LOL - Steve's reaction is so cute. His ears pinning back, his resting his head on your shoulder, & the kisses. It's like how a pup reacts when being scolded. They're similar to their equine cousins and have a particular level of intuitiveness along with being stubborn.
I was in Fairplay Co a couple years ago and on the courthouse lawn there is a headstone for a donkey buried there. He was a faithful companion to an old timer gold miner. I can see why he buried him with love and admiration for such a fine and faithful creature!

Problem is ,we’re Australians stuck in Australia not allowed to travel. Praying to the gods we get to be with our fur children this year! Your doing a great job,take care stay safe.

Steve appears to have a bigger appetite or a higher metabolism than the rest of the donkeys. You may want to feed him extra food regularly and then see if he stops going into the feed shed.

I've always heard the expression, "Stubborn as a MULE." I've never heard it in connection to a donkey but I suppose they're pretty much alike. .
