    such a useful video guys. We used to have the old Virgin Atlantic credit card before it changed over a few years ago so this has definitely made me think about getting the new brand one. Ive joined virgin red and linked my air miles to it since watching this.

    We use to work our backsides off in the U.K. to come to Florida ! In the end we just thought why not just move here and did 7 yrs ago and live in Windermere right behind magic kingdom , we arrived back on the Thursday sold the house on the Friday sold the cars binned everything in the house that we didn’t sell and arrived here with 5 suit cases and shipped 11 boxes .
    My only regret is we didn’t do it yrs ago .
    As residents you don’t want know what we pay 😂😂😂
    It’s entertaining when Brits hear our accents and ask where you from ? Essex !
    Oh when do you go back ?
    We ain’t going back we live just over there 😂 the look we get and response every time is oh wish we could !!!!
    Ok do it ! We did .

      Fab info, we are also going in August and done it very similar to yourselves. We are doing diy like yourself. Have a look at the shops away virgin atlantic site ( very similar to Virgin red ) as you did not mention it. Sometimes better offers on points if spend via this Attraction tickets are on it not on Virgin red. More points and lets u get points for hotels in US unlike the Virgin red offers. Read the conditions as some do not.

    Did you have to pay the fees on the companion seats? We've used points before and know you need to pay taxes on seats booked with points but not sure about companion/reward vouchers

    • @_TheHamiltonFamily

      We just paid the taxes so for the 4 of us it was £944 in taxes which wasn’t bad at all.

    Some great tips in this video, we recently came across your videos as we were looking for people who have been at Christmas, can see it was busy but would you recommend going at Christmas? We would just be doing Universal and keep debating on if we should book😊

    This video was so useful! The virgin points felt a bit confusing but seems straight forward enough now 😁
    would you say its averagely around 50,000 points per person per return flight? And if you have surplus points can you put them towards things like car hire, airport lounges etc? Thanks again for making the vid ❤

    • @_TheHamiltonFamily
      @_TheHamiltonFamily  7 місяців тому +1

      Thank You, it’s hard to say to be honest. I would say 50,000 is too much. I would say around 35,000 to 45,000 but it all depends on the time you visit and if virgin do any offers. For our May flights it was 50,000 for the 4 of us.
      I think you can use points for other things but not something we have done really.
      Thanks for watching 😀

    Thanks so much for this very informative video. I have just got the Virgin Atlantic credit card so these are great tips for collecting points. Can I ask how hard it is to actually spend the points or use the companion vouchers? We are a family of five planning to fly in August 2025. I don't think that we will have a companion voucher before we book, but we would like to use points. Am I right in saying that you can only use points/vouchers for a limited number of seats per flight? Is it very competitive to snag those seats? Can you book online or do you need to phone up? Sorry to bombard you with so many questions.

    • @_TheHamiltonFamily
      @_TheHamiltonFamily  6 місяців тому

      It’s not that hard at all. They only release a certain number of reward seats but we have never had a problem getting them. I would suggest you check out SeatSpy which you can see what reward seats are available.
      You can book them online as well, we usually do it over the phone though .

    So I got a Virgin Atlantic Credit Card (the plus version with the £160 fee). I got an additional card for my husband to use but presumably that would only give us one companion voucher because it's technically one credit card? Should he get his own VA credit card so we can get 2 companion tickets? (We have 2 children). Thanks for any help 😊

    Been to Orlando 6 times since 1998, 2001, 2005.2010, 2015, 2018 and again this year making seven times a month at a time, first as a frequent flyer with Virgin Holiday, now a Flying Club Member. When paying for three children it becomes expensive. Even now as adults still helping them with flights etc. In 2018 and this year paid for my wife and myself with Virgin points 210,000 for Upper Class plus 17,000 for a Chauffeur to pick us up at our overnight hotel in Central London. I just have the normal Virgin Atlantic Credit Card, plus collect points with e-rewards scheme and Tesco voucher's. Since booking the flights have collected 12,000 points with out even trying. Have over 71,000 Avios points for BA as well.

      Wow, that's an impressive travel history to Orlando! It's great to hear that you've been able to make the most out of your Virgin Flying Club membership and points. The fact that you managed to book Upper Class flights with points is amazing, and the chauffeur service sounds like a real treat. Collecting 12,000 points without even trying and having over 71,000 Avios points is no small feat either.

      you didn’t mention tier points on the video. Did you know you can get tier points on bookings with Virgin holidays as well as flying? This can really help you to get up to silver tier then you’ll earn even more airmiles when flying as they give a bonus, you get an extra piece of luggage, priority baggage and can also use the premium check in desks.
      Looking forward to the next vlog series. We’re a family with 3 kids and all been watching for well over a year and it’s great to see you subs growing over this time. 😊

    Am I hearing this right... 1300 + 2 Vouchers + Points for 4 to Orlando? That's a bit ouch. BA taxes are just better, so I'd look to move to BA Amex setups if I were you. Or use both if you have the expenses that'd get you vouchers on both cards.
    Don't tie yourself down to Virgin exclusivity, economy is economy, it's all the same... as is PE really. Compare to the open market, not how much the flight you are taking would cost.

    • @_TheHamiltonFamily
      @_TheHamiltonFamily  7 місяців тому

      For our May trip it was 50,000 points and £944
      For August it was 2 reward vouchers, 1300 and we points already. Flights for August with virgin were coming in at £5500 for the 4 of us so paying £1300 was well worth it.
      We personally don’t like BA, we had a cancellation last year with them and they wasn’t too helpful. BA seem to cancel a lot of flights so we would rather stick with Virgin for now

    • @jdizzler
      @jdizzler 7 місяців тому

      @@_TheHamiltonFamily I'm not pushing BA to you, just saying don't be exclusive to one or the other or any. Are you gonna have the same feelings towards VA should you unluckily get a cancellation from them(hopefully never happens, cancellations are crap!)? It happens and the percentiles of it happening are more or less the same BA or VA, just BA gets more flack online because they are the flag carrier and have substantially more flights.
      The comparison should always be with the best price that essentially offers the same, be it VA, BA, Aer Lingus or whoever in my opinion. Loyalty, unless you are a genuinely frequent flyer to get discounts and status, doesn't pay in the air.
      At the end of the day, it's a good deal for you, and your family is going where you want to go. All that matters, just two cents to maybe think on.
