Tino rawe tō whakaako e hoa!!!.....excellent advice and guidance. I am currently completing level 4 and it is exactly as you describe. Some days I feel as if I am grasping the reo and on other days I feel as if I have learnt nothing. Thank you for your brilliant videos and encouragement!
Omg I am so excited, I actually got this, thankyou my confidence has gone through the roof, just imagine my excitement when I'm actually having a full Convo, thankyou very much, your an ace teacher
Well done bro. This is an awesome resource. Choice tips for us to think about. Keep it up bro. Be cool to hear an update of your progress. Ka rawe e hoa.
I have just started my journey in Te Reo Māori and was so excited to watch your videos. i don't feel like I'm left behind in class now and on a mission. Kei te tumanako ahau ki te kite atu i a koe. Mauruuru koe.
I think your idea for flash cards for phrases is brilliant. I know we all have to start somewhere but personally i hate just throwing a random maori word into an English sentence. I would prefer to learn the whole sentence!?!? I am from Australia and lived in NZ for 17 years, and I still think what everyone is doing to keep the indigenous language alive is amazing.
Awwww, I was thinking of putting up labels of everything in Maori too, but you made a lot of sense, so I'm going to do what you did. Kia ora & thank you so much for these helpful videos, proud to be Maori & a new subscriber 🖤🤍❤️
So agree with you about the cards then on Quizlet. But yes need to korero without the words around me. Learn the kupu and put them in a sentence I can use daily.

Kia ora! Now, I have absolutely no idea where to start on how to learn Te Reo Maori. I am moving to NZ next year , and I do have a lot of respect for Maori , and I want to learn as much as possible. But where to start? Tēnā rawa atu koe.
Kia Ora e hoa, I do apologise for the late reply. My bad. Scotty Morrison's Māori Made Easy books motivated me and have great step by step chapters to follow. Another book that I use is Te Wahapū by Ian Cormack. Easy to follow and big pages for simple people like me! There are plenty more and feel free to ask Māori 4 Grown Up's Facebook page - but thanks for your question and kia pai tō Rāhina, have a good Monday!
Good morning e hoa. I wish I could help you but I can't because I got rid of them. Truth be told you wouldn't have wanted them anyway, they were definitely a no frills job. Thanks for your pātai though and have a good weekend!
Kia ora!! There are Reo cards online if you do a Google search for them however I found that these cards simply have one word and are aimed at children. That's why I made my own. It did take some time and effort however it allowed me to write full sentences down or Kiwaha etc. I haven't found any company or individual who is selling Te Reo flashcards which have full sentences on them. Ngā mihi e hoa and good luck!
Doing something is better than doing nothing.. great to use for items feelings etc in between Pākehā for introduction your home.. my dog is called kuri, my cat ngeru
I would like to correct this sentence, but I don't know what the writer is trying to say. Ka tautoko ahau i tēnēi whakaaro (I strongly agree with this thought) Hope this is helpful friend
Do you know what would be helpful, if when you said words that are not English, you either follow it up with the English or put subtitles in your video, because beginners have no idea what you are saying.
Tēnā koe e hoa. I have been on a 5 day Noho Marae where I was fortunate enough to be exposed to some amazing older fluent speakers. Outside of this I have been reliant on the fluency of my Kaiako, but having more exposure to the Reo of the older generation would be a dream for me.

Rawe!
Did u ever consider learning real maori from fluent speakers (e.g the old people)
Tēnā koe e hoa. I have been on a 5 day Noho Marae where I was fortunate enough to be exposed to some amazing older fluent speakers. Outside of this I have been reliant on the fluency of my Kaiako, but having more exposure to the Reo of the older generation would be a dream for me.
@Keanon: Real māori? Go on eh! This is real moari. He eki koe
I thought bit rude.. this is exactly why many and me give up! Lift up dont put down!
I won't be learning any Māori, because I don't want to be accused of cultural appropriation.
That's a real shame e hoa, the Reo needs Champions.
Learning someone else's language isn't appropriation. Taking our taonga and land is
Totally understand
