Took the plunge today and installed a Ceet seat cover on my DR350. This is THE tutorial for recovering a seat. I watched at least five others and this is far and away the best. Beg, borrow or buy a powered stapler, a hand stapler might be OK for a seasoned pro but as a first time installer without power I would have butchered it. Thanks again Cameron, your videos are excellent!
Great video! The best thing I learned was to put the new cover in the clothes dryer for about 5 minutes before installation. That made all the difference!
CAMERON. YO!!! I listened to your advice and followed the video, watched it over and over again. This turned out looking better than new. I'm so STOKED. THANKS.
I like to leave the seat foam out in the hot sun and put the cover on it loose and let the sun warm it up so the cover starts to take shape before i start to staple. The foam will hold heat for a while which helps
I just did a seat cover on my 2018 Husqvarna TC 250 and used the same staple gun. Just press it firmly to the seat and the staples go in just fine. The seat cover looks good.
If it's hot out, I put the seat cover in the car with the windows up. Lay it out flat so the wrinkles flatten out. I also keep a heat gun close to help warm thing up while installing, just to keep the cover nice n warm
i must take the time to thank you, on behalf of my self and of the community, for this content. ... I still am not confident to proceed using a hand stapler but a heavy-duty electric stapler should, pretty much, pay for itself, on the first job.
Just went down on my KTM in a nest of scrub trees climbing a hill. A broken branch stub grabbed my seat cover and tore it in half :-[ Will be using this video to install new one. Thx. for great tips!
i sewed together my own seat cover from material i found. its not stretchy though so it has to be a perfect fit. its not. not really anyway. i wouldnt mind, but i am now midway through completely rebuilding the bike and my diy seat cover is now the weak link. but im too cheap to replace it, lol. i have yet to staple it on. maybe a heat gun will help me stretch it to remove wrinkles. or some more sewing to get it more dialed. eh.
ahh bro, you have the exact same seat cover as i put on my old kx 125... was a terrible cover, hard to stretch over, and always had a couple of creases no matter what i did! was terrible..
i actually love re-covering seats! it makes such a big difference in how they look. go from zero to hero with a $30 of vinyl! awesome. The trick to the staple gun is doing it on a VERY HARD not-squishy surface. if you're just pushing on the seat in the air, it isn't going to go in straight. i use a little metal donut (1/2" id) i had as a cut-off from my lathe.
Hey, i am new on your channel and im really enjoying your videos, especially the xr70 teardown series. Right now im rebuilding a 1992 ktm 80, and some parts are really bad, so im trying to look online for new or used parts but without luck. i checked out your webpage and noticed you dont sell ktm parts, why not? And do you now a good page i could find new/old KTM parts?
I still suck at it. I cant do it. I try and I’m never able too. I bought a FLU designs one and I even let it sit under a heat lamp. And I just can’t do it
If there's one thing you don't like about working on bikes, what is it?
Any electric works... :/
Cameron Niemela kx 125 transmission as it’s a pain to put back in the cases but eventually i get it back lol 😂
When you spent hours cleaning off old gasket, and you get it back together, and it leaks oil from the side cover despite the work and new gasket
Cameron Niemela, there isn't really anything i dislike, but changing plugs on my R1 certainly isn't my favourite time.
everything if it is the second or third time over. yea.. i am actually that good!
If you consider yourself terrible with seat covers I must be absolutely horrific with them
Yeah me too now!
Boy you need to change that title. That cover looks perfect
He’s talking abt ruining them
Cameron, you did a great job. This is something that I CANT DO.

That is a good idea! I'll have to give that a shot on the next one

Thanks Jim! Happy to have helped
Looks way better with black seat cover 👌
I like to leave the seat foam out in the hot sun and put the cover on it loose and let the sun warm it up so the cover starts to take shape before i start to staple. The foam will hold heat for a while which helps
5 yrs later gonna use this smart tip when installing my cover lol thanks

Glad to see this video.. I've got to replace the seat cover on my antique... A 1977 IT400.

Looks great...and you right...its all about patience with seat covers.
Always put a like on your vids before I Watch as I no it will great content as always keep up the great work bud.
My staples weren’t sticking in the seat like yours, I turned up the PSI a tiny bit on the air compressor and it worked fine
Getting inside most anything. Cases, carb etc. Something I just need to get over and do it.
Dude your videos are inspirational. Keep up the damn great videos. DON'T STOP PLEASE.
surprised no one says in the comments how much you look like Macaulay Culkin
I just paid the upholsterer 45 bucks he added some foam and man that looks good money well spent I would have had it crooked
I put my new seat cover over my old cover without taking it off, extra waterproof protection, works like a charm!
Great instructions as always, very confidence inspiring.
Looks good to me. Don't sell yourself short!

Wonderful format man! Really appreciated, thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Putting something under the seat to stop it from flexing when it's upside down, like a block or something will help.
Great vid mate .that ttr looks almost brand new since u hav owned it.
Man I could of used that old cover! Lol
thanks! exactly what i needed to know.
Got a cover coming in and thought I'd watch a master...lol
Great video mate, thanks👍
Nice job man. I hate upholstery too.

Do you ever shave your seats cameron not for freestyle but for motocross? And if so does it help?
If the bike is too tall it definitely helps! I've never shaved a seat myself though
Do you have any extra seats for cr250 my seat bracket broke and i cant find any seat brackets on the internet for a 1999
seat covers :D i always let my step brother do it he is realy good at it
Same situation here, he's got a ton of vintage bikes, hence, much more practice.
Looks really nice👌👌

I still suck at it. I cant do it. I try and I’m never able too. I bought a FLU designs one and I even let it sit under a heat lamp. And I just can’t do it
Ha ha did a seat cover 3 weeks ago..
Was that a seat cover specifically for a try or a universal One? Need a new one for my bike but I can't get one anywhere
This one was specific to the bike. eBay has a good selection of covers

Hey cam what is the best stapler to use so i can change my seat cover
I use a cheap harbor freight pneumatic one
Cameron Niemela thanks brother can you send me a link to your web so I can look for some parts that I may need for my cr125
You really should change name of this video to somethig like «how to change seatcover»
calls video "I am terrible with seat covers", proceeds to do a god damn near perfect job on his seat cover....
Striped out bolts is my least favorite part...
i'm portoguese :)
