How To Make A Custom Cell Phone Case - Creating A Leather Cell Phone Holster
Вставка
- Опубліковано 26 сер 2024
- Today we are going to explore making a cell phone holster from veg-tan leather. This is an easy project to customize with other features or a different size. I will take you through the design and build steps one at a time. I will be using Weldwood contact adhesive and Tiger Ritza thread to assemble the cell phone holster. The finish on the leather cell phone case will be Neatsfoot Oil and protected by TanKote.

Nice Case!
It’s a nice easy case.
You're right! It used to be the smaller the phone the more people wanted them. This is a BIG phone! Really nice to see this project from start to finish. You do great work, Robert! The two extra stitches add strength, the oil finish brings out the beauty of the leather, the fuzzy back got knocked down perfectly with the oil. Full Stars!

Good looking cell phone case. I have made several different styles of them.
Thanks! I appreciate your feedback.
I guess you don't use that new head knife as much yet? They do nice work trimming down in place of your utility knife. Confidence will come the more you use it. Also I stopped using sheep shearling to oil with. I find a piece of white cotton T-shirt does a nicer job of oiling to not lay it on so heavy. The case came out pretty nice, great work Robert. It would have looked nice tooled with a basket weave too. I just got done with a Sheridan tooled billfold with tyvek pocket liners,
Tip with the neatsfoot oil - it absorbs faster when it's warm. If you don't keep it warm in a crock pot, you can also help it absorb better/faster with a hair dryer or heat gun. Helps the fats that are in it, spread out in the leather grain better. Just in case you didn't know. I keep a heat gun on my bench for oiling and speed drying.
Great tips. I have ordered a cutting board that is a bit harder. I have cut on top of a poundo board for a long time. When pushing it wants to dig into that board.
OLD Leather Smith here, I made mine out of Elk with a sheep lining, that eliminates any scratches and creates a pocket. No belt loops a small box with a clip on the back 2 clip 2 pants or purse, with a flap so no rain or snow in with phone. Since I use suspenders. I used Velcro as a closure at the time I have now changed 2 a button closure last longer, I slso installed conchos on the flap with a Elk lining velcroed covering screws 2 protect phone and conchos can B changed in the future. I have a few clients C what I made 4 me and I have made a few 4 them. Yes a pattern on the fly. Glue the same but there are times double sided tape works as well, I still hand stitch, there/R so many different stitches out there that seems the only thing I have changed 4 this project. Sorry 4 so loooong. GOD'S BLESSINGS ✝️🥎🙃
I really appreciate the long comment. It gets me thinking over options for future cases. The sheep lining also helps me think through an issue of needing to adjust for small changes in size as it can take up space when you have smaller phones. What are your thoughts of getting dirt in the sheep lining? How would you clean it. I guess the flap would help there.
Your right the flap does the job. This is the 3rd phone in this case no problems. I am in the process of making a new case out of a different leather, pattern on the fly. Sorry I am loooong winded. GOD'S BLESSINGS ✝️🥎🙃
👍
Thanks for watching
Very nice. Amazing that you just wing it and create your own pattern as you go. Good job
Thanks. I find this type of work fun.
Thank for taking the time to share ...neat
Crazy how big the phones are

Thanks!
Sweet.

Awesome..🙂🙂
Thanks!
Well that’s a neat thing. That would be a slick thing to hold the phone and not have it in your pocket. 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋
Yep! Headed out to someone that keeps breaking the phone in the back pocket.

Perfect
Thanks!
Snug as a bug in a rug!
Yep. It’s a nice fit
Do you sale them do you have a shop store?
I sell items at a few artisan shows during the summer. I also take custom orders based on people reaching out here or on FB messenger and email. Thanks for asking.
@@InMyBusyLittleShop ok I would like one but with the clip or belt mount in the back also one that has a strap with a button to close from the top so phone doesn't fall down it is for a galaxy s10 plus
Sorry for the slow response. I’m out of the shop currently. I can make the belt mount with a clip or a loop on the back to put a belt through. I flap would not be hard to add as well. I’m probably a couple weeks out. What color would you want? The one in the video is an oil finish.
@@InMyBusyLittleShop I would like dark brown yes that would be great a belt clip or hole to put belt from back also a top strap to secure maybe with a button or velcro to close it let me know if that's possible and can take measurements it's for a galaxy s10 plus
Yes can you send me the measurements and an idea. If be are going to use a strap to hold the phone in maybe make it a little less tight for easier removal from the case. Just thinking that maybe it would give you some flexibility to a new phone down the road. Also, to clarify you want a strap over the top and not a larger flap?
