This was the only informative video I can find on what symptoms of illness to watch for. Only videos about getting rid of smell, but nothing for after care or what happens if ingested. I’ve been worried all day after the spray incident hoping nothing bad happens like a seizure or getting poisoned.

I’ve lived in the sticks for over 12 years now and it just happened to me! It’s 4am!
It is not like when you drive through it on the highway and it gets in your car for a minute.
I never ever imagined that something this bad could happen. Zero exaggeration, this is the second worst thing to ever happen to me including personal tragedies. It’s that upsetting and traumatic. If you don’t agree then your dog wasn’t properly sprayed.
I let my Vizsla out to pee and she ran back into the house before I knew what happened. She ran everywhere, jumping on everything before I could stop her. The first hit of it made me think for a second that the power plant or whatever it is like 5 miles away had an explosion or something and made the air toxic. Then I realized what was going on. The smell was so pungent that it immediately made me start vomiting severely and I couldn’t stop. I immediately put her in the tub and did this exact mixture. It did stop most of the smell on her but not fully. I think I’m going to have to let her dry and then bath her again. I thoroughly cleaned her face and eyes but I’ll have to keep an eye on her for sure.
I’m not sure what to do about the lingering smell in my house. I threw away everything she touched including blankets, towels and my own clothes but like anyone else I have things laying around my house that I can’t tell if the smell is out of entirely. Before bed I had just done my kid’s laundry and folded piles of it on my dining room table. I can’t tell if all that is ruined or it’s just lingering in the air. After dealing with my poor buddy first, this is absolutely the second hardest part. No matter what I do I keep getting huge whiffs of it and I can’t tell from where. It’s not like I can throw away my carpets and couches. What should I do?

I seriously thought it was a gas leak in the house. We got everyone out of the house and called the fire dept

Was very helpful. Helps put a proper perspective on the situation. It can, indeed, yes to be rather emotional at a moment where the pupper or dogo is uh..."deterred" from the area. Glad also, the tomato myth was absolutely addressed here. Again. Thank you.

Our dog got sprayed in the face after trying to grab a skunk in our yard. He came running through the doggie door straight against my legs. Luckily the odor of a skunk is not offensive to me. But our dog was not impressed with the black and white interlude. 😅

Thank you, my molly got sprayed in the face two nights ago @ 2:30am. I’ve been using peroxide, baking soda, and dawn. She is feeling fine now, but she stinks still.

Tomato juice neautralizes the odor within minutes. I always keep a large can on hand.
