Thank you so much for all your ASVAB math videos. My daughter was struggling with math and nervous to take her test. You share a lot of great tricks to solving problems. After watching all your videos and studying she scored an 86 on the ASVAB and qualified academically for any job she wants in the Air Force. We can’t thank you enough!!
Tip here! In exercise number 10 you can convert the fractions to percentages, then add the percentages, then multiply the total of percentages to the total of nuts, and finally subtract your result to the total of nuts(200-70) and it’ll give you the answer. Hope this helps!
Thanks i’m getting ready for the asvab and i’m really struggling to find good resources to study but you’re very helpful to me and you do the work very clear.
I want to thank you so much for your help, i had to retake my test because the jobs i had before disqualified me because i was colorblind, i came back less than a week later with watching your videos here and there and i can glady say i passed!!!
I’m getting ready to take my union test for the second time I was very unprepared and wanted to get a feel for it can you go over a study guide for each topic I appreciate everything your making a change in the people who need help the most and can’t get no help thank you I’m praying everything goes good
Wanted to take time to thank you, at first I was frustrated because I’ve forgotten all my basic math but you really helped me remember it, I passed asvab with a 42 line which isn’t the best but I scored high in the section that mattered which is how your videos are. Already swore in and ship out in June, thank you!
wow for number 12 i actually. divided 24 got 12 and divided it into 3 and got my answer like that and i did that all in my head in like 30 sec love the vid it helps me refresh my mind.
Love your videos, they focus on answering quickly and with reason. Good questions that focus on reading comprehension too. When working out some of the problems, I got the wrong answer just because I didn't fully read the questions. Well done! Taking the ASVAB next Tuesday and am cramming all this AR in since it's my weakest area.
Hello Colfax Math! I just wanted to drop a comment to express my gratitude for your amazing videos. I'm currently getting ready for the ASVAB test, which is just a few weeks away, and I must say, your videos have been incredibly helpful in my preparation. Thank you so much for taking the time to create and upload them. On the practice sheet covered in this video I noticed that the Mathematical Knowledge Practice in the back of the sheet had questions #18-40. Would it be possible for you to make a video going over those specific questions? I believe it would greatly benefit me and many others who are studying for the ASVAB. Once again, thank you for your dedication and the valuable content you provide. Keep up the fantastic work!
10 was really easy to do in my head and I got the right answer. I just thought 1/10 of 200 is 20 plus 1/4 of 200 is 50 then 200-70 is 130, c. Is this the right way of doing things or will this not work on other problems?
You're videos are great and have helped me a lot although you lost me on a couple steps. I wanted to get some more practice with chapter 9 but realized the link is not working. Im not sure if theres anything you can do about that...
It's a hard problem with lots of ideas in it. Adding and multiplying fractions, common denominators, proportions. First is to figure out what fractional amount of the apples you used, after that you can figure out what fractional amount you have left 1/8. From there if 1/8 is the fractional amount left and 3 is the total amount of apples, you can do 3 divided by the 1/8 to get 24 total apples to start with
@@ColfaxMath Can you just send me the link still not finding it. All I see is mid term parts 1 and 2 along with other sections/ subjects you have covered like fractions etc.
5 goes into both numbers but also 15 goes into both numbers. 15 goes into 45 three times and 15 also goes into 105 seven times so the fraction can be reduced to 3/7.
@@tamaraforbes6459 hi! not sure if you still need help with that problem but basically you need to move the Zs to one side of the equation and the numbers to the other Keep in mind that when you move numbers to the other side of the equation, positive numbers will be negative and vice versa. Also anything you do on one side of the equation, you must do the same for the other. So once you move everything around it will be 3z+2z=25-5+5 which then simplifies to 5z=25 from here you divide 25 by 5 to get z by itself, and that gives you z=5! Hope this helped lol
I'm so stress I got 36 at asvab; my air force recruiter said is low so I have to retake and he said it's my last chance How can I increase my score? I'm trying to study everyday but I don't know
Set aside time every day and study. Print out practice tests and work on them on your own. I have a playlist called Foundations of Math on my channel, work your way through those videos with paper and pencil in hand and do the problems.
Yes that is correct, the least common multiple is 20 and it would be good to use that number. I used 40 only because it seemed easier to see and multiply to. As long as you are multiplying by one to get the fraction the same it doesn't change the value of the number.
I’m taking my ASVAB for the Air Force. I scored a 42 for the practice now Im pushing to pass the final test. Is the GS, EI, MK, AS, AO important? I only studied WK AR PC MK
Hi so I keep watching your videos and I really am nervous cause I have to take my ASVAB in like 4 days I just wanted to know like how would they grade you if you do good in math, arithmetic, and English alone cause the others topics I can get like 6 out of 15 questions correct in like Mechanical Electrical Science And the last thingy with the shapes is easy cause my practice test for the ASVAB I got a 55 but I want to stick to 55 and over cause that's the only way I can get the MOS I want so please explain it for me
The total has to be one, the common denominator is 40, the fraction 40/40 is equal to 1 so once I had the parts I had to figure the remaining amount to make 40/40.
On number 12, have to find the fractional amount of apples left, find the common denominator and take the amount of apples left. And divide by the fractional amount of apples left. 3 divided by 1/8 to get 24 total apples
@@YourPalAlex540 10% of 60 is 6 but 8% was needed. That translated into 0.8 since we were now at 10%. he just multiplied 6x8 to get 48 and and then moved the decimal once to the left to get 4.8 which is the same as as 6 x 0.8, at least that's how I understood it.

Break it down a lil more on some problems for refreshers.! We be lost on some things
Ok, will do
Agreed
question #9 how did you arrive at dividing with 15? does that apply to all probability questions?
When reducing fractions you are looking for numbers that go into both the numerator and denominator. I picked 15 because it goes into both
Or you could just divide both by 5 and reduce it then reduce it again and u have 3/7
@@kameronmallory7006thank you! Needed that
On question 12, where did you get the denominator of 1?
All numbers have a one as a denominator, anything divided by one is the number itself
Where are questions 18-40 do you have the youtube link?
It's in the description, you have to scroll down some

@@ColfaxMath Can you copy and paste the link in the comment when you get the chance to for the ASVAB Arithmetic Reasoning Practice Test Part 3?
For question 9, when you reduce why do you choose 15 as the number that goes into 45?
Multiple ways to do it, just any number that goes into it
10:50 you are looking for the cube root of it, but why? is it because it says cubic inches?
Yes
What did you use to reduce the 45/105? On the first question
5 goes into both numbers but also 15 goes into both numbers. 15 goes into 45 three times and 15 also goes into 105 seven times so the fraction can be reduced to 3/7.

at 5:32, she used 3/4 out of the 1/2 she had left... why did you multiply them? She used 3/4, why did you not subtract 3/4 from the remains half?

For #10, the least common multiple of 4 and 10 is 20. Why did you use 40 when it’s not the first common one 4 and 10 have?
