I can’t express enough how good it was to see you guys and how much I appreciate all the fine work y’all did on my van. ❤️🙏 Thank you, again! And you’re right about the whole Black Creek area. It’s awesome for camping and to canoe, especially in early fall.

We would love to go back to Black Creek sometime! Sounds like you got a chance to canoe it?! That must have been amazing. It's fun having reasons to return. We hope you are doing well and your van is progressing awesomely. 😀

@@oneadVANtureatatime Oh yes! The creek is so fun to canoe, especially when camping overnight on the sandbars. There are different landings along the way, so your trip can be a short sprint or go on for many miles. It’s one of my favorite things to do. The van walls are almost done, so yes, the build is progressing well. Thanks again for your expertise!

Well, another great trip! Thanks for letting me tag along, I used to be so afraid of storms, but now I kinda like them. What memories, my sister had a time share in Gulfport,Ms and we went every year! She would go to the casino and I would get out and run all over town. Then the big storm came and blew everything away, went back 3 years ago and it was all changed! Roddle looks cute with his cut! Blessings

They set the maintenance interval at 60k so people won't put in the wrong fluid (Use ATF+4) under factory warranty. The 62te is also used in the minivans and some cars. It is a good transmission but should be serviced as severe duty in a heavy self built motorhome. It's the clutch material from the lockup torque converter, service the trans. And just buy the converter when it goes out (slipping code) or rely on warranties.

Hopefully, your transmission has a dipstick...which, upon withdrawing it out, I would think you could see the color and determine the smell of the transmission fluid. I deal with this platform on a daily basis, all dodge promasters use transmissions from mini vans. That is why these things fail. Chrysler puts the same tranny inside of a mini van. Stay away from this junk!!!

That makes sense...the engine from a jeep wrangler and a transmission from a minivan. Not a very heavy duty set up.

84k miles right now. We just had the front brake pads replaced as well. They were toast.

@@oneadVANtureatatime I assume you never had the transmission oil changed or flushed with so little miles. Trans should be changed every 30 k miles. Dont flush it, just change the oil and replace. You wont change the oil in the torque converter but at this stage you dont want to.

Yes, the last vehicle I owned was 80k miles for a transmission fluid and filter change. I was thinking the same for this vehicle. Turns out it's 60k miles on the Promaster. All future changes will be at 30k miles like you said.

30k for lots of city or slow dirt road travel. You can push to 50K if your mainly doing fast freeway miles. 30 k is recommended as your best option for any automatic.@@oneadVANtureatatime

For the type and style of driving you guys appear to be doing you should have the transmission serviced every 30,000 miles, religiously. Unfortunately it appears (by your statement of it being black and smelling burnt) you have created some major problems for yourselves that will eventually show themselves down the road, and definitely not at the most opportune time. Transmission fluid, brake fluid, power steering fluid AND ENGINE COOLANT must be changed at the recommended intervals. Most people do not know that all these fluids wear out, become contaminated (brake fluid absorbs moisture, corrodes caliper pistons which in turn damages the seals), etc., etc. When fluids exceed their recommended change intervals the mechanical components they operate/service also become damaged internally. Changing/servicing fluids is a helluva lot less expensive than replacing their respective mechanical parts.
