- Testing a RPM limiter, still needs a little adjustment. My goal is about 45-50 km/h on a GPS. The danish police has portable testers, they can confiscate your scooter if it breaks the 64 km/h limit on the tester for the second time.

Hi Carsten, can you tell me where i can get this rpm limiter? I have an NRG which maxs out at 5000rpm and would like to get the performance you have shown in this video. Thanks.
Hi Richard, this is a limiter. It does the opposite, it restricts your rpm to go slower. The performance you see is because i derestricted my scooter and mounted a 48 mm cylinder kit.
If yours maxes out at 5000 rpm, something is wrong. Totally stock, it should do 7000-8000 rpm.

I have Power DD and it goes 57km/h. Im gonna buy Giannelli Extra v2, do you know how much faster i will go then? And also did the Giannelli go come with a variator roller, if so how much does the roller weight?
Don't know that exhaust. The Go doesn't come with different rollers.
So i bought a yasuni z for my scooter.. m it went like about 55kmh also but with the yasuni it goes about 75kmh

Har du fået det til at virke som det skal? Jeg overvejer nemlig sådan en hvis det kan lade sig gøre at begrænse den til omkring de 40 km/t, ellers er det vist ligemeget. Hvor har du gemt knappen og var det let nok at installere? Tak :)
Jeg havde knappen på bundskjoldet over baghjulet, på et senere tidspunkt. Det virkede ok, dette var en 45'er der gik over 90, så jeg skulle bare ned på en 60 stykker. Jeg ville ikke kunne få den ned på 40 med begrænseren, så ville omdrejningerne være for lave til overhovedet at slynge koblingen ud. Dvs. jo højere forskel på topfart og ønsket begrænset fart, jo værre bliver det at begrænse den på omdrejningerne.

Skal nemlig ud og have samme scooter I næste uge og den skulle ku rende lidt over 100. For vil ikke igennem samme helvede en gang til som på min Hot hvor det bestemt ikke virker særlig godt. :)

Hi Carsten! I know you uploaded this video a long time ago, but I bought for myself the same model and I have some troubles with the maximum speed and force. It takes very slow away from 0kmh and it reaches maximum 40kmh with around 7000 rpm. everything is stock and I don't have any restriction in vario, or carburettor (that metall plate with holes). It is very slowly and there is nothing I can do to speed it up. Can you recommend me something efficient? Beside buying a 70cc kit + sport exhaust

someone told me that the motor may be defective. Do you think the same?
Maybe its something with the compression or the vario isn't set up right.
Check so that the exhaust is not clogged, my Yamaha Neos was sort of like this before I changed the exhaust and piston. Also check the roller weights so that they are not worn out (flat spots).
I get around 65kmh but rpm doesnt go higher than 7000 not even downhill.Whats the problem.Btw i have piaagio nrg purejet

Carsten Lorenzen when you say all restrictions, where are all of the restrictions mate?
Kieran Wright metal plate between the carb and airfilter, larger mainjet, distance ring in the front variomatic. The original exhaust is restricted too, i changed it to an unrestricted. Other than that, my version didn't have other restrictions.

hello there i was just wondering if you could help me, because when i got my new exhaust and new rollers, my rpm when i pull off is on 8000, then when i get to 33mph it drops to 7000 what do you think it could be please ??
daniel hickman Do you have a restrictor ring in the front vario? Maybe you reached out to the "end gear" of your vario setup. Could also be because you run the original rear vario pulley, it has curved slots that alter the way it shifts, it decreases the RPM to get better mpg. I've used a Top Performances model in some of my Piaggio scooters. It has straight cut grooves so you get a much more stable RPM during acceleration.

Thanks for the quick response. I have been having trouble getting up to 45-50mph. My scooter just decelerates as if I put the brakes on. I thought it was just the rev limiter. Any ideas would be really appreciated
randytora toratora With a RPM limiter, the speed would just stop, not decelerate. Could sound like you a running lean at full throttle? Just a guess. Have you mounted other parts and not rejettet the carburettor?
Carsten Lorenzen , thanks for the advice. I am running a stock gy6 Ice Bear 150. Just tried the new Cdi , but still the same power down at the top end.
Ok, i don't have any knowledge on that type of engine. Maybe check your valve clearences or carburettor jetting.
Nej, det skal bare kobles på som vejledningen beskriver, og så skruer du på begrænseren indtil ønsket effekt. Men jo hurtigere den kører, så sværere bliver det at justere ned i fart. Jeg kan kun lige holde min under den "magiske" grænse for en 45'er. Det bliver svært at få en NRG ned på omkring 30-40 når den går 100. Den vil have svært ved at trække afsted for omdrejningerne skal justeres så langt ned.
Hard to say, i just like the engine better. In stock trim it's a little more powerful, and i think the engineer work is better, placement of engine mount, carburettor placement and so on. Oh, and 134 mm torque converter is stock on the newer ones.
With all stock parts and no restrictions it does about 75 km/h (real gps tested) speedo speed is a little over 80. Now i get a little over 90 on the GPS, and over 100 on the speedometer.

My brother just bought a NRG 2011 49cc stock carburetor. What to do for best start from 0 to 60kmh ? I don't want to change the cylinder. Only exhaust ? What exhaust for stock 49cc ?
Hi. I would derestrict it and mount a Giannelli Go or similar exhaust. Theres a restriction in between the airfilter and carburetor, a metal plate with holes. Remove it and upjet to about 70-72 if i remember correctly. And make sure to remove the restriction in the exhaust, if there is any. Normally they have a metal ring right in the start of the manifold pipe, at the connection to the cylinder.
Service the variomatic, use about 7,5g weights.
Yes i know about this restrictions. Thank you. I drive a scooters for 10 years :) The owner that we buy the scooter say that he removed the restriction in variator and said it was going only 45km/h with it. But i think when he remove this restriction the start is very low and after that its going well to 60kmh. In my country Giannelli its not very popular. What about Leo vince TT or some Technigas ?
My NRG did 75 km/h on the GPS with the Giannelli Go and all restrictions removed. I think it's perfect for the original cylinder. The expansion pipes make too much noise for my taste, and attracts the attention of the police ;)

It's been many years, i think it was ground and pickup (red). The manual that came with it was pretty easy to follow.

Uden begrænsninger og med en udroslet udstødning, render de et godt stykke over 70 km/t.

Model is in the title. The rpm limiter is installed on the pickup line at the cdi/coil.

@@huggegustafsson1716 the RPM limiter was a noname from a danish scooter shop. I've seen them in many stores.

how to connect the limiter with scooter ?
It comes with a description. If i remember correctly, a red wire goes in-line with the red wire from the pickup (get it at the cdi/coil) and a black wire goes to the frame. Very simple to connect!

How to unrestrict my cdi? It tops out at 10,000rpm. I'm putting a stage 6 street race kit in it over the weekend so its going to be revving like mad so i want the limiter removed to get the most from it! I've seen some for sale but theyre too expensive for what they are
The original CDI's are not limited, at least in all the years i've wrenched these Piaggio models. The latest i had was from 2008, still no RPM limiter. Stage6 Streetrace will not be reving over 10.000 RPM i would think, not with usable power at least. It's a mild sport kit with good midrange. Stage6 Racing will go a past 10K, i've had the Racing MK2 with a stock ignition and there was no limiter.
You should not worry about the CDI i think!
Thank you! Mine is limited it always stopped bang on at 10,000rpm however with my new kit it hits 10,000rpm then pushes slowly to 11,000rpm so i do think the limiter is there. Maybe I'll try heavier rollers as i'm using 4.5G
