I tried the 7+ replacement kit, little did I know I was being too harsh and tore the screen connectors. now I’m watching this on an iPhone 11! There’s a little story for ya 😂
I replaced battery on my iPhone 7 Plus but ripped the ribbon to the Taptic Engine so had to buy one off ebay and reopened it all all again. Wasn’t much to get a new one but it’s far too easy to catch or twist the ribbons. If you ever see a video and it says rest the Taptic engine still connected just take it out and save you the hassle 😂
Just did this myself, it wasn’t too bad. It was a little disappointing that you guys didn’t film the speaker installation again after you forgot to add the grounding clip. Otherwise it was an easy installation.

Guys be very careful when removing the batterys adhesive if it breaks and u start bending the battery. I just made it and my iPhone 11 works with the new battery. But i think I damaged the NFC wireless charge flex cable. So be super careful only bend battery in top and bottom not under in the middle!! Super awesome guide man btw step by step perfection!! :)

I hope EU stays away from enforcing product design on companies. It’s enough if battery is replaceable easily at authorized repair - which in iPhone’s case it is. Also, recycling must be in order. It makes no sense to enforce removable batteries on devices which need typically only one battery replacement during their lifespan. If you need extra capacity during travelling etc. then an external battery or a case is much more convenient. Just let authorized repair replace the battery for you and don’t worry about it.

This video is is missing a step. Got stuck at the Speaker Removal step because my iphone 11 has a component in between the speaker and the taptic engine that doesn't appear in this video. This is the Taptic Engine Connector Tape. Carefully lift from the bottom right corner using tweezers to remove and expose the screws beneath.

How are you able to do this with the new battery lock software Apple has in their update? For iPhone 8 models and up whenever i try to replace the battery i get a message in setting saying “This battery is not genuine” following by the percentage going down to 0% and the phone not charging then boot looping.

I won't speak for iFixit, but based on other iPhone battery repair videos I've seen, it's a lot easier to remove the pull-tabs with those components removed. With them in-place, it's much easier to break the tabs, which will make it a lot harder to get the old battery out without causing damage.

My iPhone 11 Pro Max is stuck in a boot loop randomly during normal usage. It randomly booted to home screen and I got to settings then it turned off and back to boot loop. There was no spinning logo so I think it’s a battery issue and not a hardware issue. On your website it states a battery replacement may fix a boot loop.. how likely is this? Also my battery capacity was 83-84% No physical damage to device and no sim liquid indicator triggered
The only thing I see wrong about this video (as an Apple Certified Technician) is the fact that you didn't use a display press like I normally would. Otherwise, IFixIt did a good job without the use of Apple Tools. Thinking about getting a set for myself.

I wish speaker adhesive gaskets were available because it’s a necessary component for the water resistance aside from the gasket around the display. But I’ve just been using rubbery liquid adhesive and topping it off with conformal coating and that seems to do the trick

The adhesive is what makes your phone waterproof/ stay to together stronger. If you’re not worried about that stuff then yeah you can just clip it back together.

Water Resistant & Dust Proof...two things that nobody asked for. If they did a survey, I guarantee that 85% would say that they'd rather have a user-replaceable battery. My old Note 4 was perfect. Always carried an extra battery or two. This is total idiocy. I can't believe how many pieces have to be removed--with all different screws no-less--to take out a simple battery. And why so much adhesive?

I always use a cocktail stick to replace the tiny screws. They are very magnetic and it’s virtually impossible with a screwdriver however small.

The adhesive is what makes your phone waterproof/ stay to together stronger. If you’re not worried about that stuff then yeah you can just clip it back together.

Dislike because it makes no sense to replace the battery in an iPhone yourself, considering how cheap it is when done by Apple or authorized repair, using official parts and with warranty for the repair.

Alessandro Neiva Because modern phone battery tech has advanced heaps since the iPhone 6/6s days... the iPhone 6/6s has a bad battery by today’s standards. And the fact that you charge your battery from 0%-100% twice a day isn’t helping your situation either. In fact, it actually kills the battery much faster.

Just save your time don’t remove the bottom part save your time put isopropyl alcohol top part in the battery wait till few minutes pull out the battery and put the new one
Water Resistant & Dust Proof...two things that nobody asked for. If they did a survey, I guarantee that 85% would say that they'd rather have a user-replaceable battery. My old Note 4 was perfect. Always carried an extra battery or two.
This is total idiocy. I can't believe how many pieces have to be removed--with all different screws no-less--to take out a simple battery. And why so much adhesive?
