- Genesis Philanthropy Group and Studio Namedni present a documentary trilogy about the phenomenon of Russian Jews - in Russia and beyond. Author and narrator: Leonid Parfenov. Director: Sergey Nurmamed.
The first film of the trilogy by famous Russian journalist and TV host Leonid Parfenov tells the story of the Jewish people across Russian empire, their traditional way of life in Russia and their entering into the society at large, about famous bankers, scientists and artists reshaping their attitude to the rites of their ancestry.
It is the story about the Russian word “pogrom” entering foreign dictionaries, about the Beylis Case and about the first wave of Jewish emigration. It is about the revolutionaries who shattered the Tsarist regime and changed the fate of the country in October 1917.
The next two films of the trilogy will cover the more recent pages of the Russian Jews’ story and their self-identification.

This was the area my late grandmother came from. First fleeing pogroms migrating to Manchester England and finally moving to Los Angeles California where she passed.

I believe many Jews despite the Pogroms, were very anxious to be Viewed as Russian Jews, and felt an attraction to Russia and its people, and whether you like it or not Russia produced some of the greatest Jews in all of the world..most talented and driven people....I would like to see a Russia where Jewish and Christians can be brothers of Russia, united to make Russia great.again.

Ah Russia ..History ..This film using so much reanimated actual photography and film achive from the time is suitable for all ages, is to me , an informative production well done !

Note We get out easy though ..after this period comes 2nd ww not featured in this particular reenacted documentary ... no matter who does what to whom ..nationalism, religion, human culture tribalism , continue forever cause so much harm , with straight out human hatred of those choosing to have different beliefs and ways . If so many of you viewers hate Jews ..why watch a history documentary about Jewish life in Russia?
Well clearly the events some of those Jewish people were involved in were political. IE they were about affecting other people. Therefore millions of other people were affected. In the early Lenin years up to 1924 millions of Russians were murdered or starved to death. So the way millions of people were affected was, in a very serious way. Millions may hate Germans but as events affected millions of non-Germans, millions therefore view documentaries about Germans.

The sudden arrival of the Marxist Lenin from Switzerland high jacked the bread protests and turned the mass movement in to a movement to topple the Tsar as establish a Marxist Communist Socialist State. Very much like the Tate-LaBianca murders in Los Angeles by the Manson family. The murders were committed in an attempt to cause race hate between people who were not directly involved. The Manson Family tried to implicate those others as if to say they did it. When in fact they did not do it, it was done by a group trying to make it look like others did it. So as with the Protocols. They were published by a group who wanted to implicate a group they themselves did not like and so they made out the awful protocols to supposedly look as if those Jews had written them when in fact they had not. So there is the travesty. But it is known of. So unless they are of relevance my guess is they needed no mention. As spreading false rumours or false hate was not the intention of the video.

To me it seems like a very neutral film about Jews, who stopped being ones and started participating in the Russian / world society.

I suppose the film is targeting Russian people with Jewish origins to remind them of their heritage and get them to Israel. You can check out the Genesis philanthropy Group to see for yourself.

Amazingly twisted! First off all, the Jews in Russia are of Khazars' origin who have accepted Judaism. It is partially right that Russians came to Jews, not Jews to Russia. Before the Vikings ("Ross", "Russ"), Khazars occupied an enormous territory between Volga and Dnepr. (But before Khazars, the Bulgars were whom the Khazars overcame and took their territories.) After Vikings have ruined the Khazars' (so called Jews) capital Itil (on the Caspian sea), the Khazars went westwards, and found shelter mainly in Poland. Actually i’m jewish from Israel. I’ve never seen a Russian who prays or keeps kosher / reads the Torah. And many more things. Idk about the Russian jews but we aren’t Khazars.
