Minnesotan here. I’ve followed Tim Walz’s career for years. He’s the real deal and you can trust him. No baggage, and he appeals to moderates, republicans and liberals. To those who say the Veep choice doesn’t matter, just look at the Vice President who is running for President now! Go with integrity, choose Walz.

I like Walz’s because he is solid and very steady at the helm. He is a highly effective communicator and quick on his feet.
I hear good things about waltz. I’m good with whoever she picks.
I am from Minnesota, our governor will help Kamala get the votes she needs as a veep running mate. Even the swing states are good for the Democrats.

We need someone like Pete B. in the position of Secretary of State. He is eminently qualified, well-tempered, eloquent, intelligent beyond the pale, and already diplomatically savvy and multiculturally competent. He would represent the USA better than anyone else. I can see him addressing the UN General Assembly, the World Economic Forum, and every other important international body with such dignity and aplomb!!! And his humble, yet confident character would inspire such respect, for him and for our country.❤

Oh yeah, Tim Walz is EXACTLY what Democrats and a new Kamala Harris Administration need!

Walz. Please. He's accomplished so much with a narrow majority in MN so he's shown that he can work with both parties.
He's progressive AF, former teacher, knows how to speak plainly to people in a manner that appeals to them.
He doesn't have the baggage that Shapiro has in regards to Palestinian protestors.
Edit for this: I did not know this, but apparently, Shapiro may have mishandled sexual assault allegations of a staffer. It'd probably be a good idea to not tether yourself to that if you're trying to get the woman vote which we need.
Honestly I didn’t know who Walz was a few weeks ago. I’m impressed with him and if Harris picks him, he would be a fine VP.

Me too, but I've started to think that maybe this time requires a more outspoken candidate and Walz is excellent in telling it like it is in a relatable way. Also, I think Kelly is badly needed in the position he is in.

As a 33 year NASA engineer I had the chance to work with both Kelly brothers and I’m friends with both. Mark is a SOLID guy. He would make a great VP and even POTUS.
Having said thatVP Harris is no dummy so I know she’ll choose the person who is best for the country, so I’m happy to trust her judgement wholeheartedly.
Kelly sounds like a really good pick, but I can't shake what Brian is saying about Penn.
I'd love to see Kelly as VP. Our science spending is abysmal and is at risk of loosing some very important programs. The Chandra X-ray observatory has at least a decades worth of fuel left. It also has no successor even in the planning. But the way it stands the program will be done after its budget gets gutted. Without a line item amendment to keep it funded it's done for.
But that also means an open Senate seat in Arizona. And I don't trust this state to elect a good replacement.
I want him as Secretary of State.
Kelly is the best of both worlds. He brings a swing state (like Shapiro) and experience/likability (like Walz)
My middle school kids think it's cool that Mark Kelly is both an astronaut and a twin!

From all I am hearing, it sounds to me like Tim Walz would be the strongest pick.
Shapiro could help deliver PA, but Israel / Gaza is a very real issue for progressives and many of the young voters Kamala picked up and needs.

@mikemonteleone863 no issues at all with Waltz. He has done a very good job. Doing more than most politicians. He has also owned up to mistakes over the years. Do not know of many strong enough for that. Most are too delicate. Like making a mistake is somehow unique. He, unlike most of gop, has the self-confidence to be real. He doesn't need to inform people he is capable. He is real military. He knows he is, proves it by doing not empty bragging .

Of course. Shapiro is a careerist who would be looking for ways to promote himself instead of helping her. And he drags in all his excess baggage that would drag the campaign down, similar to what Vance has done to Trump. He definitely loses some of the voting base, no one knows how much.
Walz is the bulldog who is fantastic with the media, especially at talking policy in terms that people can understand the benefit to their own lives. I’ve even seen some who were planning to vote third party say they would volunteer for Kamala if Walz is on the ticket. Walz is the great unifier.

Buttigieg would be my pick if the job was debating Vance and doing interviews on Fox. But Walz has the right experience to do the job of President if something were to happen to Kamala. I don't think being a Mayor and Secretary of Transportation is enough experience. I do hope Kamala has a job for Pete though. He is a smart guy that is good to have on our side.
I'm praying for Walz not gonna lie. Just saying he has more experience than Shapiro who has been a governor for only a year. If it's really between Walz and Shapiro, I really want Walz as the VP pick but I'll be fine with whoever picks either way.

When Tim Walz stood in front of the nation and declared Minnesota as a refuge for transgender people in April of 2023, I stood up and cheered. To come out and do that in the face of the open aggression and attacks by other states against LGBTQ+ and specifically transgender rights going on at that time took guts. It took a willingness to say, we won't kowtow to hate in the guise of religion in the state of Minnesota. After his long history of standing up for progressive ideals, for him to do that, in that particular moment in time, made him a hero in my eyes. My gay and transgender friends in Texas and Oklahoma and Florida and other red states are living in times where their lives are being directly threatened with violence not only by random strangers, but the very governments they look to for protection. I'm not a resident of Minnesota, so I haven't ever had the opportunity to cast a vote for Tim Walz, but I would whole-heartedly cast it for him as our Vice President standing alongside Kamala Harris in a Harris/Walz 2024 ticket.

I think as progressives we can be more easily manipulated online by the if it's not perfect I'm not interested argument. Nope, Democrats need Pennsylvania’s 19 electoral votes to win, Walz can’t deliver those numbers, therefore it has to be Shapiro. It’s about winning & keeping Trump out rather than who you like best, the bigger picture is what counts the most.
Pete would be a wonderful choice for Secretary of State! And I fully agree that keeping existing Democratic Senators and Congresspersons in their current position is vital. We need every seat in both houses that we can get.

As a Canadian with limited knowledge of state politics in the US, I must say that I have been impressed with Tim Walz. For one thing, he displays a 'gravitas' that Kamala Harris occasionally appears to lack, despite her many accomplishments. This creates a nice balance on the ticket.

If Shapiro is so popular why would he need to be VP pick to deliver PA? He should be able to deliver his state as governor. Same for any governor.

Walz I think will be the best choice. I think Shapiro (though I actually agree with almost all his politics and he’s an incredible speaker) may affect the youth vote because of his more pro Israel lean, and he is very pro school vouchers. Walz is “America’s Dad” and an effective speaker and think he could be more of a plus for more states.
Shapiro also has issues of pretending to help people harmed by fracking in the western side of his state, where not only did the help not come in any timely or consistent manner-he negotiated to let the company continue fracking.

If Walz and Shapiro were both invited to a dinner table full of Republicans, I think the group would find Walz more amiable. Shapiro is a bit aggressive in a calculated 'speechy' way. I don't think he'll sway many 'on the fencers' the way Walz could with his down home amiable speaking style. But what do I know????
Tim Kane had that down home amiable style. Where did that get us. We need an attack dog. Shapiro looks like he can take that quiet Vice President job and transform it.

@@WilfredFumbly Joe Lieberman was running for Vice President and he was a funny guy who smiled a lot. He ran against Cheney, who was very stern most of the time. People would comment that they liked Cheney’ seriousness and sterness. Lieberman lost. Walz is like Lieberman.. We need an attack dog. Especially because of Maga. Shapiro fits that bill. It also shows that Kamala is going to war. Because Walz would not show that she is serious. It would show that she is weak. Shapiro will show the wisdom of her war choice. And this is a war.
@sampsonlittle7368 Obviously, you haven’t watched Walz in interviews. He is far better and more targeted in his attacks on Trump and Vance, as well as far better with media and getting out the Democratic message. Plus the Republicans won’t be able to find things to attack him on, whereas Shapiro has multiple negatives that hand them easy ammunition.

I know Tim Wallz is absolutely the BEST choice, and even prefer him as Prez, not VP. I'm biased, as he's my very own Gov, here in my beloved Minnesota...and I've been loving him for years, since before Covid (which he dealt with FABULOUSLY, on tv every single morn with his covid briefs, and we counted on him to calm and assure us, teach and guide us, thru the nightmare it was, the HELL that killed my little brother, cuz Donald led his anti-vaxer trumpers into death wearing their little red hats, waving their "patriotic" flags on a stick.). That is good to hear as I have a hard time getting excited about Mark Kelly because I cannot see him a heartbeat away from the POTUS position. Kelly is a nice even great guy. However he does not inspire me in the POTUS position. The fact of what you say that Waltz has run MINN in great fashion feels more comfortable a heartbeat away from the BIG JOB.
