Beatrice Rana plays Chopin: 12 Études, Op. 25: No. 11 in A Minor ("Winter Wind")

  • Beatrice Rana describes the final three Études of Chopin's Op. 25 as "emotionally agonising, as if reflecting a cry of desperation from the composer." Discover her album devoted to this composer: w.lnk.to/brcLY
    "It is often written that each of the Études in Chopin’s Op. 25 collection, composed in the mid-1830s, is a self-standing piece of music. However, to me they seem implicitly connected, joined by a single line of expression, as if they are taking you on a journey." - Beatrice Rana

    I've heard dozens of versions of this Étude, and I've never seen such grace with dynamics and technique blended together with personal impression and feeling. Also, She managed to bring it down to a more graceful and less urgent and dramatic version of it and it is so good. I wish I had the chance of learning how to improve my piano dynamics with her. She is simply amazing.

    It is easily my prefered piano composition, it is so beautiful that almost makes me cry. So well composed and so well played, so much energy completely under control, letting it go and restraining it as needed. What a feeling.

      @Andrea-hm1ix 3 місяці тому

      A suo modo accademica, tanto da risultare monotona purtroppo.
      Tutto troppo equilibrato e perfetto, insomma niente a che vedere con i grandi pianisti del passato più grezzi, pazzerelli e passionali.

    Beatrice Rana mi piaceva di più quando era in competizione, osava di più, forse sotto pressione veniva fuori il meglio... ora è tutto molto perfetto, ben suonato, tutto fin troppo equilibrato, ma la trovo molto monotona, non sento quella capacità di saper "cantare" che avevano/hanno i miei pianisti preferiti che erano/sono sì virtuosi, ma anche grezzi, passionali e pazzerelli (vedi Argerich, Horowitz, Elisso Virsaladze, Sviatoslav Richter, Emil Gilels). Per carità sto confrontando con mostri sacri, ma stiamo parlando di un'artista di alto livello, che ormai ha 30 anni non più 20, mi aspettavo francamente un evoluzione migliore... invece è tutto molto piatto, manca la genialità e manca una propria personalità distintiva. E' lo spartito suonato a perfezione, con facilità e basta.
    Anche la dinamica che usa in questo studio, non la trovo confacente a uno studio, ma più a un notturno, cioè non capisco la scelta di rallentare come per pensare... è uno studio va suonato, non occorre pensare, nei notturni si pensa.
    Poi per carità molto brava, tra i contemporanei non c'è paragone a mio avviso.

    Very loud and annoying resonance from too much pedaling in each second half of the chromatic scale descents, especially toward the end of each sentence. One should refrain from excessive pedaling in the second half of the chromatic scale descents for two reasons: (1) over-sustaining bass notes causes excessive resonance which makes music very murky; (2) excessive resonance makes hearing/tracking long decent difficult which is bound for mistakes or even grinds to a halt.
