    Jamie - Very thankful for your efforts to consistently put these video's out. I have learned a great deal and utilized the techniques in my flower and architectural photos. I am envious of your ability to travel to dream locations and now that I know this skill set a little bit better it will make a difference in my approach and exposure settings. I believe most of us live in places that have many photographic opportunities if we could just get out, move around and "see" better. The tools are changing so much and with PS Beta, Lightroom ,and with the cameras just out in the last 24 months it has never been a better time to be a photographer. It is a wonderful passion. I am stunned by the capabilities of cameras like the A7RV and now the budget friendly A6700. The glass today is better than ever. Any GM lense is stellar. I carry an iPhone 14 Pro Max and the images I have been able to get from it are incredible. If you hold it steady or tripod and shoot in raw they can be seriously good. Between the three I have it covered. No excuses for bad photos! Thanks again.

    I always learn something valuable from your videos. This one was no exception. The way you process a color photo to convert to black and white was quite interesting. I actually improved a color photo by using your black and white preparation techniques, and then backing off a bit on the sliders. Thank you!!

      I am sure Mick that with a little time, you will be surprised what you can achieve, it is all about practice, practice, practice, like playing a musical instrument, you only get better by playing it. Once you are well practiced and know what all the tools do, you will start to think about the processing when you are shooting the photograph 😀

    I am glad you called this an image and not a photo. While the original was a photo, all the additional processing turned it into a visual art image. Not sure with AI that we need this type of art anymore as it can be generated without a person in the loop altogether. But the final image is very nice if a bit overprocessed.

    Thanks Jamie for your tutorial, I really like the black and white photography. I started my experience in photography with film cameras. Now for many years I have been following and studying various principles and options for processing digital black and white images from various authors and masters of this area of processing. I very often do not like the digital aesthetics of photo images, especially in black and white versions. Everything is too polished and as a result a certain artistic effect and the very content of the photograph are lost/dulled. For me personally, images from monochrome digital cameras of the Leica brand look very close in spirit and to my feelings and they are very much reminiscent of the same aesthetics of black and white film images. And here’s the question: “Do you personally have experience working with monochrome digital cameras of the Leica system and how, and how much will the final result of processing digital images/pictures/photos differ from those options and results of the final processing of black-and-white photographs/images that you personally are you using?" Thanks in advance for your answer.

      Hi Jonas, thank you for the comment and questions, to answer: yes I have used a friend's Lecia Monochrome camera and in doing so I discovered exactly what you said, they have a natural spirit, quite pleasing, however, they do not leave a great deal of room for further processing, as you are already in monochrome. This does not change my respect for the Lecia brand and the photos that they produce, but I do love to process my images to the end result and to do this, as you have seen in this video, the colour contrast is important to my style, I have not seen anybody else who increases the colour contrast via the saturation and vibrance sliders before the conversion to B&W, I personally find that it gives me a distinct look, and I also really love Silver Efex Pro, stunning piece of software, if used right.... 😀

      @@jamiermathlinYes, I certainly agree with your arguments and point of view in this context of the issue of processing black and white images from color files. It’s a pity that UA-cam blocks links to other channels and Internet resources because I could share opinions and methods of processing B/W images from other people/photography masters, but unfortunately I don’t have your E-Mail or instant messengers. And of course, thank you for your quick and detailed answer .

    Hi Jamie, I gather form your videos that you've had an issue with Ps beta (v 25) not being able to edit in Ps beta since the (25 version) from Lr. I, like you went back to the beta 24.7 and worked fine, however my (24.7) version is now saying I can't use generative fill now until I update to version 25??? which doesn't work properly, I just wondered if you were having this issue as well.... Sorry to bother Colin Devon.

    • @jamiermathlin
      @jamiermathlin  Рік тому +1

      Yep Adobe has messed it all up now, the best thing to do is export the image you want to work on to a known folder, open it in PS beta, then when you have save it back to the Lightroom folder, then go into Lightroom and re-synchronise the folder in lightroom, and you will then have it back 😀

    • @jamiermathlin

      Hi Peter, no update from adobe yet on the version 25.0 transfer issue. You can back track to 24.7 which still works fine, it is just missing Generative Expand, but you can do this manually from 24.7, hope this helps. As soon as it is resolved I will post a video 😀
