On how they had ended up in the entertainment industry, Joseph said that he had met a director who was looking for new faces to act in his new movie on the MTR one day. Although Joseph didn't get to take part in that particular movie, the director subsequently invited him to star in advertisements. Joseph accepted the offers, since it meant additional pocket money for him. He then became exposed to the modelling and movie industry.
When Bryant was in high school, he was working part time in a restaurant when he was spotted by his present manager. Byrant's manager thought the boy was quite good looking, and passed her namecard to him. At that time, Byrant was curious about the entertainment industry and thought it could be fun to see what it was like to be part of it. Byrant discussed the matter with his parents, before he finally decided to sign the contract with his manager.
On the filming of the intimate scene in Eternal Summer, Bryant said it was a first time experience for both himself, Joseph as well as director Leste Chen. Therefore, they were nervous and hesitant prior to filming that scene. All of them wanted the scene to be completed in one shot (so that they don't have to redo it). On the actual day of filming, both Bryant and Joseph put aside their nervousness, and poured in all their feelings and emotions to give it their best shot.
Bryant said that he had learned a lot from filming Eternal Summer, while Joseph felt that even though Eternal Summer's story is fictional, audience (including themselves) would identify with certain parts of the movie, especially on the various issues experienced by youths and teenagers.
Byrant said that the fun part about being an actor is the ability to make use of your imagination to create different types of characters in the movies.
Joseph likes acting, and hopes that good scripts and roles will continue to come his way.

Honestly, I've seen a TON of BL movies and in my opinion, the love scene in Eternal Summer was the best love scene I'd ever seen. It was both written well and acted well! There was SO much emotion in the one scene, especially given how much emotion was involved prior to that!

They’re AMAZING actors! In the movie Shane is very extroverted, foolish, spontaneous ..in real life he seems moderately introverted and more reserved. Both of them look a bit nervous here but Shane looks more confident and assertive.
Saw this on Netflix. I really appreciate the vague ending. It’s one of the few times I like being able to interpret it myself. My thought is that Shane knew Jonathan was in love with him at that point, and therefore slept with him in fear of losing him. Shane did not have other friends and loved Jonathan, but I don’t believe he was IN love with him. At the end when he admits to Jonathan he is his best friend, it was a way of saying “I don’t love you in that way, but I can’t lose you.” Shane was very codependent but that changed once Carrie arrived. It ends abruptly because who knows what could happen after that. Shane got into University, Jonathan didn’t. Also, Shane has Carrie. Jonathan failing school was due to being lovesick and coming to terms with his sexuality. He has his own path to discover. Great tender film.

This is a very good interpretation. Even after seeing how Shane slept with Jonathan it never felt like a love scene. I was left confused because I truly didn’t feel Shane loved Jonathan in the same way.

Well, it's up to the individual's interpretation. Personally, I feel that Shane loved Jonathan (it was obvious from his actions throughout the movie).
Shane is a rather simplistic person. He does not make fine distinctions between best friends and lovers. It is all the same to him. In other words, "best friends" is the ultimate. You many have many lovers but you have only one best friend. A best friend is a part of you. You will notice from the beginning how possessive he was in regards to Jonathan. He did not accept for you to even look at Jonathan. He would not even let Jonathan sit next to Carrie. He even showed jealousy toward his own mother for being too friendly to Jonathan. He always wanted to be in Jonathan's presence. Jonathan always gave in to Shane's demands to his own detriment. You can't just have sex with someone because you don't want to lose them. Consider that Jonathan wanted desperately to have sex with Carrie but was unable to do so. Because he did not feel that way about her. So I reject the notion that Shane just had sex with Jonathan because he feared losing him. As his best friend, Shane after understanding that Jonathan wanted sex from him, was willing and able to oblige him. Something that Jonathan could not do for Carrie. So do not be mislead by Shane's pronouncement that Jonathan was his Best Friend. That word to Shane was the ultimate. It included but was greater than intimate sex.
Doesn't make me feel any less pain for them both.
Johnathan doesn't get the love of his life, even if he stays.
His future and dreams have crumbled around him. He was so smart and together and he became such a shell that he couldn't make his brain work to finish school with promise.
Shane loves him in a possessive manner that keeps Johnathan confused.
He is shattered when he finds Shane loves Carrie. He instinctively tried to avoid Shane and Carrie for self preservation. But Shane only saw his own emptiness and pain at a life without Johnathan. He hounded him to keep him close. Johnathan was becoming a shadow right in front of Shane's eyes and he chose not to see it.
Carrie should not have gone after Shane when she fully knew how much Johnathan loved him.
I am devastated 😢

@whateverrr that's the best explanation i've seen so far. it really shines some light on the otherwise dim movie ending. i really get what you mean about the friendship thing. i had a teacher say once that liking someone is more important than loving them, b/c when you like them you respect them, but when you love them you tend to do whatever you want cuz you know they'll still be there at the end of the day.

All 3 stories (movie and the 2 books) are somewhat different. I had watched the movie before I read the books, so the movie still left a deep impression.

I think for 11 years passed u know by now why shane makes love to J, S didnt want to lose J as a friend, remember he said to Carrie when u grow up things changed as well as relationship, he(s) felt all alone since young but when he met J he realized the friendship between them could last forever but he(S) knew how J fall in love with him andvdont want to lose J that y the ending of movie he told J that J is his best friend.

@whateverrr his main point was to tell us that if/when we fall for someone to make sure we like than person just as much, or maybe even more, than we love them. In Shane you can really tell this need he has for Jonathan, but whether or not that need can be satisfied with friendship or from much more is to be determined, which is the only thing that made me upset by this otherwise amazing movie.
