@@paulj0557tonehead I read this as because this is so good I now hate everything haha but I think you meant your standards are high because you usually hate stuff.
this is quintessential jockstrap. amazing production, transcendent vocals, cool lo-fi switchup, and honestly just a lot of fun. Cannot wait for the album
She’s got that Regina Spektor vibe to her voice. I love it. Very refreshing that voice with all the electronic and analog change ups. This is beautiful.
Honestly, you are probably one of the most exciting Art Pop groups ive heard in a while. This song was beyond exquisite, it was cosmic, elegant, and textural with Georgia Ellery channelling a touch of Bowie and Kate Bush; "The woman who fell to earth" Utterly sublime on every level👌
Surprised she didn’t take over for Issac, that would have been cool if they had brought Jockstrap and BCNR together if magic was possible. Maybe she prefers writing her own stuff for jockstrap rather than collaborating with six people to keep things fresh in both directions. It’s funny - I’m a big BCNR fan, but I found out about Jockstrap from a black midi interview - at one point Georgie said “thank god we have Jockstrap.”
@@natnar6181 not off the top of my head……. It was a music press article, begins with them going out on a boat with the interviewer somewhere then going for food afterwards….. it’s a “Hellfire” release interview shouldn’t be too hard to find by way of Google.
Complexity + structure + imagination/experimentation is what defines jockstraps music in my opinion, they make music in a way I’ve never heard before and it’s really inspiring
Each of their songs are like a rhapsody, there's always a certain progression in moods across different genres. Only way I could describe it. Honestly really cool!
I mean I'd agree but they certainly take influence from a variety of artists; at one point they screamed JPEGMAFIA mixed with a bit of Kero Kero Bonito.
I'm here now, listening and seeing this song/band for the first time because I'm watching Blur To The End, a documentary that came out this year, about Blur doing a concert on Wembley, and Damon Albarn mentions that he was going to see this band live, before they stepped up. I'm liking this! I'll listen to and dig up more stuff about you guys, for sure!
Those vocals are simply gorgeous! I really hope to hear more of them. Carries the same emotional resonance as the vocals of Hannah from London Grammar, but much higher in pitch.
I was so unsure about how I felt about this song but it crept inside my head and lives there rent free now. Jam of the summer along with Sad Girls Luv Money for me
Absolutely in love with this song. Can't get it out of my head. Has a similar emotion and wonderment as The Glow pt 2 and Universe by The Microphones and, like them, just as it reaches what feels like the peak it takes it up another notch. Love it. Absolute masterpiece. I hope they do more like this one.
This song is absolutely brilliant. I listened to it on repeat during a really bad breakup when it first came out, so I havent fully revisted it until now. But now its infused with such a wealth of feelings and emotions that compliments the song completely. Its interesting to be able to time travel back to that state just by listening to this. Not necessarily a "good" feeling, but very cathartic and somewhat nostalgic (if you can be nostalgic for 2 years ago).
I literally just discovered you from Fantano's weekly track Roundup and I wanted to hear what he thought about Lizzo and you were right after and then he said y'all's track was amazing so I said why not check it out and oh my gosh he was not wrong. This was absolutely fantastic I loved every single moment of it like just awesome. It almost gave me like Adventure Time Vibes like music that would be featured in adventure time but just elevated to a higher level this was amazing. It was so theatrical yet at the same time unique. And I absolutely loved the mixing
Concrete over water to me describes a good memory with someone that you want to keep forever, while the river of time washes everything else away. I don’t know what the original sentiment of the song was, but that’s what it means to me.
Such a beautiful and charming sound, that resembles everything and at the same time is absolutely unique. It must be the best thing I found in a long time. Thank you.
You're just so good. I love how the production flickers between really close live piano in a small room through to like.. Club anthem. And the motifs in your music, lyrically, melodically. You just have it all! Incredible technicality and craft, experimentation, emotion. And theatricality too 🎭💜🎶✨
Jockstrap has for a while been one of those things I really want to like and have tried to like but couldn’t get into it- nevertheless acknowledging the talent/merit of the music. But THIS… Absolute masterpiece. Fantastic work.
You guys are great! I always show your music to everyone I know because I know you'll be big with this incredibly good music. The production is so clean and Georgia's voice is magical!
I've had this song on repeat so many times over the last year. Never thought to watch the video until now. Wasn't expecting it to be like this. It's bizarre, but I think I like it.
""Oh, a night On what bridge we stood Concrete over water I think you remind me of the night But also of the day I think of Italy, champagne I think of Spain"" love the lyrics and the surrealism of your music
@Athenss I mean I read somewhere that their first EP was about that quite literally. I'm curious what would they do if they made songs about more things tho
You guys should be proud of this one.

I just heard this on 6 music and thought it was Regina Spektor. But delighted to find another artist with unusual qualities.
2 birdsss on a wireeeeee 🐦 🐦
True
Yeah electro Regina Spektor
I dug through my music collection trying to find that uncanny similarity with another voice I recognise - it was Regina Spektor.
WOW! The switchup to the "bedroom" sound is insanely well executed! Makes the moment feel very intimate!

I’m 50. Been through house and music since the 80’s. This is without doubt a superbly produced track…love the vocal. Love the uplift. Perfect🔥

I didn't realize she was the violinist for Black Country, New Road. She's Astonishing!!
Just figured this out now after seeing BCNR live.
crazy how she’s in two of the best bands ever

What a beautiful song. Instant classic. Pop does not get better than this.
never felt so entranced by a song especially on a first listen. This could've gone on forever and I'd be sitting here listening till the end.

It’s got a similar vocal line to The City - kinda calls back to it in the first verse too. I wonder if it’s connected in any way?
