A cool secret you missed: In Aridia there's a cannon in the background firing something across the sky. If you look closely at the projectile you can see that it's actually just one of the enemies from that level
IIRC its perfectly visible in game as long as you know to look. Don't know if there's any UA-cam footage but if you have the game you should be able to see it
Ratchet and Clank used to be my favorite game in my childhood. I would spend all my time trying to find glitches and finding ways to go outside the playable map. This video showed a bunch of things I never found and it's so cool to see them.
This is very special to me, you have no idea how much time I spent trying to glitch in RC games. Fun fact: In RC3, the sewer crystal area, if you glitch out of the walls in the pipes, you can swim across a green ocean for about 30 mins in one direction until the game freezes.

09:46 damn, didn't know Ratchet was a jedi. Also on Blackwater City some players were able to glitch there way into Qwark's trailer to find the Qwark model already there fully rendered in a T-pose. Most likely so that the model could be quickly loaded for the cutscene
The black wall could be 3 instances of different wall-types used create the different parts of the level. An instance is where you have a 3D model and then you can copy that model and use it multiple times in your level but because it always references the original model it takes up less memory (same textures, collision, shaders, etc). Insomniac got instancing technology off of Naughty Dog after they made Jak and Daxter, 1 so maybe this wall is an earlier type of the way instancing worked and that's it's visible? If you did a boundary-break for Jak 1 you might find the same thing.
7:40 - My theory on the black wall piece is that it might be a leftover of a size reference unit. Modelers use these units to reference the size and proportions of an entire scene, to make that everything looks good compared the characters, props, etc. It's possible that whoever worked on that level left it at the scene by mistake, but the developers ignored it since the player would never see it.

For instance, on Florana (the second level of the game) you can find some remnants of the cut Turboslider tracks at coordinates 215, 438, 760. Plus, on Planet Zeldrin, you can find the office and Taxi Driver from the Supernova Taxi cutscene at coordinates 0,0,0. So to explain why Ratchet is moving with the turret, its actually the other way around; The turret is "parented" to Ratchet and the code that runs the movement for ratchet is loading a different setting/mode so it does that movement. If you change which movement mode the player is on to the normal you can actually walk around with the turret stuck above the player and fire it as you please.

I once saw a friend making a game. And he had a big complex 3D object. And it was used for testing light and shadow etc. now the cool part: the object itself wasnt just a object, it was used for a kinda calibration point. So when you use a flashlight for example it used the same lightsource on the object, and then it tested if the parameters where correct. If there where any mistakes, the game wuold see this. I know this is pretty old now, but that stone wall at Eudora is actually a bit copy and pasted through code for areas that you can see the stone pattern extremely low into the fog. Instead of putting too much on-screen they essentially took a flat image of that to at least give you the visual representation that the wall extended down. The only reason I believe this is because in the ps3 port you can see through the lower portions of the wall in certain areas due to it being a faux wall.
The original PS2 Ratchet and Clank games were one of the first games I've ever played, and they will always be one of my favorites. It's a bit depressing that the new ones aren't the same caliber as the originals, even though I've never played them.

When you play through the tutorial, the level ends when you meet Clank, however on your second visit you can go past that and there's a whole lot more stuff in the level. I wanted to know if the first visit level is actually the same as the second visit, just you can't access all of it.
Eudora has one of my favorite pieces of music I've ever heard. It's so funky, it makes you tap your foot and I think I kinda fits the stage. It's SO GOOD! (R&C is my favorite game series. Period.)
Shesez you should do some more oddball games. By that I mean maybe some that not many people know about. I don't know, I think it would be interesting.
You know that feeling when you find all this hidden camera debug crap years ago but you can't make videos about it because your PC sucks all kinds of ass an then 4 years later another guy finds out how to do it and actually makes a video because of an actually competent PC? I am feeling that right now.
Not sure if already been said, but that black wall which you found outside of the level boundarys was part of a secret location in that level. You find it by hitting the walls in the water tunnel and one wall turns black/grey with each hit, it takes 3/4 hits to crumble down. So my best bet is that each of the 3 layers you saw when exploring its model, was each stage of the wall slightly being destroyed by player interaction :)
The "Black Stone Wall" Was probably a way for them to practice making 'brick wall' shapes for the actual map. If you notice, most of the walls on that map are actually similar to the "Black Stone Wall". They could copy paste it, and separate it so it didn't look as linear and 'game' looking. It helped them make a more memorable, organic environment. Since it had no textures to itself, they could add them on top with less effort, and make multiple ones for each of the same object. Basically, it's a development tool built into the map directly for ease of use.
One game that I would love to see (partially because a glitch that disables kill planes exists, its insane) is Battle for Bikini Bottom. The game goes to insane detail to make sure you can see all the levels from anywhere in the game, which in turn lets you see what was added when during development as the designs changed and layouts shuffled. I spent several hours using the out-of-bounds glitch to see what everything looked like but it is not able to be taken into every level easily so a magic camera (or some dedication to a good glitch setup) could show so much more.
Oh yes. I recently played through the first game, so this is an absolute treat for me. I hope you'll continue the trend and go through Jak & Daxter and/or Sly Cooper next.

Shesez you should do some more oddball games. By that I mean maybe some that not many people know about. I don't know, I think it would be interesting.
The Senate Hello Sheev
Obscure games = no audience on my channel. I would have to be commissioned to be able to cover unpopular games and still afford food
Like Fantasy Life on the 3DS
I'd watch it
Piggybacking this, i'd love to see Custom Robo for the Gamecube on here at some point.
This was really interesting! Thank you for making this! :) Ratchet And Clank is my favourite game series ever!
Trailer = TARDIS!?
I would have loved to see more out of bounds of the first 3 Ratchet and Clank games, but this seems to be the only one.
Hey dude I would love it if you did twisted metal black. There are lots of things to uncover in twisted metal black like if you agree
Probably most interesting video of yours yet. I love Ratchet and Clank!
You know that feeling when you find all this hidden camera debug crap years ago but you can't make videos about it because your PC sucks all kinds of ass an then 4 years later another guy finds out how to do it and actually makes a video because of an actually competent PC? I am feeling that right now.
Love all the Ratchet games (Expect for All for One and Full Frontal Assault). Thanks for making this video!
Can you Off Camera JAK and Daxter?
Not sure if already been said, but that black wall which you found outside of the level boundarys was part of a secret location in that level. You find it by hitting the walls in the water tunnel and one wall turns black/grey with each hit, it takes 3/4 hits to crumble down. So my best bet is that each of the 3 layers you saw when exploring its model, was each stage of the wall slightly being destroyed by player interaction :)
Boundary break Kirby 64
I have my dusty old PS3 here with the Ratchet and Clank trilogy, after this vid I think I know what I'm going to do
Can you do a episode on Crash bandicoot
expect a mini episode this week
Shesez Yaay
Shesez Can you do a boundary break for god of war?
any of them
The "Black Stone Wall" Was probably a way for them to practice making 'brick wall' shapes for the actual map.
Do Mario Tennis On GameCube why? I just wanna see Shy Guys face on his celebration
I spent several hours using the out-of-bounds glitch to see what everything looked like but it is not able to be taken into every level easily so a magic camera (or some dedication to a good glitch setup) could show so much more.
how are you able to do this? what do u use?
Rift Apart would be easy to boundary break with every planet having ways to get out of bounds
The trailer is a TARDIS. It's bigger on the inside
One of my favorite games of all time. Thanks for showing this stuff off. I love to learn all about this game.
Ratchet and clank 2 PLS
I was just playing Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction like a few minutes ago! DUDE, GOOD TIMING!
DO more with the first Ratched and Clank, or the remasterd R and C for ps4!!
Yay! It finally happened! Terrific work, Shesez!

I almost shed a tear when I saw this video appear in my subscription feed :')
Do UA-cam next
UA-cam's already broken enough.
RayanAuditore TØP Hello, freedom of expression?

Great video man, how have you not got more subs?
'Like' this comment if you want to see a boundary break for Silent Hill 2-3!
liked
Shesez My hero.
If this actually happened, I'd love to see a lot of the enemies and NPCs a up close. It also depends on what version of SH2 you play I guess.
Milton De La Cruz It would be amazing.
Silent hill 2 is getting really close.
Oh yes. I recently played through the first game, so this is an absolute treat for me.
I hope you'll continue the trend and go through Jak & Daxter and/or Sly Cooper next.
