This marks the end of an "era" for us. This van was a true game changer for the way we see the world. So many memories. I hope this is the right decision. Would love to hear your thoughts😳
I too had CV joint blow apart (mine is an 87 tin top Syncro). Ultimately replaced all axles and all CV joints as a precautionary measure. I've just replaced the engine (as stock). So figure I've spent $40K US dollars (it was a one-owner, near pristine find) total, including the original purchase cost. There's just nothing being sold that has the same combination of features. Will be interesting to see what you end up with. The VW vanagon/T3 is a perfectly imperfect vehicle. Surely enjoy your videos.
Perfectly imperfect pretty much sums it up👌🏼 We want to go further, for longer and also something that can take us there during winter. Needed a change, although it was no easy choice. Thanks for watching!
Wow, saya menonton dari van itu masih berwarna merah dan kalian mengecatnya di parkiran. Perjalanan yang sangat panjang dan indah. Oya simon, pengambilan gambarmu selalu sangat bagus.
Really sad that you guys have to say goodbye to your be loved van. Your trips and videos has been an inspiration for me and more people. Actually after to watch your videos and bought your guide finally I am enjoying Norway in my own. I started my trip the 8th and still travelling and discovering the beauty of Norway for few more days. The weather has been super so far!! Looking forward to know your upcoming projects!!!!
It was no easy choice, but we’re okay with trying something new now. Thanks for checking out the guide, I hope it’s helpful as you travel through my home country. Weather is great now, may it last! Enjoy☺️🇳🇴
Thanks Simon. Indeed the guide has been really useful. Norway is beautiful just a dream for nature lovers!! Heading back home but definitely I will come back. Looking forward for your new adventures. Best wishes for the three of you!!
Lovely to see you guys back again. Each car you own is like a journey, just like each country you visit. You’ll always look back on ‘Truck’ and remember the good times. If you ever come back to New Zealand you can drive ours for old times sake! Looking forward to your next move 🤙🏻
I am italian and i started watching your videos when we came to norway, by motorbyke. I also own a 77 vw t2. Your t3 van is one of the ingredients of your videos that I really love because are high-quality/normal-people ones. Life goes on and things changes so I wish you the best of the luck for your new adventures! (Please improve your pizzas!!)
Your videos inspired me to go to Norway. I am finally here and plan to travel for 4 months. I’ve never clicked faster on a UA-cam video in my life. So happy there is a new video!
I have the same van, so I hope you still keep it, we T3 owners relate to your trials and tribulations as we have the same problems van wise Anyway best of luck
I am trying to relocated the blog where a couple from the UK purchased a Royal Army one ton 4X4 and had an entire RV unit built on the chassis. They had it transported to Nova Scotia on a roll on/roll off ship transporting tractors to Canada. They drove from Nova Scotia across Canada up to Prudhoe Bay Alaska, then south all the way to Argentina/Patagonia, then up to Buenos Aries where they put their vehicle, nicknamed "The Beast" on a roll on/roll of ship back to the UK. They have an epic blog complete with photos. Oh, and now I remember, while in Chile they parked The Beast and took a side trip down to Antarctica. As a followup, their blog was featured at the Expedition Portal website. I have inquired about the blog. Great website for folks like the all of you.
@@SimonBraeck I'm trying to find the entire blog archiving their amazing trip. 2+/- years. They were in their mid 30's, quit their jobs, and went on a trip for a lifetime. I believe they still use their beast to travel throughout Europe. 1/4 of the RV is the WC (I assume as was demanded by the misses).
Thank you so much guys for your amazing videos and sharing the van travel love. ❤ Have been watching for a few years and finally made it to Norway last summer inspired by you. Looking forward to your next chapter. It's in the winter and the long journeys we also feel the same about needing another option but without losing the essence of the journey or having to hibernate for so long. So we understand your decision. Much love Hannah (Human) and Henrietta (T2 '74 Orange Bay)
Thanks for the kind words🥹 And I’m glad you made it to Norway, such a wonderful place for exploring and living out of a van. True, a new option will extend the season and even enable winter activities while staying out in the van. Looking forward ti trying that out😊
Im so sad to see truck norris leave 🥲. You guys bought norris a bit earlier then i bought my T3. Loved every video of the build and the trips u guys had with him. Still so sad to see him leave tho🥺
I feel kind of sad..we just started traveling into our new T3 hightop campervan❤ and we are just sad knowing you guys without your T3.. You guys inspired us, and we were so happy watching you guys having those gorgeous trips... Stay safe wherever you guys are!
Brings back so many great memories of my own. Thank you so much for sharing … it was a nice surprise to see you wonderful people again in my feed this Sunday afternoon! I too had a VW van, 1981 I bought very used. I saw it from afar in a back lot of a used car dealer. I just saw the very top portion of it, made a quick u-turn. The story was much like yours. Took a few months to get it road worthy and the rest was history. Experienced all of the USA except Alaska & Hawaii, most of Canada and a bit of northern Mexico. I was more of a mountain biker then. Hiked a bit too! I was probably about your age back then. You are so blessed to have all of these van travels recorded and edited so well !! Thank you so much for sharing and bringing back so many wonderful memories from long ago. Looking forward to your future projects. All the best to you both! Blessings!
Wow, what a great story, thanks for sharing it! Unbelievable achievement getting such an old thing on the road and completing almost all of the US, kudos to you. My pleasure, really. Glad you could extract some of your own memories from watching this🥹
Goodbye Norris, it was great hanging out with you! 👋 Can’t wait for what’s next for you guys 💙 Great video, we always love seeing your adventures 😊 See you on the road this summer?
It's a shame that Chuck has to leave the field, I'm a fan of VW vans myself. But I enjoyed Chuck and you of course. Good luck with your next project. greetings Jan.
WOW, what an end. Norris does not want you to leave him alone. Please keep him even just for short trips, while using another rig for longer ones. No other camper will ever turn the spirit of a VW, especially after you prepared Norris by your selves. Your trips really inspire everyone who watches. Yes I plan coming soon after travelling Norway back in 1997.
Even though it was the last T3 Road trip. it will stay in your hearts.❤ I missed you guys.🎉 Because always when I'm watching your videos I want to pack my bags and drive with my car to Norway. Even if I was there in march. But the weather in Oslo was a mess. Rain, snow and windy and as we left the Sun. Haha. I'm right now every day I want to come back. Greetings from Switzerland and I'm looking forward to the new videos. 😊
Another great video. Was myself last august with the motorbike on the Lofoten and Vesteralen, also 30 degrees and lots of sun. Indeed a magical part of Norway.
Thank you for showing another epic norway adventure and the most beautiful scenery. It's sad having to move on to a new chapter in life after such amazing times but the memories will be there for you. Good luck with your next project and i will be looking forward to your next adventures.
That was a pleasant surprise, even if a little sad. You’re so lucky to have a country that provides such amazing adventures. We’re upgrading our old camper, for a slightly newer one, so looking forward to that. I wonder what your new adventures have in store for us all, exciting!
Cloudberries / Multer 🧡 My favourite as well!!! I Can't wait for the season to start this year I have some lingonberry and crowberryjuice left from last year, but all the blueberries, wild strawberries, blackberries and raspberries are gone 😔
End of one era..... Epic film, emotional. you always do justice to the awesome scenery. I still get jelly-legs watching, when Benedikte stands right on the edge of the rock on top 1000m high mountain 😅 Keep moving forward guys!
I was just wondering about you two a few days ago. Glad to hear that you are apparently well. Truck Norris served you well, with an occasional bit of mechanical obstinance. Thank you for the always informative travel blog. Take care and happy trails. Chuck in Kentucky, USA
At 78 and with only five years with a Vanagon I have to say the Vanagon may not be that vehicle to take me out there. It’s requires too much mechanical knowledge to keep it on the road. I love driving and camping in my Westy but where I live no one will work on this 50 year old van. Even a newer (98 Subie 2.2L) engine the Vanagon was built for 55 MPH speeds in a hurry. I have to thank you for giving wings to a great traveling vision for these years with a Vanagon.
Totally agree with these reflections. It’s a constant challenge and you’re always on the lookout for the next failure of some sort. We gave it a shot and followed our dream, can’t ask for much more☺️
What an epic video again, congratulation Simon and Benedikte. Norway has a so wonderfull landscape and you both know how to capture it. Amazing drone shots. We are looking forward to our travel to Norway in September/Oktober with our 4x4 sprinter van…i know you like this sort of van 😉. Goodbye Truck Norris…you where a great companion.
Spectacular. Awewome creativity. Such a good job of editing, material, b rolls, transitions, sound and track and cinema photography. Enjoyed every moment, as I do all your movies.
This farewell video is a good opportunity to thank you for your great videos. The details, the mood, the cooking and the sense of adventure in your videos always make us look forward to our next vacation in Norway. We have traveled through southern Norway twice so far (once with a T6). We love the great nature in Norway and inspired by your videos we will explore the north next time.
Thank you very much for the kind words😊 The perfect destination for people who is open for exploration and doing it with a van must be the most optimal way in my opinion☺️
Thanks Norris and you both so far for sharing these adventures. I hope Norris get's a great future and I wish your next chapter is even as good ore even better that this so far. I bought a new transporter Van and made it my own 'Norris' . It already got me back to Sogndal and surroundings last May. I hope to see more again of you soon. Thanks for the nice video.
Watched your vids with Chuck, great work and a great ending. I don't think Chuck wants to leave. 🤣 Heading over myself in my self built van conversion or motorbike, not yet decided. Thanks for the insight to Norway. 👍
Welcome to Vesterålen indeed ist a hidden gem. 💎 sad with the car but it opens up for new adventure with a new project. Nice to see that you three got experience a lot with the old car through Norway 🇳🇴 best regards.
I had a van like that, it worked well, but needed tlc. I sold mine and build a new one whit my daughter mb sprinter . I enjoy your movies. I see harmony and love, like you are. Benedictine and Simon .keep the movies come.
A solid tip for the retiree! I winced at the thought of hiking down that muddy hillside, picturing myself and junior's 9 month/55 kilo(!) tamaskan puppy sprinting the enite way😱 Another excellent video, thank you! Already shared. And good luck on your next project!
Mesmerizing as always..please don't lag to post videos guys, the waiting is too much..Then, i would suggest you guys should travel across the world..I hope it will happen someday..
Fantastic! I’ve enjoyed following you on your travels with Norris. Can’t wait to see what your next adventure will be. And now I must hop in my 1978 VW Camper Bus and drive to a favorite trail head in our Wyoming mountains with my Springer Spaniel Bella for a little hike. Peace. Bill 😎👍
Oh! Always love to watch your travels and all those beloved places, and bring my own journeys through Norway. So sad to say goodbye to Norris, but hopefully a new rig will take you to even more beautiful places to explore (with fewer worries :D ) Best luck! See you on the road somewhere in Norway (maybe!) :D
Hi Simon! Started to follow you 2020 before my road trip with my dad to Norway! What a journey it has been. And what about your progession as a content creator! I am falling in love again with Norway every time I watch your videos. You can be proud of you!
Thank you so much for sharing such beautiful views once again. We are looking forward to getting back to Norway with our T6 and to be honest, we were hoping to meet you guys up there on the road someday. So please don't wait too long with Norris' successor 😊
(and yes, I personally think it's the right decision. Everything has it's time, and so did a T3. My guess for your next one: either a G-Class or a Landover 😎).
Thanks for watching, I appreciate the kind words 😊 We're well underway with the successor, aiming to get it ready during the summer months. You'll know what to look for soon enough😄
Hi Simon, once again a very nice and inspiring video. Thanks and congrats !!! Hope you will find soon a suitable van for replacing Truck Noris that got a well deserved retirement. Still preparing our Aug. 24 roadtrip based on your travelguide and videos. Maybe we will met by chance somewhere on a scenic norvegian road... Stef
Hi Stef. Thanks for the very kind words. New van is on the way and we're excited to test it on a longer journey. Hope the guide (and videos) help you plan the best possible trip to Norway, I am sure you'll like it. Take care 😊
I've been going through withdrawal symptoms awaiting my next Simon Braeck fix. So sad to see the T3 DSED'd. That's 1970's fortran language for the point in a program were a bug caused the program to be deceased.
Epic video! Must have taken maaany hours to edit 😍 looking forward to follow your sprinter project. Are you going to make youtube videos of the build also?
Imponerende flott filming!
Hi there, I have a vwT3 and need winter tyres. Did you have wintertyres for your T3 and if so would you be willing to share with me the name and size? That would be a big help for me in the search for winter tyres
Norway is more than the stereotypical fjords which 99% of all tourists come here to see because that’s what they think Norway is, even though that’s just the west coast (vestlandet)… We have tundras, sandy white beaches with turquoise blue water, running hills, deep forests as ancient as the Last Ice Age, even «rainforest», lakes, the list goes on.
Nice video! How did a wheel fall off! wrong shaped bolts were used? And the driveshaft too; not torqued up? You dont have much luck guys :-( ... far too much beautiful country to enjoy to deal with such an unreliable van. VW Crafter 4motion? ;-) How do you find the Toyo tyres? Im looking for such a tyre for my van.
Thank you😊 I can only speculate, but it got some work done at a shop, I suspect they removed the wheel without me knowing and suddenly the bolts became loose after some short driving. It's a shame, really. We hope the new rig will enable more exploring and less fixing😄 Can't spoil the model just yet🥹 We're really pleased with the Toyo's. Feels like a sensible mix between road comfort/noise and off-road capability. Using BF Goodrich's on a T3 feels overkill and would cause the CV-joints to jump around even more😂
This marks the end of an "era" for us. This van was a true game changer for the way we see the world. So many memories. I hope this is the right decision. Would love to hear your thoughts😳

Wow, thanks! I really appreciate this. Hoping Norway will live up to your expectations😊

Thank you very much😊

Hi guys beautiful beautiful video happy to see u guys🎉❤
Thank you☺️ happy to be back (at last!)
Mesmerizing as always..please don't lag to post videos guys, the waiting is too much..Then, i would suggest you guys should travel across the world..I hope it will happen someday..
Great to see you guys again ! And what a return it is, some wonderful scenery beautifully captured.
Thank you, I really appreciate it!😀
Episk naturfilming! Spanande å sjå den neste eventyrbilen!
Takk Tor🥹 Måtte bare ta mæ litt tid på å fullføre filmen, men no går all ledig tid til van-bygging😎
Fantastic! I’ve enjoyed following you on your travels with Norris. Can’t wait to see what your next adventure will be. And now I must hop in my 1978 VW Camper Bus and drive to a favorite trail head in our Wyoming mountains with my Springer Spaniel Bella for a little hike. Peace. Bill 😎👍
Thanks for following along! 😊 Alright, some air cooled fun coming up, enjoy Bill! 😎
Thank you! That’s the goal, let’s hope its the outcome too. Soon you’ll know what to look for😉👀🇳🇴
I literally checked your channel just yesterday to look for updates! Thanks for sharing these epic shots, just stunning!
Thank you, that’s really appreciated😃
Hi I have followed all your travels, sorry to see to go. Good luck for the future.
Thank you🤗
Hi Simon!
Started to follow you 2020 before my road trip with my dad to Norway! What a journey it has been. And what about your progession as a content creator! I am falling in love again with Norway every time I watch your videos.
You can be proud of you!
Thank you ever so much for the kind words. It means a lot🥹
Love your videos, truly inspirational. so sad but I know that life moves on.
Thank you very much😊
Thanks for the kind words! New adventures coming up soon☺️
I love the Stryn arear so much ❤️
It's something else🤩👌🏼
Good to see you both again, so are you planning to get another van at some point?
Beautiful ❤
Thank you so much for sharing such beautiful views once again. We are looking forward to getting back to Norway with our T6 and to be honest, we were hoping to meet you guys up there on the road someday. So please don't wait too long with Norris' successor 😊
(and yes, I personally think it's the right decision. Everything has it's time, and so did a T3. My guess for your next one: either a G-Class or a Landover 😎).
Thanks for watching, I appreciate the kind words 😊 We're well underway with the successor, aiming to get it ready during the summer months. You'll know what to look for soon enough😄
Let's wait and see👀
Amazing film -
Thank you very much 😊
Beautiful video
Thank you 😊
Stunning! 10 out of 10 for interest and presentation. An epic episode full of majestic places.
Thanks for sharing.
Is your book still available?
Thank you for the kind words☺️ It’s available on my website, but still only as an e-book
Thank you. Just purchased it from your instagram page. ❤
Ouch, hope this could help out!😃 Thanks for the explanation, I was needed, haha. It’s a bittersweet moment, we will never forget this old guy🚎
Epic video! Must have taken maaany hours to edit 😍 looking forward to follow your sprinter project. Are you going to make youtube videos of the build also?
Thank you!😄 yes indeed, many hours trying to make it properly watchable👌🏼 Oh yes, looking forward to sharing that process!
Wow
😊🙌🏼
Na endlich... 😉
Hopefully worth waiting for 😊
@@SimonBraeck Always! and next week, we'll go to our next adventure in our dream country. 🇳🇴
Been wondering where you've been (as my husband and i are preparing to buy a van to live in for a year!)!
This was a tough one to make... Took ages, sorry about that🥲
What a commitment, best of luck!
Imponerende flott filming!
Hi there, I have a vwT3 and need winter tyres. Did you have wintertyres for your T3 and if so would you be willing to share with me the name and size? That would be a big help for me in the search for winter tyres
Hi! Thanks, we love those. They're the Rally Wheels from GoWesty
VW Crafter 4motion? ;-)
How do you find the Toyo tyres? Im looking for such a tyre for my van.
Thank you😊 I can only speculate, but it got some work done at a shop, I suspect they removed the wheel without me knowing and suddenly the bolts became loose after some short driving. It's a shame, really. We hope the new rig will enable more exploring and less fixing😄 Can't spoil the model just yet🥹
We're really pleased with the Toyo's. Feels like a sensible mix between road comfort/noise and off-road capability. Using BF Goodrich's on a T3 feels overkill and would cause the CV-joints to jump around even more😂
@@SimonBraeck What model alloy wheels were you running with those Toyo tyres? They look great!
The Rally Wheels from GoWesty. I think they suit the van very well!
You will miss him if you sell him.
Absolutely. No way around it😓
