeps for eons without spoiling since no air is getting into it at all - but there also isn’t even any of the liquid that will form on the sour cream in the plastic bowl containers. I am always amazed by how long this sour cream will last after it has been opened.
@@anti-ethniccleansing465 turns out that the plastic bag sour cream dispensing didn't work out for me. and i am in az, and i have had the squeeze tube sour cream many times. i think i'll try squeezing that into my plastic bottle, with an adjustment made to the opening.
Damn that looks good I want to know how I make one of these Bowls I usually go to EL Pollo Loco once in awhile. And get me one of those salad bowls to but with chicken but I've decided I don't want to go to out to eat anymore there's a reason I got food poisoning so I've decided to eat at home from now on but I want to learn how to make my own taco salad bowl at home so I can make my El Pollo Loco Chicken Salad Bowl here at home
Cooking with Honey Okay Thank you so much I'm making these for my husband's birthday tomorrow and really needed to know how to make these nd your video was very helpful thank you 😊

DIANA ROSA I have a question. I want to deep fry my flour tortilla shells too, what will I need to do that? Do I purchase that apparatus that they use in the Mexican restaurants? I’m trying to make my own lol. Thank you for your time.
I know your comment is five years old, but for other vegetarian/vegans who come across it, I would encourage them to not only use the fake beef crumbles, but also use black beans and lentils in your taco salad to add tons of protein and a great consistency (i’m not a fan of refried beans for some reason). I like to cook them all up with diced onion, minced garlic, and diced green bell pepper. And of course salt and pepper to taste. I also add canned corn at the end to warm them up, as well as sliced olives (but keep those cold). Everything else is normal as she had… Finely shredded iceberg lettuce, diced tomatoes, guacamole or cubed avocado (which is my preference), sour cream and shredded cheddar cheese (although I like to melt my cheddar cheese in with my “meat“ mixture). Of course you can use vegan substitutes for things like the cheese and sour cream.
