I’d love for him to move more, but Brock played very well for the amount of separation his dudes were getting. He had the highest pressure rate and the most tight window throws of his career. It’s wild you’d think this was the ravens game. Dude had a 101 passer rating and a plus 17% completion percentage over expectation. There are maybe two other QBs in this league that could do what he did in that game.

@@ericbooth5932 I think it was the coverage with the immediate pass rush, he wasn’t able to go through his reads quick enough or was taking guys that were opening over another guy also open but on the opposite side of the field. By the time he got to that read he’d be getting hit. He wasn’t perfect but no qb is perfect with terrible o line and lack of separators.

100 % Terry. No separation most of the time, and heavy pressure most of the time, and a running game that had a bunch of plays for no or little yardage. The interception was a bad decision (J tightly covered to begin with and another defender reading the play and coming in to deflect it), and the fumble was obviously his fault. Happens. But he made a ton of good throws, never lost his composure, and was quick to give credit to the Viking defense and scheme afterwards. It wasn't Brock's best game, but it was a really good game- and it was a fantastic learning experience.

Brock is a pocket passer first and then a runner second. Kyle needs to switch up the offensive system. To think he can still be top 10 in advanced passing metrics with little to no separation is from receivers is wild. He’s fitting passes in tight windows. • @armandogarcia1024
      @armandogarcia1024 День тому

@@michaelgonzalez5108 what habits, I don’t see any habits that teams are exploiting. To me Mason is plowing every defense but right now Niners don’t have a back up RB. Kyle needed to use Mason just a little more, Brock missed a few check downs, Minnesota played out of their minds defensively.
It was pretty much a repeat of last year which to me I’m asking Kyle, you really don’t have anything for an over aggressive defense?? That defense over pursued everything all game.
Brock had more than enough good drives one really good one where they went for it on 4th and nothing but again. That was the crucial pot of the game because it went from possibly 3 or 7 to minus 7 cuz right after was the long pass to Jefferson. So that was a 10 to 14 point swing.
How do you have a rb carving up the defense and still can’t get guys open? Darnold with a simple play action got a wide open receiver in the end zone.
Idk what you’re watching but this loss was not on Brock. Could he have been better yes but again. He had pressure in his face most of the game. Two the defense was 2 Superman type plays by Warner from getting demolished. The defense was getting carved up all game. And special teams had a blunder.
So while QBs get a good amount of blame on any loss. It doesn’t necessarily mean it was all on them or in this case I would say pass pro still an issue specially when tent is giving up sacks and pressures. And the defense played below average
This wasn’t a Jimmy G game where fdefense played well special teams didn’t make mistakes and he just played bad or got exposed.
Plus it’s the second week and he played great in his first week. How’s Aaron Rodger’s doing in the season? One good game one not so good
There’s nothing to over react about with Brock

I don't know why Lamar Jackson is brought into the discussion. He's basically the Dak of the AFC. He puts up enough regular season stats to nab MVP's but he's a shell of himself in the playoffs. It's ridiculous that Brock's off game was 28 for 36. I watch every other QB throw picks and make horrible decisions and little is mentioned but Brock has to be perfect and if he is It's only because of the players around him. Really wish Steve would mention that more. He should know because without Jerry Rice, Brent Jones, Ricky Watters in Tampa he sucked and it took him a couple of years in SF to really turn into the perrienal all pro he became. David Lombardi brought up a stat that perfectly explains the problem. The Niners receivers are getting no separation and that's affecting Brock's throws and why he took so many sacks against Minn. This is the perfect time for Deebo to miss 2 games. The Rams are even more hobbled by injuries than the Niners and NE stinks. They're gonna need Deebo back week 5 against Ariz. Hopefully Trent will be back in form and our 30 million dollar receiver will play like one. I just hope they don't run Jordan Mason into the ground. If he goes down the season's really over.

Must be able to adapt without the premium pieces he has around him. The pieces are falling and the others aren't delivering the way they can or have in the past, so it's time to put on the cape and get a little creative and dynamic. Montana was understatedly mobile and rarely gets credit for the use of his legs on rollouts and scrambles. He had some moments in that last game when he needed to dip out of the pocket and stood in there and other where he needed to step up and climb the pocket. He was definitely off and you could see the disruption the Vikings D caused. Just gotta learn and move forward.

    Re Focus on Purdy:
I thought that after introducing relevant comments by Steve Young, you were going to differentiate your own view from the 49er mob of analyzers who fear drifting too far from the official line, which is that Purdy was the unexpected perfect pearl within the unpromising oyster of low draft picks. 49er fans should not criticize him, because it's NEVER his fault nor is he a PRIMARY reason for a particular defeat. You started out firmly, then suddenly began retreating into equivocations and shrugging of shoulders. It is clear that at this stage of his career, Brock Purdy isn't a quarterback to instinctively move from a scripted play to an improvised one. He is overwhelmingly Kyle's actor executing a Kyle-scripted play. What was most telling about the 49er-Viking game was that the issues manifested in the 1st half were in no way fixed by Kyle and his staff during the half-time break. The 2nd half was at least as bad as the 1st half. I cannot remember any draw plays, and certainly not by Purdy. Perhaps Kyle feared a "head bonk" being inflicted on Brock "the Pearl" Purdy. Kyle can always fall back on the injury and out-of-shape list to explain the loss, thus protecting his QB from heavy criticism. However, a team's plays are pre-designed; such plays should include contingency plays when the primary scripted plays aren't working. Each game should have a "what if?" alternate set of plays. Fixes and patches have to be ready to implement at half-time. In defense of Kyle & his football braintrust, there were several distractions early-to-late summer, which might have distracted him/them. Kyle has shown a tendency to gamble poorly and unwisely. How else does one explain his putting Jarret Kingston on waivers, rather than one of his abundant, often injured DBs? One of the perennial issues with the 49ers under Kyle is the O-line. If Kyle has a low opinion of any aspect of his 49er team, it is clearly the O-line. It shows year after year.

You can't change a pocket passer to someone who eludes and runs. That's a ridiculous take, Steve should know better. Also Young was very good but he made a lot of huge mistakes in big games by fumbling when running. He's probably the reason the 90s niners only won one ring.

Idk bout Steve’s comments, he’s been feeling himself way too much. It all comes down to the OLine and the game plan. When you have Mason running 5ypc, Aiyuk Kittle and backups are plenty good. OLine needs to pass block better than last game. RPOs?? Cmon Steve, the best runs for even Purdy but for any QB is when they aren’t trying to run but do so when it’s open and everything else is covered.

😂 Agree that Brock should step up. But so does the O-line. Brock was sack 4 times. Hard to throw or run if the O-line is giving Brock time. Vikings might have found some a way for teams to beat Niners. Shift the defense so that Brock can't determine what the defense scheme is. Seems Kyle had no answer. This is a copy cat league. Instead of waiting for Kyle to dictate what is open. Defense is trying to confuse what Brock thinks is the defense is doing. Why isn't the Niners defense doing this? Brock just need to play his game, managing the offense. He's not Mahomes or Allen or Lawrence or etc. Play within himself. RB Mason was open, but Brock was looking down field. Brock needs to go to everyone. So defense must cover everyone. Brock can't concentrate on Deebo, Cmc, Kittle n BA. Williams is older too. Niners should have drafted a replacement they can groom. What happened to the DTs, thought run stuffing was upgraded. Is the D-Coordinator up to job. Best Vikings WR covered by a Safety? Niners got 3 strong safety types, instead of a free safety type. Kyle still isn't using rookies, except for Puni. Use Cowing, at least as decoy, his speed wiil scare defenses. Guerendo can be used as RB or TE/WR. He was a WR in college before switching to RB. Kyle scheme might have gotten old. Teams have seen to 5 yrs. Kyle need to add wrinkles. Need to exploit all the player's talent. Last yr, he failed to use Mason to give breaks to Cmc. Paying the price now? Was tired in SB. Now, hurt.
