Wonder if the chickens have a heat lamp and a heater to keep their water from freezing? I know I worry too much and I'm certain they are well taken care of without a doubt. It's the "chicken wing area" that I was concerned about LOL

Karkady (other spellings are available) makes excellent tea to be drunk hot or cold. I can never remember which way round it is but, according to Egyptians either hot or cold is good for heart health, and vice versa for kidney healh. Drunk either way, it is refreshing. If you need to give a bit of sweetness and body, if possible use honey - although Egyptians will use spoonfuls of sugar.
Love your beautiful scarf Stephanie, and you wear it so elegantly, as always. The chickens are adorable! I work for a pet chicken company. They won't usually lay during the winter or lay much less, their hormones and laying cycle are controlled by the amount of light they receive so in the winter when the days are shorter they usually stop laying.
In nature this prevents them from having chicks when it is too cold to raise them safely! Nature is so amazing.
Also they do amazing in cold. I have no extra heat for my flock and we just went through a -51⁰c cold snap. I just add straw in the coop instead of just shaving and they are snuggly warm! They were even out running and playing in the cold snow!

(Maybe you haven’t heard of that dish… or the many jokes that go with it… not sure if it’s American.)
Your video answered a crumpet question I’ve had, and in return I’d like to offer solutions for two for you (blue cake and another scarf dress option).
* Crumpets: Ah, now I finally know what they are when I read, “and they sat down for some tea and crumpets.” In the US, we call them English Muffins… which makes no sense, because what we call muffins are absolutely different, plus we have nothing we call crumpets. 🤣 The mysteries of the evolution of a language after revolution. 🙂
* Scarf Dress: This one first, as it’s shorter. You may know this one, I know you were dashing to a party and had your lovely ’doo… but just in case. Start as you did wrapping around the back, but (if they’re long enough , instead of typing in front, overlap the ends and pull them up around the back of the neck and tie them there. This method overlaps the front to make it more like a dress than a robe, has less bulk in front - more flattering for many, and (depending on scarf size) avoids the possible chance of scarf corners trailing in soup, etc.
* Pink Cake is Blue: I actually know this one from experience. 😁 Short answer, the naturally occurring chemical in the hibiscus leaves which initially turned the cake batter a lovely pink, reacted with the baking soda in the cake, and turned it from pink to blue. If baking powder was used rather than soda, baking powder is made of 2 parts cream of tarter and 1 part baking soda. Note: C of T (a powder) doesn’t expire, and BS lasts for ages, so it’s a handy substitution for those like me who are stuck with expired baking powder too often, or run out at an unexpected moment.
How I know from experience: I have a few nieces who were artificial food coloring intolerant as kids (as was my brother, though only one of the nieces was his), so I spent years decorating birthday cakes trying to come up with solutions for, as an example, “a Tardis birthday cake.” In that case, the solution was boiled red cabbage (boiled for a set number of minutes to catch the color), reduced, and mixed with baking soda. It went from a gorgeous ruby red (pink when mixed with white frosting) to a lovely deep blue, though it took a little while for the chemical reaction to take place, and naturally you wanted to use the minimum required so the frosting was edible.
🤣 Unfortunately, after several more hours it reacted with an anti-clumping agent in powdered sugar that turned the beautiful blue to a beautiful teal… which would have been fine if it weren’t a Tardis. 🤣
But luckily I had taken a photo of the cake before it turned teal, so my niece could see it as it started. And she’s a sweet kid, so wasn’t upset.
- For anyone reading this and needing natural blue frosting, an important note: Don’t fret, you can make your own powdered sugar in a food processor or blender. If you make it ahead of time, you should sift and re-process the clumps, but it’s should be all sugar, or at least less clumping agent (read your sugar package). Sub-note: I did make home-made powdered sugar last year when it couldn’t be found in stores (and since too),, but I haven’t tested it with the blue… home made natural food coloring has a very little shelf life - like soup in the fridge - and the kids are all drown up now and care more about what’s in the cake. 😁 But I’m guessing granulated sugar, if it needs/uses any, uses less.

Hum, Stephanie’s video even brings a fairy tale into the mix this time. When talking to Nick about the leaning tree she mentions a childhood story called Chicken Licken. I thought to myself she must have misspoken because it’s actually Chicken Little. Well lo and behold, that’s the title of the American version. A British version is indeed Chicken Licken. There’s even a Scottish version titled Henny Penny. Unfortunately for the chicken, by any name, and her barnyard friends, it was the fox who ate all the evidence. As for the sky falling, I guess that so far no news is good news.
I thought the same. In Canada it’s Chicken Little. I loved that story as a child😄🇨🇦

graduation from high school in 1989 near Seattle Washington, at prom night, it was raining, and the girls with big 80's hair, ... their hair was "destroyed" by the rain, and they were absolutely miserable. pictures taken, and we today look at the pictures and think they look fine, though they were supposed to have big 80's hair. seeing Stephanie lose her beautiful curls because of the rain reminds me of what tragically happens to 80's style big hair.
Friday 5pm is -4 degrees Fahrenheit & -27 degrees Fahrenheit wind chill in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania USA; snow & ice storm, very cold. Friday early morning, the electric went out for a few hours, no gas furnace heat in apartment house, fully clothed in bed. i had a tug of war with the car door to get it open.
In the US she is called Chicken Little. Children’s librarian here.
