Back in the late 1950's/early 60's my family had a Beach Shack we used often for fishing holidays. When we returned to the town Dad always parked on our lawn. It was the boys job to spray water until the car was free of salt Under and over. Our car had no rust.
Oh man, too short. Love how you put your blunders in too. It is encouraging to see that others have to stop mid-project to fix something they had no intention of working on. Seems to happen to me all the time.
I been fluid filming my vehicles for a long time. Stuff is great and really works. Helps if u warm it up. Put it in front of a torpedo heater or etc. the I made a pvc valve setup that goes through the lid to get it into the small jugs. Works excellent. I also mix my fluid film with grease and used motor oil. And mix it same as u did with a paint mixer. It is literally the best coating ever. Absolutely zero rust on anything. Don’t forget to get all your body panels, rockers, fill everything.
Cedarstrip 14 Usually cars have zinc coating on metal so no need for extra coating. Also most cars are just made to sell, not to last. In the Mitsubishi that kind of structure can't last.
Andrew you rock. I learn a lot from you and am inspired by your "get it done" attitude. I'd like to see a lot more of your videos so please think safety such as wearing a mask when spraying a chemical and using a backup whenever crawling under something. Thanks again!
Fluid film cost but it does work! I've seen a test against about 10 other products and the fluid film came out the best! It soaks into the steel and stops the rust! The lift really helps! I pop all the plastic plugs at the doors/rocker panel etc. and spray the insides of everything! If there is no plugs drill hole then plug! They are cheap!
Good piece of kit to have. You can get it from Supercheap Auto. Just wait for the xmas sales to start. www.supercheapauto.co.nz/p/toolpro-toolpro-pressure-washer-attachment---turbo-nozzle/370466.html

Hey Andrew, just FYI but a bed liner spray gun works great for spraying the fluid film. I didn't even bother pouring it into the containers, I took a vinyl hose, stuck it on the end of the pipe that sticks down into the container of paint and then just stick that in the bucket of fluid film. It'll suck it straight out of the bucket and the bed liner spray gun puts it on a lot thicker so you don't have to do multiple passes.
I bet there's a lot of rust under those aftermarket fender flares. A lot of guys with put those on right before they sell the truck to cover the rust up. Dodge never offered factory flares for that truck so they are definitely aftermarket. I had a 2005 that I bought new, even those Ram Daytona's with the wing on the back and the stupid ground kit didn't come with fender flares.
Same here on my 05 Cummins. Make sure you check that they're still attached mine rusted through and went flying down the road good thing no one was behind me. I don't know why people put them on unless you have wider tires on they just look like crap. Least that's what I think
@@Klldozr People put them on to cover the rust so they can get an inspection sticker. Any older stock truck without a lift or bigger tires you know there on there just to hide rust.
So I'm commenting before I finish watching with a couple tips. Get a suction gun, like a giant syringe, to transfer the stuff into your spray gun. Also, for those Dodge beds, pull the tail lights and spray up into the bed side. Pay close attention to cleaning and spraying out the nooks and crannies above the rear wheels. Fluid film is great stuff!
I assume that undercoating is Lanolin-based. Lanolin is natural sheep’s-wool grease. We used it in Australia on Fertiliser-spreading trucks and it works brilliantly. Superphosphate and Lime are highly corrosive on machinery and Lanolin is really the only thing that works. Every season we would pull the trucks completely to bits and liberally coat every surface with it - even down to under the suspension brackets and inside the wheel rims.
Tectyl 506 is a good anti-rust compound. Nothing against F-F but it does not resist wash-off at all and will attack existing conventional undercoatings, some rubber and soft plastic items.
It easy for me to tell I'm back in NY when I start seeing the telltale rusty cars and trucks driving by me on the thruway. NY must use xtra strength salt on their roads or apply it 10 months outta 12...lol

I have a 1985 Ford Van that was undercoated and treated with a rust inhibitor back when it was new, and it doesn't have any rust, but it should be treated again. I see almost brand new vehicles totally ate out by rust. You would think the auto makers could do better after all this time, but then again people don't keep vehicles very long and the auto makers want them to break down and rust out so they can sell you more.
