Climbing with my favorite climber sophia! She's been working on her weakness (compression) and has been progressing like no other! I'm so proud of her :)

She has also sent a V6 outdoors too! Looking forward to see sophia's future sends 🙌
That would be a cool video to watch.
IDK who needs to hear this, but it's worth pointing out every time I see a "Vx climber in y years" video: comparison is the thief of joy. Whether you're above, at, or below Sophia's timeline, it shouldn't -- it doesn't -- matter to you. Not even as a guideline. She's on her own climbing journey, and you're on yours.
I definitely needed to hear this 😅 thank you.
Yeah it’s different for everyone, I managed to climb a v4 within a week however my brother took a month to climb a v2
Biggest annoyance is that video like this are giving an impressive but reasonable timeline for progress but there are so many content creators who have been climbing for a year or less convinced they climb V5 or V6 then post videos of them climbing wrongly graded V3’s. Seems people feel they need to be at a higher grade as quickly as possible. It’s meant to take years to get good at climbing, people who are climbing V8+ after a year or two are very rare
@@IMTURTLE92yeah, grading inconsistencies make these comparisons useless.
I also don't like when people measure in months or years. 3 years climbing recreationally is way different than 3 years climbing with consistent training.
I’ve been climbing for 2.5 yrs and just hit my first V6. So happy to be getting stronger. V17 here I come.
Way to goooo! Congrats brotha!
I've been climbing for more than 10 and V6 is still my fav indoor grade. It's the sweet spot for setters for some reason.
😜😜
How often do you go climbing? And did you take a big break?
@@johnmcho v6 is cursed in my gym lmao, the setters always seem to set absolute nails at that grade.
Congrats Sophia on the incredible progress!
Thank you!!🙏🙏🙏
Love to see a realistic progression video. Refreshing change from the "Climbing v9 after 3 months, is that good?" stuff you see on social media.
the main issue is definitely just differences in starting point/training volume/luck
my roommate is climbing estsblished v10 outside routes after 2 years, but he was apparently strong enough to do stuff like 1 arm lockoffs from the beginning, his fitness was on point from the beginning.
I was about 20 pounds over my healthy weight and could barely do a pull up, now I lost 30 pounds from the max, gained back 15 as mostly muscle, and climb v5-6 in 2 years.
Both of us were lucky to have time to train and access to gyms/outdoor rock, so it's still never gonna be comparable with people higher or lower vGrade to time ratios.
YAY SOPHIA!!!
I loooove that you help eachother!! That's an awesome relationship!! Hope to see you both growing more and more!!
Thank you, much love!
Congrats Sophia! What a progress!
Siiiiiiick send👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥 What an awesome accomplishment!!!! I’m working on breaking into V6 and you guys have gotten me super stoked to get on my projects😄
Hope you send your project! 🙌
Sophia's so funny lmao. Also insane that she can do outdoor V5 but only has 2 indoor V6's, y'all's gym seems tough! Really puts it into perspective
I think depending on your strengths, outdoor could be not “waaay harder” than indoor. Especially if you have strong fingers for the grade and are good on small holds.
LOL for the longest time I’ve done more 5/6s outdoors than indoors 😅 this gym is probably the toughest I’ve ever been to but it makes us stronger!
@@soccutd77 also, i heard at a certain grade, indoor starts becoming harder than outdoor, though i believe that's like v8 and up.
When I got my first V6 (about 3 weeks ago) I was super hyped and it felt like a massive accomplishment for me, now I've just been looking for another one that's my style and do-able for me
Congrats on your first V6! 🔥
I found climbing 2015 at age 31. Before that I tried to become a good surfer, but living in northern Sweden, that was pretty doomed to fail. I can somtimes feel a sorrow I didn't find it earlier, because now it's what I care most about outside of family. It's been slow progress over the years, I don't have a climbing gym where I live.. so winters have been all about regression, and then reprogress outside during summer. Starting a family and building a house hasn't exactly freed up time either.. These last few years I've been taking trips during winter to keep strength for the outdoor season. Last year I sent my first V8 at the local crag and now I'm a few moves away from my first V9. I'm still improving at 39 years! I don't feel nearly done at all, but I'm kindof dreading the day when I realise my peak is in the past.. I hope and think I can keep the same love for climbing then.
I'm also currently projecting to open a climbing gym where I live and looking to make it my career.
So yeah, I also love climbing.
Thank you for sharing your journey. This is really inspiring to me as I took up climbing in 2019 at the age of 24 and have just starting ticking off multiple V7s this year at this lovely limestone crag in the UK. I'm happy with my own progress but as I approach the age of 30 I have been worrying more and more that "maybe I started climbing too late" and "ill probably never climb anything beyond 7B/V8 because of this"
It's lovely to hear that just because some people start climbing in their adult years, it does not mean that they cannot climb hard and have a consistent progression in their technical and strength abilities.
@@SelcraigClimbs I m 41 and stated climbing 7 month ago. Have not tried outdoor climbing but already climb a lot of indoor V7 in different gyms. I think it is possible to progress about 10 more years, but I will hit plateau much earlier
Thanks for sharing your journey! I started climbing at age 30 and all I can think about is how grateful I'm to have found my passion for climbing. We're lucky to have found it and from here on we get to enjoy it and continue to do our best no matter what. Wishing you all your best in your journey opening a climbing gym and getting better at climbing :)
Congrats on your V8 send.. seems like v9 is around the corner 💪🔥
It's been great to see how Sophia has progressed in your videos, really inspiring!! :). Congrats on the send 🥳
Thank you so much!!
hell yeah Sophia!!!
Wow the setting at your gym is so cool!
Sofia be CRUSHING :)
I know right! She’s unstoppable 🔥
Waw well done Sophia!! I was cheering at the screen. You did so good! Congrats on your first V6! 👏
Thank you!!
Always so happy to see Sophia climbing, told me keep the passion in climbing. Congratulation your amazing climbing journey key milestone and thanks your sharing. 🎉🎉🎉
really fun video, thanks both of you :) (and sophia, totally agree about getting nervous on the send go even when you have all the moves)
The pressure is on for the full send go! 😅😅
Yessss! Congrats, Sophia! So strong 🎉
well done Sophia
Woohoo 🤘 Congrats, Sophia. Couple climbs together-Phos together. 😆 Great complimentary love of each other and mutual love of climbing. Way to go you two. ❤ Oh, and I love climbing too for for so many reasons, but mostly to enjoy moments like these with phenomenal people in our community-like you two. 😊
Aaaww thank you Jon! You’re the best 🙌
Super sweet video, keep it up!
So proud of you, Sophia!!!
Sophia has gotten so much stronger! I hope I can be as strong as her someday! 🥲 Love that she’s a fellow static climber! ❤
Yess!! Static for the win! And thank you!!
I'm more the dynamic type... I'm not that flexible.
.
I love the couples video but really all your videos smack so you're chilling every time!
I love climbing my dudes! Love the video as well!
Wooow!! Sophia has come such a long way 🎉 👏
Awesome video 🎉
i love watching Sophia climb! this is such an inspiration to me, my boyfriend is a really strong climber, meanwhile I’m working on V4s since I’ve only been climbing for about a year; I so badly want to get to the point where I can give beta and we can work on the same project together like this! it looks like so much fun 🥹 sometimes i feel like I’ll never get there but watching Sophia reminds me that with hard work and persistence, maybe i can get there too one day. thanks for making this video ☺️
You’ll be surprised how far you can get when you’re consistent! You can definitely do it too 🙌
Looks like such a fun climb!
I think I’m at the same progression. Just under 3 years for me and I have done a handful of v6s
Dooooooppppeee! Awesome to see you both crushing but especially Sofia! Even more psyched to see the outdoor V6 tho... ;)
Thank you Justin, hope you’re doing good and sending like no other! 💪
They’re coming soon hopefully 🥲🥲
@@sophiachalks I know they are!! 💪
Sophia's got the most infectious smile and enthusiasm, such a joy to watch her climb and laugh!
Getting same feeling with my son, he recently got his first V6, I am proud of his progress for sure but the best is to see his smile and his new addiction for climbing, soon he will be better than me and it will be just perfect.
I like you both a lot! And congrats Sophia!
I just wish the titles of the videos here in Rockentry reflected more what it was going to be about. I kinda was expecting a video about the journey from v0 to v6, (struggles, reflections, before and after, whatever) not just a regular climbing video, that is still cool, just wish I knew it beforehand.
Thanks for the feedback! A progression video will be made in the near future.
@@rockentry Nice!!! Looking foward! =)
She said : I'm just gonna feel it!! Thats the way I like to climb, no need for beta, just feel it
i love climbing!! 🤙🤙
Hope she got that pho! Good job!
We’ve been getting pho this whole week!’ 😂😂
Yesss, I sure do love climbing - aaand, your content aswell ❤ cheers from switzerland!
Much love! Thank you 🙏
Climbing is ❤
awesome, that's like me... It's tricky to find the time for that progression imo. My younger brother though who is on sick pension and no family went from v0 to V8/9 in less than a year but he is a frigging savant heh. Gonna view the video later with my kids! Keep up the great work 🙏👍👌
It’s all about enjoying the process and eventually you’ll get there. We all have our different situations and will progress differently. Just keep at it and enjoy the climbs.
Climbing is great!
This video is deep
Dude, this video is awsome. It has some old Rockentry video vibes and I love it (By the way, I hate climbing).
😂😂😂😂 then why are you watching?? LOL jk
@@sophiachalks because I wanted to post some hate comment but turned out that I loved this video 🤣
hahaha glad you liked it! ;)
What do you think is hindering your progression the most? And do you sometimes try V7 and V8?
I love climbing, so I'm leaving a comment down below
✍️✍️✍️ get that dress soph is wearing because I too will climb in a dress
It’s honestly so fun and flowy and lowkey empowering 🥲
What time did you film this video? The gym looks quite empty
We like to climb pretty late :) lucky for us we have a 24/7 gym
I just did my first v5 after climbing for 2 months hopefully on day I’ll reach v6
Sounds like you’ll get there soon 💪
Congrats! You’re on your way 🙌
Wait am i insane? I've been climbing for about 4months now and just got my first hard v6 training 4 days a week.
Sophia is so strong! Hope y'all celebrated with some pho afterward LOL
I’ve been climbing for like 6 months and have done v6s in multiple gyms…
🗽 Looks like a nice boulder problem. But flexiblitiy is not my strength.
.
So your not supposed to hit v5-v6 in a month?
dont take this the wrong way but ive beed climbing for 4 months and I climb up to a 7a so V6.
but dont take it the wrong way
are you sure it wasn't a v4 marked as a 6 because the gym is soft?
I did that in 8 months
Rock climbing is a sport of supporting others 🙏 everyone progresses at their own speed
@@friedpuppy_6524 Very true. That is one of the nicest parts of rock climbing: the supportive community. The competition is with yourself, not others.
I’ve just started climbing a month and 2 weeks ago I go basically every day the gym being very close makes it easy. So far I’ve climbed V3 and 5.10A my progress has been insane but I feel my passion for the sport is my biggest advantage! All I want to do is climb 🤣
I’m working on a V4 now I’m stuck on the last hold hopefully next time I tune in I’ve done it!
I have to drive like 25min to the nearest gyms. When I‘m in my appartment through the week, where I study, like 15min. I go once a week in each gym, so two times. I would go more often, when it would be more nearby and only one gym, so I could buy a yearly abo :/
@@einSeev My gyms about the same but I have a lot of free time since my job is very easy. I also don’t really do much or have many friends in the area so going to the gym is a must for me. I climb 5-6 times out of the week but it’s really for my mental sake.
I love this but the unskippable ad on this was a trailer for a horror movie now i won't sleep for a week because i am a mega wimp 🥲
