I like how you turned the "fiddle yard" into an actual part of the layout. I always thought it was such a waste of space to just have unfinished tracks. Great video, enjoyed it a lot.
Thanks so much for the comment and I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Yes, the storage tracks might as well be on view and form part of the layout, it seems a pointless waste not to! Regards Julian
This incredible layout just popped up on my UA-cam feed and had to subscribe, fantastic long rakes and excellent low level running shots, nice one cheers Darrell
Thank you very much indeed Darrell, I'm glad you like it, welcome aboard. There will be many more videos to come with long rakes. Most of my rolling stock is still boxed up as I'm only just getting going really. The main part of the layout is still to do so enjoy the journey with me. Regards Julian
Well, sometimes you just have to don't you! :) After all, it's set in England and the country seems to have gone completely insane since 2016! Regards Julian
@@MistaMatthews Firstly, I swear, quite a lot.....Then after about 10 minutes of continuous expletives I start crying! It's a fine balancing act on chunks of wood on and across the platforms to give me support whilst stretching over. A bleedin' pain I can tell you! Once the foreground in front of and above the nearest 3 sidings is built it will be even more challenging....I'll have to design in a support system to clamber across.....But, being a complete professional nothing is beyond my astounding capabilities!
Hi Steve and thank you. All feedback is welcome, good, bad or indifferent. It's all new to me and a learning curve; perhaps I can change/swap them out each video...I haven't decided the overall format yet, it's early days for the channel. Some progression is needed!....You'll just have to click the time line on 30 seconds if you revisit any of the current ones. Anyway, thank you again, appreciated. Regards Julian
Great video and layout. Unfortunately both of my Avanti models derailed on starting and stopping at all but the slowest of speeds. Ridiculous so sent them back! Did you have any problems?
Thank you.Yes! The engine cars do have a derailing problem, my set originally derailed on some corners. The fix is by removing with a scalpel knife a small amount of the plastic molding/nodule that the bogie pushes on to cause it to lean on cornering. Trimming this carefully down slightly fixed the derailing for me. Always check the wheel back-to-backs as well. Regards Julian
Hello Susannah, thank you very much indeed, that's extremely kind of you, welcome aboard. I'm hoping to release another video over the next few days so keep an eye out! Regards Julian.
Thank you for the info Alfie, all comments are very welcome, good, bad or indifferent. I'm actually a railway numpty and I don't pretend to know much so any info is appreciated. All the rollingstock is just slapped on the rails as layout test trains at the moment really as I've a long way to go with the layout before I start arranging proper trains. I've got 3 more carriages for the Pendolino somewhere to add at some stage so I'll rearrange the carriages then, remembering where to put the pantograph cars of course! lol. Regards Julian
Indeed. The layout is still under construction. If you look at more recent episodes you'll see that there are gantries all around the top level now. I won't be installing any power cables as it makes track maintenance too tricky. All the footage taken is just of testing things out on the layout as I go, rather than anywhere near a finished and representative view. Regards Julian

That shot at 8:05 is pretty insane!

@@theeventhorizon-valebridge9512 what do you do if a train derails at the back??

impressive layout. Fantastic full rakes I do like. Have subbed. Stay safe.
Hello Mike, Thank you very much, most kind and appreciated. A new episode is on its way very shortly. Regards Julian
Fantastic! A minor criticism if I may? The 30 second intro is great the first time, but on the 4th or 5th showing. ........

It is a problem for modern image modellers that without catenaries the representation is not prototypical.
